I've been to Brevede a few times now and I think this is consistently a 3.5 star location. The seating is ample, especially for the location in the distillery district. The ambiance is great and I could have seen myself spending many hours here when I was a student. However, I found the actual coffee and food selection to be a little lacking. When I go out for coffee, I like to be able to try different flavors and drinks and have good food to match. The food at Brevede seems to be mass made (e.g., grocery store bagels and pre-made frozen quiche). Overall, the location is great, but it's not my favorite coffee shop in Lexington. read more

This is a super cute coffee shop in the distillery district with ample seating and good playlists. I love the open garage doors for a breeze but their proximity to the train tracks can make it loud sometimes if that's a concern for you. I came in for breakfast and to get some work done and was excited about a panini on the menu but they didn't actually have them. Food options are a small (but good looking) waffle or a wheat bagel so if you're looking for breakfast this might not be your place. I've been here a few times and the coffee/espresso bean quality is good but they do only have whole milk and oat milk so if you're counting calories, just stick to black coffee. Beautiful, clean, simple design inside this coffee house. I wish I had time to sit and relax for a bit. I stopped in for the 1st time on a Monday around 930am. It wasn't busy. I ordered the honey cinnamon oat milk latte. Delicious. They advertise "bakery" on the windows, but there were only a couple of crescents and waffles in the case. I didn't ask if they had more in the back. So I'm only giving 3 stars for lack of bakery options. I do plan to stop in again on a weekend and hope to have time to order something more. read more

This place was great and had promise a couple years back. I even recommended it to newcomers in town despite the loaded prices. When did it begin to suck? The staff are impossibly slow, talking for 15-20 minutes at a time to their friends in line while everyone else waits. They serve in only paper to avoid having to wash dishes 2-3 hours before close. There's practically zero feeling of community here, just grab your drink and let me keep talking to friends or on my phone. It's as if everyone is an owner/family friends and there's no consequence for their actions or crappy service. As a side note, the place has clearly dropped it's internet speed, which has been stellar, to something pitiful and barely useful. I'm also very tired of getting blasted with Christian music any time I come in. Big waste of time, this place. It's unfortunate because it *was* really great. read more

I've checked out Brevede twice now in the last week, and I'm pleased I've found a great cup of drip coffee. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is they only offer one size, which is only 12 oz for $3. I don't know about you, but I need at least 16oz of coffee in the morning, and $3 is a hefty price tag for a cuppa Joe that small. They offer plenty of options for lattes and other specialty drinks around the same price, which doesn't make much sense, since they're not fresh brewing drip coffee for each customer... but whatever, at least it's good, so it's a nice occasional spot, but I can't see myself camping out here when prices are that high for drip, when I usually drink 2-3 cups of coffee per session. Anyway, I tried their Cortado on another trip, which was nice, and a chocolate croissant, which they warmed up, and was fabulous with my coffee. Lots of tasty options here for breakfast. As others have said, it's a really cute, Instagram-worthy cafe with tons of seating and great lighting. You could easily meet with a group of friends here. It's not a warm building, so bring your layers in the cold months. It is in an old warehouse, after all. I have to mention I'm not comfortable with the fact nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is wearing a mask in that cafe. Not the staff, not the customers... so it doesn't feel particularly thoughtful toward those who can't get the vaccine. Maybe I'm just not ready to act like everything is "normal again." read more

This is my go-to coffee shop when I need to study or get work done. It is spacious and very well decorated, with plenty of natural lighting that helps my productivity. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and I have been here when the weather is nice and they open the garage doors. It does get cold inside, I usually have to bring a jacket. The coffee and tea selection is simple, I usually get a cold brew or a hot tea. Their pastries are delicious and they will heat it up for you upon request. There was one instance when I was studying and the barista started wiping down my table while I was still sitting there and that was a little strange, but otherwise the baristas are friendly enough. They occasionally sell flowers by the stem for you to diy your own bouquet, the blooms are beautiful but very expensive. All in all a solid coffee shop. read more

There is a lack of alternative milk so I would not recommend this place for people with dairy allergy (who don't enjoy oatmilk, of course). It's loud, too, so not the best environment for studying and working. Overall it's a nice place. The seats are a little close and unmonitored for Covid. Wonderful coffee, friendly staff, really nice venue, and outdoor seating is available (3-4 picnic tables with umbrellas). I'm excited to try their bakery in the future (waffles!?). A week or so ago the indoor seating seemed a bit crowded, but they appear to have more social distancing now. I wish they would open their garage door when the weather is nice. Also, they are open on Sundays until 8pm. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Was in KY visiting family, and came here. It was super cute! The esthetic was warm and inviting. But more than that was Ryan ( I believe that was his name I was there Sunday around noon) he was a rock star. The only person working he rocked out drinks and was pleasant at the register. They do everything right! They understand that coffee should be strong without being bitter and should be the perfect temperature to allow the milk to blend favorably with the coffee. Brevede *was* my favorite shop in town; I suggested many friends to go there. The reason was they had spectacular Internet, solid coffee, and a chill enough atmosphere to get work done. Emphasis on *had*...something's happened; they downgraded their plan and Router. The result? Now, it's one of the worst places to work, ie impossible. Utter trash Internet. I probably won't be back. There are plenty of other shops with just as good drinks and for less. read more
