Southland bagels was one of the first spots I tried out when I first visited Lexington and it's a fan favorite! The service is always friendly and fast. Their menu is full of great bagel sandwiches but even if you're not in the mood for a bagel sandwich their bagels taste great on their own with any of their cream cheese flavors they make in house! Just left Southland. Tried calling in advance to make certain they weren't sold out. No answer. Came in and ordered, while there was a basket full of bagels. Placed my order and waited 15 minutes. People came in after me and ordered, had their food made before me, used up all of the bagels, and then called me to the counter to say they were sold out. Pretty certain my order should have been made first, before fulfilling an order for someone after me, and then just saying "sorry...we're sold out". Not the first time this happened. Super cute store, I've only had their bagels at the farmer's market and I wish I'd been here sooner! Super nice and helpful people, they were training a new person, which was also great for me to hear the explanations about different options. The menu is pretty basic but very well done: bagles, bagel sandwiches, some other food items, drinks. Couldn't decide between the Hulk Smash and the Migos, so I'll be back for the Migos next time. I live two hours away, but whenever I get to Lexington I try to grab bagels here to take home. I say try because they're usually out, or almost out, of bagels. The last time I stopped in, around noon so nearly three hours before closing, they had exactly one--count 'em--one bagel left. Plus six plain ones in the day-old bin. And all the good flavors of cream cheese were sold out. I mean, egg nog? Jalapeno? Seriously? My advice to the owners or managers of Southland Bagels is pretty basic: You want to sell more bagels? This bagel place was within walking distance of our Airbnb in Lexington, and we never say no to a bagel in the morning. Their offerings were varied and all sounded tasty! I got the migos on sesame, and while most bagel sandwiches I've had in the past used other cheeses not cream cheese, the bacon and egg and cream cheese combo was really tasty on the nice, tall and chewy bagel. We got a bag of the "day olds" to go too, and enjoyed bagels the next morning after waking up in our Airbnb after the wedding we were in town for: good decision! If we're back in Lexington we'd definitely grab more bagels from Southland bagel. read more

We are big bagel fans and went to Southland Bagel for the first time this past weekend. I ordered a mocha and the Migos. The Migos is comprised of Your favorite Southland bagel served with bacon, egg, and your choice of cream cheese, cheddar or swiss. This combination was delicious and very messy. Make sure to grab napkins before you start eating! They were very busy and appeared to stay that way the entire time we were there. It's a very small bagel shop so there isn't much room for sitting but they were frequented by people doing carryout as well. Keep this in mind when you go as food can take a minute to prepare with such large crowds and a small operating crew. read more

I have been excited to try Southland Bagel after they moved into their location on Southland! After hearing many good things about Southland Bagel from their beginnings selling at the Lexington Farmer's Market, my husband and I went to check out their new brick-and-mortar location! They have a lot of different sandwich options on their menu and it seems to be a good price for value. They even have a vegan cream "cheese" which I look forward to trying! The bagel types vary by day, so make sure to give them a follow on instagram to keep up! The only suggestion I have would be to remake their sign. Driving or walking by, I would have no idea what the shop is for, as the word "bagel" is very very small. I like the athletic-looking lettering style but it almost looks to me like a baseball store. The bagels I got were za'atar, and I liked the light dusting of spices they had better than some overwrought bagels of the same flavor I've had elsewhere. The bagels weren't toasted and they put the sandwich on a brioche bun. 5 employees up front more in the back.....the wait time was just wayyy to long even though they were busy it was only to spread some cream cheese (not toast because they didn't) on two bagels and the Melt some cheese on the wrong bread I won't be back. Even if I had noticed before I left all three were wrong they were out of bagels.... Very irritating. read more

So my friend Victoria and I tried our cute little neighborhood bagel spot today and absolutely loved it! Because of covid we weren't allowed to eat inside but they did have curbside service available and we could also go inside and order and there was a couch where you could sit and wait. Also really cute merchandise for sale too (t-shirts, hoodies, coffee, 6 for $5 day old bagels, etc.). I got the after school special bagel which had pimento cheese, spicy pickles, tomato and spring mix and added grilled turkey to it on a poppy seed bagel with plain cream cheese on the side. I also got an iced cold brew with unsweetened vanilla flavoring (all flavors come unsweetened). I would have added almond milk but they didn't have any so I added that and some sweet n low when I got home and still was kind of disappointed. They definitely aren't known for their coffee lol which is why I had to knock them down a star lol. My friend got the migos which had bacon, egg and plain cream cheese on a poppy seed bagel and she also got a vanilla iced latte with regular milk. She ended up having to add almond milk and sweet n low to it but then it became too sweet so yah win some you lose some lol. Overall it was a yummy Sunday breakfast but I think we'll stick to our normal Starbucks iced chai lattes!! read more

I wanted to try this place out as it's the only other bagel shop in town. I wanted to love it.... but just did not. I was hoping that it would be more affordable than Great Bagel but quickly found out it was just the same price and in my opinion worse quality. It was an average bagel but the part I did not like the most was that they used sausage links instead of sausage patties which gave the bagel a weird consistency. As far as the shop itself goes the aesthetic is spot on and very clean. The staff is friendly and they also brew Nate's Coffee, which is a favorite of mine. They are headed in a great direction and I think the place has great potential, just needs to make some adjustments to the food. As of now I will not be going back there for a while but hope that they take some of these concerns into consideration and when I go back in a few months I can change this review! read more

Wanted to try out a new small business today and this place looked cute! I will say my husband and I were a bit disappointed. The coffee only came in 1 size, everything was unsweetened (which is fine for me but not him) and the coffee tasted burnt with little to none of the supposed ingredients. We only got one bagel and it was mediocre at best. The sausage tasted like it was vegan sausage and had an odd consistency. Honestly like a frozen fast food breakfast sandwich.
