I placed a take out order for a Standard burger and fries this evening. Upon arrival back home I opened my meal and grabbed a French fry , it was as hard a rock. All of the fries were just as hard. I live 3 minutes from the restaurant so distance and travel time was not the issue, the fries were just over cooked and horrible. The burger was good after I added some dressing, but what's a burger without fries? I am not one to get in the car and drive back for some fries but I was extremely disappointed with my dinner tonight. read more

Ordered empanadas as Beer Snacks and they were just Ok; a little doughy and the beef filling had some gristle. The spinach one was better. Now, my lasagna with garlic toast was mouth watering and the Wild Salmon Quinoa salad my husband found very flavorful which he rates it 5 stars for a healthy entree. This was our first time at Brew kitchen ale house and it was awesome loved the New Yorker pizza my son loved the kids burger and fry's the wife got a salmon salad she was a fan as well can't wait to come back next time I'm getting a burger...and the service,the guy who helped us was super friendly and really cool the kids were loud as kids are (3.5years and 1year old) but that didn't seem to bother anybody which made us feel very comfortable! My wife and I decided to check this place out for lunch since it's close to where we grocery shop. So glad we did, food was excellent. Place has 28 beers on tap and they rotate the selection. You can get taster size, regular size, or large size servings. They also claim to have over 200 bottled beers to choose from. Food wise they serve pizza, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and grilled items. Grilled food is cooked over almond wood. They bake their own bread and make all their own sauces! To start we shared an appetizer of pretzel bites which came with course ground mustard, garlic butter, and beer cheese sauce to dip in. You got 6 and they were pretty large. About the size of "garlic knots" you get at Italian restaurants. They smelled and looked so good I forgot to take a picture before digging in. They were fresh out of the oven and tasted great. All three dips were tasty but I think the mustard was my favorite. Planning on being good on my diet I was going to get their grilled salmon but had an epic failure of willpower and ended up with the "smokin' bacon burger". The house ground burger is made from 50% chuck and 50% brisket and it appeared to be 1/2 pound. It was topped with a stack of thick cherry wood bacon, cheddar, fried onions, and a spicy chipotle BBQ sauce. I haven't had a burger in ages so my judgement may be impaired but man, this was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Juicy, saturated with smokey flavor thanks to being grilled over wood, and a fricken pile of high quality bacon. Even though I blew my diet man was it worth it. It was served with a paper sack full of french fries. Donna had the "Frankies Perro Tijuanero" which was a bacon wrapped andouille sausage topped with grilled jalapenos and onions. So much flavor packed into that meal. I took a bite and was surprised how spicy the sausage was. Paired with the jalapenos it's muy caliente y delicioso. I was expecting a regular bar & grill and ended up at a gastropub with great blues music playing and friendly service. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Kid friendly also. Great place to grab some locally sourced beer, watch a sporting event and enjoy some good food. The beer list is fairly extensive, and they feature a wide variety of local breweries and craft beers. A brewery that shows up a lot is Artifex, which is based out of San Clemente. There's enough of a range of beers to satisfy any palate, and if you want to try multiple ones, tasting sizes are offered. The prosciutto truffle pizza was pretty good. It's a 10" thin New York style pizza. The truffle flavor is subtle and comes in towards the end of each bite. Each slice of pizza has 1 piece of prosciutto rolled and placed on top. The meat was cured well, with a soft and tender texture. The ancho tequila chicken wings are fantastic. The wings are on the large side and plump with meat. The ancho tequila sauce is a little sweet and spicy and the flavors play very well together. The wings have a nice smoky flavor to them and the chicken is piping hot and succulent. The skin has a little bit of a crisp to them, but you won't mistake them for being deep fried. The andouille sausage used in the bacon wrapped hot dog has a very big spicy kick to it. The grilled onions and tomatoes that are placed on top help balance out the bold, meaty flavors from the sausage and bacon. Everything is served in a bun so massive it might as well be a sandwich instead of a hot dog. The fries were a bit disappointing because although they were seasoned well, they were a bit soggy. The smokin' bacon burger uses a chuck and brisket blend for the patty. The patty is thick and juicy, cooked to a medium doneness, and then cherry wood bacon, melted cheddar and crispy onion strings are piled high on top of it. The service was very pleasant and informative. He gave very accurate and detailed descriptions of the menu offerings, helping us make wise decisions on what to order. This is the overall best restaurant in the Los Alamitos area. The first best thing is that their wine list (given only if you ask for it) is nearly as good as their excellent and extensive beer on tap list. Not typical for a brew house! Second best thing is that service is always okay to excellent, and mostly good to excellent. Very minimal errors, usually prompt, often friendly. Last but not least: menu is not only diverse and interesting but also well-executed nearly all the time. I consistently try new dishes because I love nearly everything. 15-20 dishes into the menu, there are only one or two I wouldn't order again -- good dishes, but not in line with some of my preferences (e.g. I prefer a different style of chili than what they use for their chili cheese fries, for example.) My favorites include: - All the pasta dishes, esp. lasagne, basic mac & cheese, salmon bowtie, red scampi, etc. - All the burgers I've had esp. Sancho (haven't gotten to a couple) - Mussels - Meatball sliders - Backyard combo - Wings (all styles) - Salmon entree - Cheap chop Haven't had the pizzas yet! I'm so happy I bookmarked this place and eventually decided to come in. My friend and I were given the option to sit inside or outside, and with it being a 75 degree day with a breeze meant it was a no-brainer. Their little outdoor patio seating area is very nice and the high top tables make for good views of the surrounding area. Our sever, Taylor, was EXTREMELY nice and helpful throughout our whole dining experience. She asked us if it was our first time there (which is was) and made sure to give us her insight on all of the beer selection they have as well as the amazing food options on their menu here. She also made sure to let us know that there were in fact a few beers that they didn't have at the moment (before we even tried to order beers), so that made it helpful in knowing what was available. We ordered a Wings appetizer which we both agreed was good. Definitely a different tasting order of wings that I'm used to since we're accustomed to ordering either Buffalo or BBQ wings; this one has several different sauces on it that make for a very yummy taste. I do think they were slightly burnt though, but not enough to ruin the taste of it. They were still good! We also ordered the Mac&Cheese entree (full size) with bacon added to split between us two inside which was excellent. I do think that since they offer an "appetizer version" for half the cost, that the one we ordered would be a tad bigger. Regardless though, it was good, just a little bit pricy. We added garlic bread on the side for a $1 and I honestly did not like it at all. I think the French bread was very hard and somewhat older tasting (maybe slightly stale?). I'm not sure to be honest. I think next time I come I will try the little pretzel bites because they are highly regarded here. Definitely come here during their happy hour. Stopped by to grab a couple of brews and a snack with a friend. I've been told prior that this place gets pretty busy but was chill the night of my visit with just a few customers (including myself) inside. We grabbed a seat at the bar and went straight to ordering beers and empanadas. I ordered a Rex Corridor Of Uncertainty as recommended by the bartender. The beer was hoppy but had a smooth after taste just as she had stated. Another round was ordered and shortly after the Brew Kitchen empanadas arrived. The empanadas were decent. Each had a different filling (spinach, beef & chicken) with the beef being the best of the three due to it's similar taste to a shepherd's pie. A dish I enjoy a lot. The big highlight wasn't the empanadas themselves but the beer cheese sauce that came with them. That was some good stuff, so much so I began dipping my fries in it. I quickly asked for a refill when the cheese was close to empty. The beers were cold and the atmospehere chill which prompts a future visit for myself. The 3 stars is for the god awful food prices that this place is charging now. We had not been since pre covid. The happy hour pre covid was great. They took all that away. So wings cost $16.95 for 7wings. That's all we got. What the actual f!!!!!! We also ordered a Caesar salad that use to come with a bacon fig jam in it and was very good. Now it's a basic Cesar with hard bacon you can barley chew. I'm so sad about this that we will not be back anymore. A friend brought me here for first time last night. It was all around amazing from the food to the service. Since Covid it has been very hard to get good/great service. Our server was amazingly quick but friendly so we didn't feel rushed out. We ordered the pretzel bites ( amazing!) and the Jack and Coke wings ( double amazing) for appetizers. For dinner I ordered the brisket sandwiches with the bbq sauce on the side. I am glad I did because I didn't care much for the sauce the sandwich came with. Great patio seating. Super friendly service. Tempting menu. Easy parking. Came by after going over the OC Best Burger list and saw the Sancho Burger here. Figured why not. The beer is decent. The selection isn't too fancy but you have a fair selection of basic imports and a few crafts which is exactly what you need in a place like this. I don't come to a restaurant of this nature expecting some high end pish tosh lecture on breweries, so you'll find a decent pint here but don't complain when you don't see obscure little labels. Pretzel balls were fantastic! Subtly crispy crust and soft but chewy inside. Dipping sauces were all good but I liked the mustard the most. Fries were good but you don't get very much of them. Ordered extra crispy and they were perfect. BBQ Bacon burger was....well...it was fine. Meat was good. Juicy and flavorful without an aftertaste. The BBQ was incredibly sweet and sticky which I didn't like at all because it dominated everything else. The onion straws were soggy from the sauce and I couldn't taste them at all. The bacon was great and cut thick but I had to eat it separately because it was too tough to bite through. Bread held together but started to give way at the end. Not a big deal. Sancho Burger was TOO SPICY. I love spicy food and I eat chili peppers as side dishes but I don't know what it is was with this thing. It was all heat and no flavor. Disappointing. I'd say more but the spice sort of took any other feedback out of the experience. I don't think I'd come back but I will say that I believe most people would enjoy it here. It's great for mainstream burger tastes so come by and, if anything, enjoy the atmosphere and the friendly staff.
