    Their version of NACHOS

Hmmm where to begin. Jill the bartender welcomed us with "Ugh just to let you know we close in 20 minutes. And the kitchen is already closed." Um it's 710 and the website says closes at 8 pm.? On a Saturday. We ordered the nachos a couple of days before and photo enclosed below. We came in again hoping not to get Jill bc we wanted to watch the Dodger game. Oh well ... It's close by for games so probably come back but def won't order food.

I was invited to the primrose this evening, by my 87 year friend. Penny dines there at least four times a week. We arrived and I saw lamb shank was the special for the day. Now lamb shank, is my favorite. I order it at the Eldo, every time I go. The special dinner today was lamb shank. I ordered it and it was amazing. So much food for 3 meals.

I wish I could give more than five stars. I don't know why my friend wanted to go here. On the drive she was telling me that the food wasn't that good, yet, here is where she wanted to go. We were both incredibly happy with our meals. My patty melt was perfectly cooked. The onions were perfectly cooked albeit I would have liked more. I only had two pickles, but was able to get more by asking. The fries are the skinny variety and they were tossed with a seasoning making for a happy bite. The coleslaw is freshly sliced, and then tossed with their homemade coleslaw dressing, which is better than mine. Primrose is a tiny diner with an adjoining bar one can reach through a door connecting the two. There is outside sitting. I was laughing at my friend who opened up the wrong door entering the bar. She was told by a patron that the restaurant was next-door. She apologized, then closed the door to go in the other entry. There's a door with opening to both the restaurant and bar! Why couldn't we just walked into the bar? People are so bossy. We giggled about what boobs we humans are as we ate.

Eggs, hash browns and sausage. With two tiny cubes of watermelon.

Both service and atmosphere isn't the most welcoming feeling on a Monday morning (10am). Service improved with a bigger smile when we were finishing up and leaving. Breakfast dishes were good but hard to get eggs, omelets, and hash browns wrong. Two out of the three water glasses and strange black specks in it so my kids revised to drink it. We still enjoyed our food. I'd recommend take out if you had no other choices.

We had read some reviews giving high praise, and we thought this would be the perfect place to try on our special day. We ordered the scallops, as well as the lamb chop and both the french onion and cauliflower/fennel bisque. Each item we ordered was phenomenal. The bisque was exquisite -- such warm, earthy flavors but fresh and light also. The french onion is already a fan favorite, and my husband happily agreed with those who love it. The scallops were so delicious -- I loved every bite -- but the star of the show was the lamb chop. It was perfect. We ordered desserts and the cheesecake and creme brulee were just the right addition. The waitstaff was so attentive and thoughtful. Very professional and knowledgable. We really enjoyed our evening and will be sure to return.

Dessert was a complimentary cheesecake with berries and a Crème Brûlée. The Brussel Sprouts were meh, tastes better. However, better than I make at home. Will definitely return. Menu is limited. Wait Service by Tanner was great.

We stopped by on Sunday afternoon. Perhaps due to the time, getting a table was easy, even as…read morewalk-ins. The available menu was the brunch menu. We started with appetizers: mussels ($23) and braised lamb belly ($25). For the main course, we ordered a ribeye steak ($69), Scottish salmon ($46), and "dirty pasta" ($36). Drinks included a glass of wine ($17) and a glass of Coke ($4.50). With tax ($23.15) and an "employee benefits" charge ($5.51), the total came to $249.16 before gratuity. The mussels are cooked in a broth of white wine, nduja sausage, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and parsley, with a toasted baguette served on the side. I liked the overall taste of the dish, but the mussels were small. The braised lamb belly was an interesting dish, as it was served with kimchi and thin sheets of daikon radish on the side. I assumed the idea was to make a "taco" by combining the three components. I liked it, though the lamb had bit of gaminess which might not appeal to everyone. The ribeye plate comes as steak only, with sides available à la carte. The steak was cooked nicely--juicy and flavorful, though I was a bit surprised by how rich it tasted. The "dirty pasta" features large rigatoni, ground duck, ricotta, and sauce. It was good, and the duck made for an interesting change from the usual beef. As a complete plated meal, I think the Scottish salmon was impressive--both for its visual presentation and the taste of the meal as a whole. The restaurant floor has a split-level design. Upon entering, you'll find a large oval bar surrounded by tables and booths. Step down a level, and there are seats offering views of the Long Beach marina. This area with a view is protected by windows--which is good, as the marine air is often cool and breezy. It seems that nearly all the establishments owned by this restaurant group have names starting with the letter or word "A." When searching online, use the words "a pch restaurant," as "a pch" alone is apparently too vague a search term. A final note to management: I was surprised to see a $5.51 charge for "employee benefit" on our bill. I playfully asked our server what benefits this covered, but they didn't know. They mentioned it could be removed if I objected, but I chose not to. My point is, if you're charging diners, shouldn't your staff be able to explain it? And if the line item can be so easily discharged, maybe you shouldn't be adding it in the first place.

For starters, we got the Parker House Rolls, which comes with truffle butter, local citrus honey, and grana padano cheese. These rolls were so fluffy and flavorful. We also ordered the hummus, which was so rich and creamy, and the oysters from the raw bar. For the main, we ordered the Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop, Fish & Chips, and the Wedge salad to share. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It had your key ingredients: iceberg, buttermilk dressing, red onion, crumbled egg, tomato, bacon gastrique, blue cheese, dill, chives - but something about this salad was different! It was so refreshing, flavorful--just everything you want in a dish. We ended the dining experience with their Peach Cobbler Hand Pie, which came with streusel, pistachio crumble, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the area!
