This was my first time I ate at this establishment. This establishment is divided into restaurant and bar and I chose the restaurant side. The restaurant was not very busy when I was there. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. I had "wooder" to drink. Later I ordered a chocolate milkshake. The burger and fries were tasty. I ordered the cheeseburger plain and dry and that request was honoured. The milkshake was very good. Men's washroom was clean and paper towels were available... good. However while the men's washroom had both a urinal and commode, there were no walls to afford privacy to someone using the commode which basically turned the washroom into a facility only one person could use at a time. I consider that to be a deficiency and when this establishment is busy one men's washroom may not be adequate. If I was to assign a letter grade as is done in school, this establishment would get an A-. read more

The Primrose is not the rose as it use to be. Between the cook and the server they couldn't get the orders right. Tough to screw up a side of zucchini and then bring out half zuch's and onion rings. Then a chili size asking for the bread on the side and the chili w/patty as normal. Nope! Not tasty at all. (My friend asked me to taste her chili. They must open a lot of cans at this place). Then stale bread served with lunch meat for 1/2 sandwich. (As I wondered to why they toasted the bread on the first round). Good trick to cover stale bread. The lettuce was stacked higher than the two thin slices of lunch meat. I just added the innards to my side salad. I have to say the salad dressing of Ranch was nice and thick and tasty for the zuch's, onion rings, and side salad ! Thats why I gave this two stars! Too bad I didn't take a picture. Primrose I've been coming here regularly and have always appreciated the staff, especially the outdoor patio and the service. Unfortunately, after a recent experience, I won't be returning. I have a diagnosed auditory processing disorder, which makes it extremely difficult to understand speech in noisy environments. This isn't about preference--it's a real limitation. Excessive background noise doesn't just make things "a little loud" for me--it makes conversation nearly impossible and can even be physically uncomfortable. On a recent visit, the music on the outdoor patio was already very loud--loud enough that customers had to move to the farthest corner just to hold a conversation. The waitress tried to help but couldn't adjust the volume because she didn't have access to the controls. The following day, the situation was worse. I could hear the music clearly from the parking area before I even sat down. When I asked if it could be turned down slightly so I could sit, read, and enjoy a simple iced tea before ordering dinner, I was told the owner had explicitly said not to change it. At that point, I left without even touching my drink. What makes this more frustrating is that the restaurant also has a separate enclosed bar area--so there is already a space where louder music would make sense. Instead, the patio dining area is being treated the same way. This is also a location next to Leisure World, with an older customer base. This isn't a nightclub--it's a neighborhood restaurant where people come to relax, talk, and eat. Blasting music at that level makes the space unusable for anyone who values conversation, and especially for those of us with hearing challenges. The staff has always been kind and accommodating, but in this case, they were clearly not given the ability to help. If you enjoy loud music while dining, this may not bother you. But if you expect a comfortable, conversation-friendly environment--or if you have any kind of hearing difficulty--you may want to think twice. read more

I wish I could give more than five stars. I don't know why my friend wanted to go here. On the drive she was telling me that the food wasn't that good, yet, here is where she wanted to go. We were both incredibly happy with our meals. My patty melt was perfectly cooked. The onions were perfectly cooked albeit I would have liked more. I only had two pickles, but was able to get more by asking. The fries are the skinny variety and they were tossed with a seasoning making for a happy bite. The coleslaw is freshly sliced, and then tossed with their homemade coleslaw dressing, which is better than mine. Primrose is a tiny diner with an adjoining bar one can reach through a door connecting the two. There is outside sitting. I was laughing at my friend who opened up the wrong door entering the bar. She was told by a patron that the restaurant was next-door. She apologized, then closed the door to go in the other entry. There's a door with opening to both the restaurant and bar! Was in the area and recommended to try this place. As soon as I walked in, was greated with a smile and menu. Was told can sit anywhere then decided to sit in the bar area. Sautéed onions, mushrooms, melted cheese and big beef Patty melted in my mouth. The fries were good but the their onion rings were amazing. Ordered two of their so-called famous turkey dinners, was later informed they only had enough ingredients for one dinner. What a joke, their so-called oven roasted turkey was really only cold cuts off of a pressed turkey deli roll. Their So-called mashed potatoes never did show up. If this is a family-owned restaurant, then all the original family owners have left the building a very long time ago or flown the coop along with all of their turkeys. Now it is just operating on its past loreals and what Clients come by from the Senior Living community down the street. Both service and atmosphere isn't the most welcoming feeling on a Monday morning (10am). Service improved with a bigger smile when we were finishing up and leaving. Breakfast dishes were good but hard to get eggs, omelets, and hash browns wrong. Two out of the three water glasses and strange black specks in it so my kids revised to drink it. The good: brunette server / bartender named Robin is absolutely fantastic, always friendly and makes going there fun! Food specials are good, homemade soup. The less than good: the man, might be the owner, Frank? Is grumpy and makes it not fun. The bad: blonde server named Jill picked up a piece of food that fell off my appetizer plate with her bare hand, put it back on the plate and laughed. Absolutely gross and disgusting. She has the personality of a rock. She approached me and my dining partner and just stands there looking at us without saying anything. We have to ask for what we want to order, she barely responds. I planned to go for breakfast and then cross the parking area to the Farmers Market that is held every Tuesday. First time here so I was curious if I should order at the register or sit in a booth. The lady at the register said to have a seat and she would be right with me and take my order. I asked if they had biscuits and gravy as it was not on the menu. The lady said not as a breakfast but they do have it. I ordered two scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy and fresh fruit. Shortly the lady brought my order: Two fried eggs with an English Muffin and fresh fruit. I explained that it was not what I ordered. She returned shortly with two scrambled eggs: a biscuit, fresh canteloupe/honeydew, and a small bowl of gravy. The fruit had several seeds on it and was on what appeared to be a recycled lettuce leaf. The gravy was flat and could be greatly improved if it had sausage pieces cooked in for flavor. I also had a cup of coffee which was brown. Suggestion: Research your recipes and your serving preparation. Hire a pro cleaning company to do a DEEP cleaning of the rooms and furniture. Wow. This place is filthy. I've been to restaurants that have gone above and beyond to ensure sanitation and cleanliness during these times, but it's evident the staff here couldn't care less about the laws and regulations. I feel bad for the waitress as she's working alone. But not a single table has been wiped down. The glasses, utensils, ketchup, bottles, etc. have grime like they haven't been cleaned in months. The tables and chairs on the patio are literally sticky. When asked for a wipe down, the waitress said it won't come out and walked away. The hot turkey was served over white bread along with mashed potatoes on the side, both smothered in a dark brown gravy. The turkey meal did not come with cranberry sauce. The food is bland but that's because their major client base is Leisure World. The broasted chicken is so overcooked it's dry and stringy. The clam chowder is best used as wall paper paste. I ordered a salad. I asked if they had a vinaigrette dressing. They did not, so I settled for Italian dressing. I also ordered a shrimp cocktail. I like it spicy and asked the waitress if it was spicy. She said no, and offered Tabasco sauce for it. I instead ordered a side of horseradish to add to it. The salad came out first. It was so bland, it was like there was no dressing at all, even though I could see the oil covering it. About ten minutes later, our entrees came out. I was about to tell the waitress to cancel the shrimp cocktail which was ordered as an appetizer since I had figured that they must have forgotten it, however she beat me to it by telling me that she was coming back with it. Horseradish did hardly anything to this cold mini-shrimp soup served in a milkshake glass. The chicken fried steak was decent, even though it was overcooked a bit. There was also a small scoop of lumpy room temperature mashed potatoes, a small serving of steamed soft vegetables (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower which needed salt & pepper) and a hard bread roll that looked like it had a large bandage on it. All in all, the food was what I expected from a place so close to a gated senior community. Hospital food. Oh yeah, there's a bar built into the side of the restaurant.
