Cool little place over the footbridge in Chattanooga friendly good beer nice atmosphere

One of my favorite restaurants in Chattanooga! Authentic German dishes with an American twist. Interior reminds me of a place in southern Germany. Low ceilings, not fancy, clean and natural lighting. You've got to try the King Ludwig! Not the most dietary thing in the world..but it's worth the calories. Pimento cheese taste great and has a hint of spicy to it. Fried Sauerkraut Balls are Delicious!!! Awesome beer selection and HUGE steins to drink out of. Only downside is the limited parking and the restrooms are small and unkempt. One of the best views in Chattanooga, too. Overlooks the river and the Walnut Bridge. Very attractive weight staff. We had the friendliest waitress with the prettiest smile during my last visit..which was icing on the cake! I can't say enough good things about Brewhaus. If you can only go to one restaurant in Chattanooga..go here! read more

If it had been a little warmer out we would have opted to sit outside, but after reading reviews on here maybe it's a good thing we sat inside?!?! We happened to pony up to the bar. Sitting at the bar as I'm finding out generally leads to better service. And that we did. I don't recall the bartender's name but she was super nice, johnnie on the spot, let us taste the different beers on tap before we made a commitment. Which was great because you had a choice of half liter or liter and that my friends is a shit ton of beer. We also opted for the appetizer sampler. It's served with a trio of mustards. I adore me some mustard- these were chunky flavorful grails of mustard. The fried ball things were interesting, sausage was flavorful, pretzel was- fried...kind of odd but we ravaged the sucker. It was all good but just not outstanding. I would go back and try some other things on the menu and sit outside. The place is an odd mix of dive bar/German restaurant/ hipster spot. Outstanding casual restaurant/bar. I knew it would be great as I took my first swig of the hefe weise bier. Immediately reminisced about lazy days along the Rhine River. This is a fairly authentic German restaurant. The food was wonderful. My wife and I will definitely be back. read more

By far the best pretzel I have ever had. I order pretzels and beer cheese at every restaurant. No other restaurant can top this pretzel. The pretzel came with three different mustards, beer cheese, and pimento cheese. The spicy sausage was cooked perfect with a pretzel bun and I added pimento cheese. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Lastly, the view is amazing. A sight to see! read more

Big beers, good service. Pretzel was delicious, though I'm sure it was slathered in a thick coat of butter before baking based on its delicious smell, so don't think it's a remotely healthy option. Liked the offering of mustards, beer cheese wasn't worth the $2 for two tablespoons of so-so flavor. German potato salad was on point. read more

Had the Jager Schnitzel with German potato salad and vegetables. Amazing! Schnitzel's breading was still crispy despite the sauce and who knew regular sauteed vegetables could be so tasty and fresh? The German potato salad is a MUST HAVE! I don't care what you get but add a side of German potato salad to it. Came on a Monday unaware of the e $3 beer specials. First-Rate Food and Friendly Brewhaus succeeds where others fail. Several visits with clients and friends have been good experiences with food and service. The Brewhaus sampler with brat sliders and kraut balls is excellent and can serve as a filling meal. The King Ludwig is a wonderful sandwich, but I leave off the apple butter. The service is friendly, relatively fast depending on crowd size but always reasonable, and the beer drinkers in my party have always enjoyed their brews. With family, we often order different items to share. When beer and food lovers from out-of-town ask where they should go, this is the place I recommend in the greater downtown area. Most have made repeat visits in the same weekend and have, without exception, been very pleased. I also think it's safer after dark than some other downtown locations. No panhandlers and sketchies lurking about so it's better if you have kids-in-tow or slow-moving seniors. It's nice to have a restaurant where I have confidence to send others without worrying about an "off-night" at Brewhaus. read more

Was going to eat here with my Boyfriend and his family, but as we parked and began to walk to go meet his family in Backstreet Betty's right down the street an employee rudely yelled "Folks you should know we tow in this lot." We tried to tell him that we intended to come back once we met up with the rest of our group, and he yelled "Yeah sure, that's what everybody says." Bf and I were taken aback by how unnecessarily rude he was. I understand that the parking here is very limited, but there's no need to be hostile towards customers. The exchange left us both with a bad taste in our mouths, so we moved our car and went to The Big Chill instead. Very kind servers there. It's a shame, I was excited to try German food. read more

The food here was amazing! While parking looked like it could be a problem, we were there just after the lunch crowd and it was easy. We shared two appetizers, the pretzel and deviled eggs, and had plenty for six people. The lunches were chicken salad, the sampler platters, brats, and a burger. My wife and I enjoyed our quick visit to Brewhaus. The food was pretty good, certainly not the greatest German cuisine I've had, but still hits the spot. I highly recommend trying their different mustards if you are a fan. The atmosphere is most definitely beer focused, with food as an add on. I went to Chattanooga for my honeymoon and we stopped by Brewhaus because it was right down the street from where we were staying. I was not disappointed. Brewhaus - Awesome balcony - German Near Me - Chattanooga, Tennessee

Anyone who knows me knows I love good German food. And finding it can be a real challenge. Thus, when I was told about this during my onsite visit today, I made my decision to give it a try. I was favorably influenced by Johnny C.'s review, below. Being a local, I figured he would have a good handle on dining in Chattanooga. I'll give him credit -- he hit this one out of the park! I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on the varieties offered. I came for the food, and quickly decided I'd have The Spaetzle, which the menu claims is a "classic done un-classically." Well, words are words and food is food. Offered two sides with the signature spaetzle and brats, I chose the red cabbage ("bier cabbage") and potato cakes. The dish arrived soon, and it was well-presented: two perfectly cooked bratwurst riding a bed of spaetzle in a cream sauce, several sliced baby tomatoes separating the side orders, and just begging to be eaten. And eat I did. I prefer my spaetzle boiled, not sauteed, and so I was twice pleased! Every dish was excellent, and I cleaned the plate. Well-sated, I toyed with the idea of dessert. I figured if they did this good a job on the main course, the Schwartzwalder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Cherry Cake) would be equally tasty. Alas, they were sold out, so I didn't have to leave with a calorie-deficit guilt trip! It was a decidedly nice evening, and the choices of seating are plentiful. I chose to sit on the porch, looking out at the Walnut Street Bridge. Now THAT's what I call sightseeing! read more
