This is my favorite local coffee place. They roast their own beans, which you can also buy. Their coffee is great. That staff is always friendly and the place is cute. It's off a small side road, so you won't ever find it by just driving by, but it's absolutely worth going to and is always less busy than other nearby places.

My friend and I came here after a run for a morning coffee and baked good and it was such a great spot! It's a little hidden but the building is so cute and in such a quaint area. I really enjoyed my latte and their croissant and chocolate croissant were so good as well! It's a great no fuss, simple place. The barista and cashier were very friendly and it was such a nice space to chat or study.

    In-house roasted whole bean coffees.

When in the mood for well-made coffee, I much prefer going to a coffee roasters rather than a regular coffee shop. "I'll have a half-caf, double decaf, soy chai latte with an inch of foam and a twist"...no. You won't find that here. There are 2 types of hot coffee, batch brewed and pour over. There are 4 espresso based drinks, cold brew and tea. That's the menu. There's something about the crafting of a cup, from raw bean to brew, that's alluring, nerdy, and, yes, slightly elitist. The roasters and the baristas have an opportunity to be artisans. Brewtus seems to prefer light to medium roasts to extract the most character and flavor out of their beans. The 25 minute drive to get a cup was worth it. It's been worth it every time.

The baristas were very kind and made great drinks!! Definitely would recommend if you're in the area. The pastries were also very delicious! Soft and buttery! Perfect addition to the coffee. Good space for a chat or to do some work.

Great addition to Delmar. Great coffee roaster in a hip industrial space. Been here a few times and always enjoy their espresso based beverages and coffees. Thank you Brewtus!

    It's a garage! It's coffee. It's cute

I don't live in Delmar but I really like it and come often. Brewtus has been on my to try list since moving to Albany in July. Finally Made it and then 2x in a week. It's very cool, hipster; natch! But why not be hipster and cool, it fits in perfectly in this charming little enclave of Albany. I basically only drink black coffee products. On my first visit it I had time for a pour over.. the daily blend was a medium roast that drank bolder. Yum. 2nd visit was an americano, my test of any coffee shop. Win. Pass. Repeat. These guys have a large parking area with an outdoor tent to accommodate the wretched situation we are in. The inside is spacious so crowds won't be an issue. Come and support this local, small biz.

Stopped in here early on a Wednesday morning. Love this place! We have other coffee spots in Delmar which are great for their own reasons, and Brewtus Roasting stands out as being the coffee spot for the true coffee aficionado (and it's also a great place for a quick cuppa if the lines are too long up the street). Hours: 7am-1pm Who will love Brewtus Roasting: To make a simple cup of coffee at home, my husband uses a scale to weigh the exact amount of beans, a special grinder, and an electric kettle which heats the water to the perfect temperature. If this sounds like you or someone you love, Brewtus is the spot for you. He and the owner chatted at length about their love of African beans versus coffee from other places while I wandered around picking out snacks. Fun facts about Brewtus: Brewtus roasts their own coffee beans and sells retail bags you can buy right at the shop or at the Delmar Farmer's Market, and they also sell wholesale to local restaurants and shops. As soon as they start carrying kombucha for the non-coffee or non-tea drinker, this place will be 11/10 in my book. Directions and parking: Non-locals or by car: It's very easy to get here by car or bike right off Delaware Ave. There is a parking lot directly alongside the left of the building, plus PLENTY of parking all over the place on Hallwood Rd. Delmartians coming from the bike path: You can access this place directly off the bike path two different ways. - The first way is before Curtis Lumber, there's a little path that dumps you into a parking lot diagonal from the 365 Fit building. - The second entrance is a little steeper and it's the path which goes onto the road Curtis Lumber is on. Just go past Curtis Lumber and turn left on Hallwood Rd, it's on your right. For bike path users, this is a PERFECT place to grab a snack and a coffee or water (like I said earlier, he's looking into getting kombucha, too!) mid-ride or walk as long as you arrive before 1pm.

Delicious biscotti, banana bread and latte.

What a great place! Friendly owner. Delicious coffee. I recommend the half cafe. They will bag some up for you on the spot if theydon'tt have any out for sale. In-house I like to enjoy the lattes. Dont miss out on the biscotti. Dark chocolate sea salt... Im not normally a biscotti fan but it is delicious!

It's been a while since Stephen opened here: it's still the best coffee within a decent drive, whether drip or espresso-based.

We had the dark roast and would have thought it would be a little more robust in flavor but it wasn't. It seemed a bit weak like not enough coffee used or the roast wasn't roasted dark enough. The service was great however so that was a plus. Nice and friendly staff all the way around. There were a lot of locals there so it seems to do a decent business. But to be honest, it's the only coffee house in town. The place seemed a bit dark and dirty. The exhaust system must be not working or not strong enough because the entire place smelled of what ever was being cooked on the griddle. We sat upstairs and our eyes watered the entire time we were there. The odor got on our clothes and stuck with us until we got home. Their restroom wasn't clearly marked and was kind of hidden back by the kitchen area. It was also very dark where it was located. A little more light all the way around would be helpful. The concept and decor is a great idea but it felt more like what we use to call a "greasy spoon" restaurant than a quaint coffee house. It won't take much to make it better but as it is, can't say much good about the experience it Iron Coffee Co. I hope they take this review in a positive light as there really isn't much that needs to be done to make it a very special place to go for coffee. Note: We didn't have anything to eat so can't comment on that.

If you're the kind of person who genuinely loves coffee -- not just "needs caffeine," but…read moreappreciates what it can be when someone actually gives a damn -- Upstate Coffee is the place. This isn't one of those generic "we have espresso and oat milk" spots where everything tastes like it came off a corporate checklist. This is coffee that feels intentional. Like someone is behind it, obsessing over every detail so your cup comes out right. What makes Upstate Coffee special isn't just that it tastes incredible (it does), it's the fact that the owner cares in a way that's rare now. You can tell immediately this isn't a business built around shortcuts or trends -- it's built around pride, discipline, and hospitality. The type of person who isn't satisfied unless the product is perfect, and who treats customers like people, not transactions. And I don't mean "customer service smile." I mean the kind of care where it's obvious the goal isn't to sell you coffee... it's to serve you something the owner would confidently hand to his closest friends and family and say: "This is the best version of this product I can make." That's the standard. The coffee itself is next-level. The flavors are clean, balanced, and consistent -- not burnt, not bitter, not overly acidic for no reason. It's roasted locally with precision, and you can feel that difference immediately. There's a clarity to the flavor profile that's hard to find unless you're dealing with someone who understands roasting like a craft, not a production line. One of the things I respect most is that this is being done in an organic-certified lab environment, and they take it seriously. That might sound like a "small detail" to some people, but it shows the bigger truth: Upstate Coffee treats the entire process with care -- sanitation, accuracy, consistency, quality control -- like it matters. Because it does. You're not getting a random batch that tastes "close enough." You're getting something deliberately produced with real standards behind it. It's also just a great vibe overall. You can feel that the place is rooted in the community. It doesn't feel like an imported concept -- it feels Upstate, in the best way. Honest, hardworking, quality-first. The owner isn't trying to be flashy. He's trying to be excellent. And those are the businesses worth supporting. Bottom line: Upstate Coffee is the kind of place that raises your standards for what coffee can be. It's crafted with precision, roasted locally, made in a legit organic-certified setting, and backed by an owner who clearly has rare integrity and heart. If you live anywhere nearby and you aren't going here yet, you're missing out. And if you're passing through -- put this on your list. Five stars, without hesitation.
