It's exactly what it sounds like, and good at exactly what they claim to be good at. Excellent tasting burgers, perfectly fried home-fries and good beer. There is a pub kind of atmosphere, comfortable seating (tables at just the right height to comfortably rest your elbows on) and a large seating area, so you probably would not have an issue getting a seat. When we walk in, completely empty. Waiter offers to seat us in the only seat in the entire place that has 100% sunlight coverage. Of course I said no. Then, I'm hit with a QR code for the menu. It's not 2020 pandemic time. I'd like a paper menu that's laminated as it should be please. We stumbled across BRGR bar when staying across the street at the Hampton Inn. Great little spot for happy hour and would definitely go back for a meal! Felt a little old and slightly forgotten about a little inside. It was a Sunday afternoon in the summer. The town was bustling but barely anyone was in BRGR and it was 12:30pm (plus it was rainy.) we were seated immediately but as much as the restaurant was pretty vacant we were seated ad an odd table with a piece of the wall obtruding cutting down sitting space at a 4 top table as we were a party of 4. Odd... The waitress was nice. Food came quick. I have the fig burger. It was cooked perfectly and tasted good but what a mess! I know some people may enjoy messy burgers but that's not my style. I definitely recommend Brgr as a casual date spot or a spot to catch the game with friends. The food is good and they do the burgers well. I'm a little bit of a wings snob and for me the "crispy buffalo wings" were not crispy at all. And the sauce wasn't that good. Service was great and friendly. The chicken wings were very large and very fresh. The truffle flavor was actually very strong so I appreciated that. Came here with my fiancé on a beautiful Saturday while out shopping. Haven't been back to Portsmouth in awhile so wanted to check out a new restaurant. We went back and forth on what to eat but both said burgers so found this restaurant, which is short walk from the downtown area. We sat at the bar, which was pretty empty and were immediately welcomed. The bartenders were very friendly and even asked what we had planned for the day! We both had massive burgers. I got the Philly burger with all the fixings and velveta cheese and made it a triple smash for $4 more cause why not. My fiancé had the regular double smash burger and my gosh was it delicious. Tasted like a top notch Big Mac. Both were great but the regular burger took the cake. I also had the crushed Oreo and chocolate milkshake, which was amazing and a great dip for my fries. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the fries were! We also had the onion rings and would definitely get them again. They are the larger thicker kind, which I especially love!! Best burger I have ever eaten in my life, even though it was a fried oyster mushroom burger. This sandwich had fried oyster mushrooms as the burger, homemade mac and cheese, sautéed mushrooms, cheddar and gruyier cheese, fried avocado, on a brioche bun with waffle fries with homemade cheese sauce. This sandwich was so big and messy and sloppy and so delicious. The brioche bun was soft and pillowy and small compared to the sandwich. The avocado was freshly lightly fried. The fried oyster mushrooms were unbelievable. One whole group of the mushrooms were lightly battered and fried together. The mac and cheese sauce was homemade and delicious. It was the same sauce that was on waffle fries. Good service, considering there was one employee for the whole restaurant serving food and bartending. Truffle parmesean fries were also plated beautifully and delicious. The tots were twice fried and so crispy. Was hungry for a burger and this place was super close to my hotel. I saw that they had a 10% discount on Yelp and I figured it was a good choice. I started with a Peanut butter and Chocolate Milkshake and it was thick but good. It did seem kinda fake since it came with no whip cream or texture. Anyways it all went downhill from there. I ordered a custom burger and it took forever to come out. Then I took a bite and realized it was missing half the ingredients I asked for. The bartender offered to have them make it again, but I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for it. Would've been nice if they had comped the shake or gave me a discount to make up for it. Somehow they also managed to not give me any silverware or napkins so I had to wipe my hands on the water glass and then wash them when I got back to my hotel. Not impressed at all.
