When the stylist finally began, her attitude and overall demeanor were noticeably negative, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the stylist started blow-drying my hair without applying a heat protectant. I had to request that it be used, which should be standard practice. Clients should not have to ask for basic hair care measures. I also found the pricing to be excessive for the level of service provided. Certain treatments, such as deep conditioning, are not included in some services and come at an additional cost. During my appointment, the stylist was whispering and gossiping with another stylist, which felt unprofessional. Overall, the salon appears to charge for many add-ons while not delivering a level of service that justifies the cost. Due to the poor customer service and lack of value, I would not recommend this salon.

Then, about 2 and half years ago, a friend gave me Luxe Looks card. While she had never visited the salon personally, she swore that anyone walking out always looked fabulous. She found out about Luxe by accident when she complemented and asked several strangers who their hair stylist was; no surprise they all said Luxe and gave her a business card. After a few weeks of debating with myself, I called and made an appointment and have been coming back every since, and that was more than two years ago. I have never been disappointed with the professionalism, service, experience and ultimate class displayed by all of the employees. My hair is healthier, longer and more vibrant. Yes, you read that correctly--$420 for a blowout of my natural hair--no extensions, no color, and no relaxer. The only thing included was a "Botox" hair conditioning treatment and trim. After pleading with the owner, Carmen she reduced the total owed to $370. I had this same service in 2023 and 2024, respectively at this very salon. The most I paid at this salon in 2023 and 2024 was $250 (still very high, but I paid it). For context, I have 4c hair and I had just taken it out of cornrows and combed it out. Maybe she was frustrated at the effort it took to straighten my hair? I can tell she's not used to dealing with African American hair textures. The majority of the customers had 1a-3c hair. When I asked her about the price increase she first claimed that she was running a "Special" when I came in last. She then blamed the tariffs for causing her prices to go up. I partially blame myself for not inquiring about the price of the service before I was serviced in 2026. I walked-in, got serviced and asked for the price at the end. However, I feel that she took advantage of me not asking the price beforehand and just made up a price at the end. It's not like her prices are listed online or posted on the wall in her salon. I understand that it's normal for businesses to increase their prices, but I couldn't fathom such a drastic increase from $250 to $420 for the exact same service. This is price-gouging at its finest. Further, If you have 4c hair, you need to RUN, not walk away from this salon. They can't handle coarser hair textures. They will yank and pull your hair and then tell you to "relax mami" when the highest temperature is used on the blow dryer to straighten your hair.
