On Jan 21 we received a check for only half of the $1700. He said he had to pay his staff for the time. Excuse me - staff get paid every day whether the Dr. has patients or not. There's not been one time when I felt I did not receive expert, quality care. Whoever is treating me (whether a dental assistant or Dr. Ruff himself) I get an explanation of what is going to be done and then after, a discussion about the results. Despite common delays of payment from insurance companies, their billing statements have been reasonably soon and always accurate. What I do wonder about Yelp is why there are at least eleven postings about quality care that aren't factored into the overall rating.

Hadlock Dental Center rocks!!!!…read more I had a bridge, which was installed by another dentist years ago, come out, and one of the supporting teeth was pretty much crumbled away. Dr. Gile was able to see me very quickly and evaluate the situation. I was scheduled for an extraction a few weeks out, as it was not an urgent issue, and when I went in for the procedure, everything about the visit was friendly, relaxed, and positive. Shoot, it almost felt like fun! The office staff is very competent and gentle. They even called me later that afternoon to let me know I had forgotten my prescription mouth rinse. The assistant who got me set up in the chair and who assisted Dr. Gile was very accommodating. I am recovering from a collision, so I needed a neck pillow, and she offered two different types, making sure I was comfortable. I also asked for shaded glasses, and again, two options were offered. The hygienist who administered the novocaine (or whatever is used these days) was an artist. Top-notch technique! Dr. Gile is very relaxed, jovial, and cheerful (but not over the top). He is also supremely competent. I was expecting a much more difficult procedure, but it was over in no time flat. During the procedure, he even asked if I wanted to know details as he went along, I voted "No thanks", so he just let me know the basics, like when I would feel pressure. He called me in the evening to check on me, and again he was very friendly and upbeat. A previous visit a year or so ago to another dentist in a nearby town had left me very upset, panicked, and confused as to my options and feeling like my concerns were silly and irrelevant. My visit to Hadlock Dental Center was the polar opposite. I recommend them highly!

I went in person to settle the balance, but this type of delayed billing after collecting payment up front feels deceptive. Patients should be made clearly aware when they are paying an estimate versus a final amount. I've canceled all future appointments and will not be returning. Others should be cautious and make sure they fully understand their billing practices before agreeing to treatment.

I was told a couple of times that they don't do that anymore. My blood pressure went through the roof going there because of how painful it is for me, like torture. I was diagnosed as having PTSD because of the issue. They made me leave because of my BP a few times. I still think they're the best, as far as their work goes, they are the only ones I'd trust for the work. I have trust issues from past experiences with other dentists, so I haven't seen a dentist since.

You know, lying there, the techs and docs poking around in your mouth just probing for that little painful jab that indicates some sort of decay. That said, they make it as easy, convenient, and painless (as it can be) for you. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain anymore. The older I get the more I whine about pain. They do you right and keep you from feeling anything (mostly!). Also, a super convenient side note I'd add is they send you e-mails reminding you of your appointment! They even send "invites" that you can put on your calendar on your computer. You don't even have to think about your appointment. They do it all for you.
