The Doctor was patient, gentle, and clearly experienced in working with children who have disabilities. We came in for a tooth extraction, and they gave us options to make sure my daughter was comfortable - either nitrous oxide or general anesthesia. For the first time ever, she cooperated with nitrous oxide. She felt calm and didn't feel any pain during the procedure. We visited again today 9/01 for the same procedure, and once again the doctor and staff were amazing. My daughter stayed calm, trusted them, and everything went smoothly. She even brought a small gift for her doctor to show her appreciation, which says a lot about how safe and comfortable she feels here! After waiting over two months for an appointment, I brought my daughter Ciara to Dr. Rick Nichols Just for Kids Pediatric Dentistry today. This was supposed to be her first visit. This morning, I received a call from their office asking me to complete two new patient forms. I filled both out online immediately. We then headed to the appointment but ran into unexpected stopped traffic. Wanting to be responsible and respectful of their time, I called the office as soon as we got on the freeway to let them know we might be cutting it close. I was told there was a 10-minute grace period. We arrived within that window. Here's where things went sideways: Despite submitting both forms back-to-back, they claimed they only received one. This seemed highly unlikely given how their system is set up. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was met with unnecessary rudeness from the front desk staff (I was given two different names: Melody or Isabel), who told me to "hurry up" and re-do the form or risk losing the appointment. I was already doing everything I could, and yet I was treated like I was the problem. Shortly after, I was told that the dentist had decided he would not see Ciara and that we would need to reschedule. No apology. No ownership. No attempt to accommodate or understand. Just a dismissive brush-off. I had already followed all instructions, provided insurance months ago, confirmed the appointment repeatedly, and communicated in real time when we hit traffic. To be dismissed like this, especially in a pediatric setting, is incredibly disappointing. To Dr. Nichols: If you're unaware of how your staff is treating new patients and families, I hope you'll take this as an opportunity to investigate and address it. Your practice came highly recommended by several people we trust (and you know personally outside your practice), and we were genuinely looking forward to this visit. Sadly, our experience was anything but welcoming or acceptable. And to the staff involved: In a family-focused practice, basic kindness and professionalism should not be optional. I explained that I actually work for that institution, so I know their scheduling policies -- they do NOT see sick patients and require weeks of waiting. Since my son currently has a cold, this means it could take 6-8+ weeks before he can even be scheduled. When I asked what other options we had for a small child with an active infection, I was told I would need to "do my own research." For a young child in pain, I expected more urgency, guidance, and care. I left feeling discouraged and very disappointed. Sadly, I can no longer recommend this office and will be looking for a new dentist.

The kid's are able to choose a video (mostly Disney films) they would like to watch during their visit. In addition to receiving stickers and a dental goody bag at the end of each visit, my boys are able to select a small toy or game from a treasure chest. The staff is friendly, gentle, and genuinely love what they do. Dr. Jenn is highly qualified, professional, and a master at her craft. However, she is not at all clinical. A visit with her is like a visit with a friend. She chats with our whole family, not just mom and dad OR the kids. We've even discussed what books we are currently reading. To be honest, I wish she were a family, not just a pediatric dentist. I've not had as much luck finding a quality DDS for myself. I'm actually a bit jealous of my kids where their dental care is concerned.
