This is an overdue review for an amazing shop in the area. I had come in randomly on my lunch break to see if id be able to get my vehicle smogged since it was due within like 4 days of me stopping in (completely waited last minute - oops). The gentleman I spoke to told me I'd be able to bring it the following day which was such a blessing. When I dropped off my vehicle he told me it'd take maybe an hour or so and they send you a text to track and let you know the status. Even when it was done and you received the text message they also made sure to give you a call to inform you. You can tell these are very honest and reliable mechanics. VERY personable! I called asking to replace a part in my vehicle. I already knew the part number and the cost of the part(confirmed with dealerships)...He said...I would you know, you haven't been here before. I responded, I already had the code tested and would be able to provide the year, make, and model of the car. He then asked...what is your engine? I responded, I didn't know...like most people wouldn't. I did have my VIN number, and he responded....I can't help you if you don't even know your own engine type...it makes a massive difference. I get that...in some degree...but you couldn't ask for other identifiers to assist me. I told him I didn't know and I would call him back and he said...okay, and hung up! Quick, Honest, and Dependable. My family is about to do a cross country move and my wife's car ran into some issues. We took her car to the dealership and they quoted us a ridiculous price for the fix (over $2500). We quickly searched for a local privately owned shop that specializes in the auto repair that we needed. We reached out and spoke to Bubba. An honest man who provided us the best customer service we could have asked for. I felt like I was taking the car to one of my Uncle's to do some work. The shop was able to help us within a one day period, performed a thorough diagnostic, and identified a $20 part that was the problem...not $2500. I took my kids car to 5th Ave Auto for a smog but when they ran the paperwork they notified me that I needed to take the car to a Star Certified Smog Station and I asked them where and they referred me to Brian's on 9th. I arrived and asked if they could do a smog it's a husband and wife running the shop and they are just the nicest people. They had the car smogged within a matter of 15 minutes and while we waited inside I really enjoyed talking to his wife. Buyer Beware the owner Brian is not honest I took my Solara here for the check engine diagnosis for $135, (cash price) he said the ignition wires and spark plugs need to be replaced and then he specifically said the the 5th position spark plug and wiring need replacement. He said that in diagnosing it he took the wiring off and removed a spark plug, then reinstalled them after his diagnosis. So I got my diagnosis and paper receipt, which states him doing the above processes in his diagnosis. I'm on a budget so I couldn't pay him $400 to install $90 worth of parts. Here is the VALUE and REVIEW of BRIANS TIME AND WORK ETHIC. As I started the car I noticed it was running worse than before his diagnosis. Started driving around and let's just I noticed some extremely profound misfires that scared the .... out of me. So I call him on the same day after watching him work and test drive my car, and explaining the process of his diagnosis and reiterating his process on the receipt. *on the phone with him after my misfires* He told me he didn't do anything to the car that could cause those issues. He specifically said he didn't disconnected or reconnect anything. If I would've kept driving my car and if it overheated his liability from his contract frees him of responsibility if the vehicle isn't towed directly to his shop immediately after noticing issues. Which my car was about to do I believe because the coolant was bubbling out of the reservoir. I went and bought the parts installed them myself, to the correct torque spec, and did an oil change with Royal Purple. Have never felt better about myself after coming across someone so deplorable. Bottom line- Don't get your cars issue diagnosed here unless you make him feel confident that whatever the diagnosis is you'll pay him whatever he wants to fix it. He is not trying to help out people on budgets, Even if your paying him $145 for an hours worth of work. He also made me feel like a complete waste of his time.... I hate giving these guys a 2 star, they do good work and could be a good shop. But I've been here twice and both times I needed them to suggest what my trucks need, I'm not a mechanic and I can only explain the problem I was experiencing. I really needed them to jump in and figure it out. Both times the woman at the desk just acted like she expected me to tell her what to do to the truck. And I didn't know, so I gave it my best guess as to what work needed to be done, and that's all they did, nothing more, no inspection and call later to explain what they found and what to do about it. I had to call them to find out if they were done both times, never got a call from them. They don't seem to go the extra mile, I really don't think they did a multi point inspection even though I was told they did, I expected some sort of report, but didn't get one. A week later my truck started to lose power, I took it somewhere else and that shop found the problem right away, a problem I tried to explain to Brian's shop about and they never caught. read more

Escondido's honest mechanic. I had Brian perform some investigation and diagnostic work on an ABS warning light that Escondido Hyundai said they couldn't replicate. Brian pulled all the codes and found several secondary alerts that somehow Escondido Hyundai missed. Brian was going to replace the suspect part, but as it turned out, it fixed itself after wiping the sensor clean. He didn't charge me for this service. As if that wan't enough, Brian's keen eye caught a major issue with my Engine. He spotted an oil leak from my valve cover gasket that was soaking my alternator. It's important to note that the valve cover was "allegedly" fixed by Hyundai of Escondido three weeks prior. Because of Brian's find, I was able to successfully open a workmanship case with Hyundai Motors against Hyundai of Escondido. As a result of their negligence I got several key engine components fixed for free ( almost $3000 worth). Thanks Brian, I would never had known about the issue without your attention to detail. - This place is popular. Make sure you make an appointment. - If you have an emergency, Brian can usually get to it before he closes. - Brian is thorough, even gave me a copy of all my error codes.
