I have held back from leaving a review for many years, but as I continue to work and spend thousands on rectifying the work done, I feel responsible to do this. Eight years after walking into this office, I can look back and be certain that walking in was one if not the worst decision of my life. Teeth are precious and not only tools for chewing--they're part of an interconnected system involving digestion, posture, emotions, energy, and overall vitality. This practice doesn't focus on any of that but surely has a strong focus to sell. I worked with 3 different dentist's here; I was young and said yes to everything: frequent cleanings and all the upsell that comes with that, many fillings, crowns, 3 root canals, and even more! I thought I was being responsible. One of the main things to highlight is, absolutely ALL of the crowns were left with a margin. I learned over the years by asking questions that same day crowns are typically found in chain practices where the doctor is not the one molding and the staff is not always well equipped. This was absolutely true. I can think of a time where I removed the molding for the assistant myself(of course I did it wrong). I visited another dentist during that time who did a 3D scan. That doctor warned me of the margin on a particular tooth. I went back to this practice and Dr. Lising minded. She insisted that the crown was fine. That was on a root canal so I didn't feel discomfort, yet the crown fell off on a random day. Sadly it was too late-there was significant decay underneath and the tooth had to be shaved down significantly. Dr. Lising was not pleasant to work with during this time. As I read on many other recent reviews, I also experienced the arrogance. She laughed at my hesitation to "fix" the issue. I agreed to placing a dental post to then place a new crown. Sadly, the post caused the tooth to break and led to an infection that showed while pregnant. I had to have an extraction while pregnant and an implant months later. This costed me several thousands. On a different occasion, I complained of sensitivity on a particular tooth and was told that I needed a root canal. With what I know now, I can say that it was called too early. All I did was say that it was sensitive, that's it. Root canals are bad news and I just extracted a second one. The recovery was brutal. I have one to more to go. Another experience was an onlay that fell off 4 times before it never moved again- I don't know how that was accomplished. If I could go back, I would want my young self to read this review and be intrigued to read on functional/biological dentistry. You will find a doctor who will cost you a bit more per visit but a whole lot less over time, a Dr. that will care to save your teeth. I do not have any pleasure in leaving this review, in fact it is hard but I feel a strong need to. I have spent thousands of dollars over the last 4 years to redo all the work that I have paid for in the past! It is painful in every way and I don't wish it on anyone. If you are looking for a dentist, please be kind to yourself and look for a Dr that will care for you from a functional perspective and educate you while saving your teeth. read more

While Dr. Pierce and the technicians (especially Robbie) have been very kind and my basic cleanings have been as pleasant as possible, the experiences I have had with more involved procedures have been so disappointing and frustrating that I will no longer be a patient there and am revising my review. First off--the "visiting" surgeon who does root canals is terrible. When I came for my appointment, the surgeon was late. He and the technician that worked with him had never actually been to that office before (they told me so several times during my appointment). It was obvious in the way they worked, which was frantic and haphazard. The obviously had not oriented themselves to the office BEFORE they started working on me. The technician was constantly rushing off to find some tool or item they forgot to find or prepare, and the surgeon was working so quickly that he at one point dropped something down the back of my mouth that could have made me choke. It was just such an anxiety-inducing experience that, as someone who already has high anxiety with dental procedures, I was about to have a panic attack. When I came back to get the crown, my blood pressure was deemed too high to do the procedure. I didn't understand why that mattered considering they had not taken my blood pressure when I got the root canal, which was far more involved procedure than just getting a crown. I literally had a panic attack in my car afterward and was frustrated I had to reschedule and come in a week later. Later that year, I was told by Dr. Pierce that another tooth either needed an inlay or a root canal and, per her words, while she was leaning toward a root canal, she decided to do an inlay. Because of pain and sensitivity I was having after (that was actually worse than before I got the inlay), it was obvious it did not fix the problem. Sure enough when I returned this month for another inlay, she told me the first one didn't take and I needed a root canal. To have spent $600 on an inlay, and then being told I would need a $1200 root canal (after I had already gotten another last year) when she should have just said I needed a root canal in the first place is infuriating. My most recent experience of having to be numbed 4-5 times for an inlay over the course of an hour only to be told the procedure couldn't be done because I wasn't numb enough was the last straw. This dentist office is too expensive for me to continually come in for procedures that are terribly done or don't happen, and are entirely too expensive. read more

My experience on Monday, October 20, 2025....Have you ever been shocked about something that has happened to you and after realizing it actually did and take time to process you are compelled to share your story. Here it is, after patronizing Briargrove Smiles Dentistry for several years, I will be ending my relationship. My decision was based on the horrendous visit I had with Dr. Lising on Monday, October 20. My appointment consisted of her spending time with me for less than 5 minutes, and during that short period of time she was rude, abrupt, and conveyed her diagnosis harshly about my gums and reprimanded me for the problems with my gums and how in her perception I was neglecting the care of my mouth. She did not even take the time to acknowledge any good point of my teeth care. In addition, to her disrespectful disposition, I observed how she was quite eager to hurry up and leave and shuffle me off to my next step the deep cleaning process. Unfortunately, due to the absence of one of their hygienists they were unable to do my cleaning and asked me to schedule a time to come back. I just would like to point out during my history with this Dentistry, which started with my original Dentist Dr. Pierce, I can't recall a time I have ever been treated in such an awful manner. I hope this review will help rectify Dr. Lising's bedside manner and this complaint review will be a onetime occurrence, and this will not happen to another patient. read more

Waited over two hours to have X-rays and a teeth cleaning. I don't have any cavities or any gum diseases or issues. Usually I'm in and out of the dentist in 40 minutes. I've missed three hours of work - and they still haven't cleaned my teeth. Someone came in and said they were going to polish my teeth before - removing the tartar. Truly contradictory. But they were quick to have me sign my Insurance information for billing and we're on three hours and no one has cleaned my teeth. read more

This is such a wonderful practice! Dr. Jeanna Tran really takes time to make her patients feel seen, comfortable, and discuss the best plan of care for your oral health. She is extremely witty and doesn't mind doing the cleaning herself if her assistants are busy with other patients. She has made me look forward to my appointments at Briargrove. I love that Briargrove has oral surgeons who come into the practice for a few days of the month so you can easily schedule surgeries at the drop of a hat without have to be referred, consulted with, then finally scheduling an appointment. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Wansheng Zhu and was able to get in the same week as my cleaning. Dr. Zhu and his assistants made me laugh so hard and were all so personable. I tend to get extremely anxious and I really felt like I was at peace before going under anesthesia. Dr. Zhu took time to answer any questions and explain everything great detail, as well as providing ample paperwork to take home in case I forgot any instructions. All in all 12/10 for every experience I have had here over the last couple of years! I was a patient of Dr. Janice Lising for approximately 6 years. In that time she replaced at least four caps. When I went for my 6 month cleaning in September, she informed me that two of my caps needed to be replaced. She said my teeth had a rare condition called internal resorption. I went to another doctor for a second opinion and was told that it was not internal resorption but in fact, decay likely caused by ill fitting caps. This new dentist replaced my two caps last week. I asked him to review all my latest x-rays done by Dr. Lising and check my other teeth. He found a third cap is suffering the same fate and has to be replaced. I fear Dr. Lising is incapable of putting on a cap properly and is causing damage to many more teeth. This, on top of the fact that she constantly tries to upsell fancy cleanings makes her a dentist that is untrustworthy. I would strongly advise anyone seeking a dentist to avoid her practice. read more

They are taking a lot of safety precautions, including a questionnaire screen before you arrive, another attestation when you arrive, temperature checks, and masks at all times when you are not actively having your teeth worked on. Just had the worst cleaning ever at Briargrove. They messed up our appointment and then tried to squeeze us. They charged for extra for a periodontal maintenance but I was left waiting more than 1 hour (appointment was at 8:30 am), cleaning started at 9:40 am and was done in less than 15 minutes. In between the doctor was going in and out to get assistance to help with the suction. On top of that, they scratched my gum during the X-ray and the assistance splatter the fluoride all over my mouth, gum and lips. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I have gone to this dental clinic for almost 10 years. We will never go back! read more

I am super picky with my dentists especially since many dentists have tried to get me to do unnecessary work like using all my insurance benefits just to fix the cosmetic look of my molars (hello, no one sees them). I'm thankful for finding Dr. Lising because she will tell it like it is and is open and honest. She is the only dentist that has helped me fixed my TMJ issue - all the others just keep trying to fix my bite and making it worse every time. So we already know I don't like the dentist. But yellow teeth are worse! I recently went to Dr Lising's office for a cleaning and to try their new ZOOM whitening. This was legit! See pic. I think I went 3 shades. Ya it's uncomfortable for a bit BUT the technician, dental angel, aka Brenda was GREAT! So careful and explained every step of the process. Deserves zero stars but Yelp will not let me put zero stars. This is more like a sales enterprise than a dentist. My wife went there with a simple chipped tooth with zero pain and returned with excruciating pain and the salesman posing as a dentist had sold her an overpriced crown. And now she needs root canal treatment that they do not provide and wants her to come back to put on the overpriced crown. Another dentist's opinion is that they exposed nerve endings which weren't previously exposed. Guess what the bill was mistreatment? $500!!! Beautiful office! I had a great experience here although I'm always terrified of dental work. Dr. Lising was very knowledgeable and accommodating; she presented me with my treatment plan and addressed all my concerns. I was able to complete part of my treatments same day, and will be back to complete the rest. Chasity (Office Manager) was extremely helpful! She explained my insurance benefits and assisted me in maximizing my insurance towards my scheduled treatments before end of the year. I had an appointment scheduled via phone and on the MyChart account as well. However when I got there, the lady at the front desk, Vickie, said my appointment was canceled because I had not checked in nor answered their call the day before. I checked my phone and MyChart account to see if I missed anything because I set up my phone to go straight to voicemail if received calls from unsaved numbers. There was no missed calls nor voicemails from the day before nor any notification on MyChart. Vickie then told me that someone from their office had tried to contact me twice but failed and it was too late for me to check in now so the messages on MyChart must have disappeared. I was so lost since there was no proof from my end stating that contacts had been made. I showed Vickie the "'missed calls" and voicemails list on my phone, she just had a glance and told me to reschedule a different day. It was my first visit there and I heard so many good reviews for this place yet they didn't even try to help me figure out what happened. I was so upset since I live like 40 minutes away and had to take a day off from work to come that day because they only open on the weekdays. read more

I went here for a cracked tooth and scheduled to have a very expensive ($700) extraction but before my appointment came I all of a sudden started having SEVERE pain on Sunday, I called in first thing the morning on Monday, Jan 23rd...I was told that they would have the dentist contact me and they marked it as urgent..well as I sit here writing this on Feb 3rd, the dentist still has not called...they charge out the rear and clearly don't care about their patients!! When I realized that late afternoon of Jan 23rd and me being in severe pain, I decided to call my previous dentist (who is a lot father away) and they had me in by Wednesday and got the tooth extracted for a whopping $120. After our traumatizing experience at a different dentist my husband felt immediately at ease walking thru this dental office's door. They are the best dentist office we have been to yet! To have my husband excited and happy about going to the dentist after his entire life hating the dentist says a lot about this business. Their bedside manner is great. The rooms are private. They let us stay with each other in the exam room if we want to be together. The waiting room is private, comfortable, has plenty to read, tv to watch, water cooler, and a game section for the kids. Beware, beware, beware, beware, beware......... Still having nightmares about this dental Office. If I could give this dentistry a zero, I would. Stay away from this place, they will price you out of house and home with expensive treatment recommendations that you probably don't need. As for me, I have an excellent background with getting checkups every six months and taking care of my dential hygiene. As a new patient, they didn't know this so I was told "your teeth are in horrible condition, you need lots of deep cleaning, root canals, and other expensive dental treatments." Poor Communication, Inflated Pricing, Unprofessionalism, Inconsistent I never thought I'd be writing a negative review about this Practice. I've been a patient here for approximately 3 year. I didn't start seeing Red Flags until Jan 2020 when I referred a friend who was over charged for a loose Cap and Crown. (I haven't referred anyone since). Since 2020, my routine visits have not been with my doctor even though I've requested them to be. The staff changes often, and there seems to be some type of a up-charge with every visit, ex...PPE(2020) or discussions regarding cosmetic work that I hadn't inquired about. I guess I'm not making the practice enough money, so I cannot see Dr. lising and my visits aren't as important as the patients who are paying inflated prices for subpar dental work. They have definitely changed within the past 3 years and today pushed me to the point of no return...literally. I'm an advocate for Growing Practices but you can't lose sight of your integrity and regard for your patients because you are expanding. read more

They fit me into their schedule and I immediately felt comfortable, loved the vibe and kindness - this is important to me. She diagnosed a long running issue that was treated by the awesome Dr. Scott who is the team's Endodontist. He handled my difficult root canal case expertly and Dr. Lising handled the crowns using 2D and 3D technology to make them on the spot and they are beautiful. I also really appreciate going to one office for both treatments. The staff is top notch - they are so welcoming and experts at their jobs. DO NOT go here unless you're rich and don't mind wasting hours at this place. I go to the dentist every year and have only had 1 cavity my entire life. I go to this place and suddenly have 3 cavities that I needed to get fillings for. That's not even what upset me. APPARENTLY my cavities were so bad that I had to get a premium type of filling that cost $300 a tooth. They were confusing me on if I actually needed that or not but said if I didn't do it, bad things would happen...... Naturally I did it but even during the fillings, Dr. Pierce was cold and clearly doesn't care about customer service. I ended up having to go back 2 days later because I was still in pain and couldn't chew and she had to fix it. They said I'd be there for 20 min. - I was there for almost 2 hrs. I explained my concerns about overpaying when I went back (because I talked to a friend that is a dentist and he thought they just scammed me) and Dr. Pierce listened atleast but didn't have much to say back except that I needed it. I don't mind the expensive cost if it was explained properly to me in the beginning but not to explain to the patient what they need is extremely bad service. I also work in healthcare and know how insurance works and they're probably telling everyone that they need these premium fillings so they can get more reimbursement from insurance on it. Dr. Pierce also said that their office manager would follow up with me because I was not happy........never got a call.......surprise surprise. FINALLY 3 months later, I'm chewing and what happens? My filling comes out. After ALL that, it comes out. Unbelievable. I'm not going there to get it fixed, even though they can do it for free. The only good thing about the place is the guy that worked there and took my x-rays. He was very nice and helpful. ****Bad customer service. Bad way of running their business. Focus more on the patient and their experience. Take the time to explain costs, especially knowing that it's expensive. Also, stop telling everyone that they have gingivitis (happened to my friend that went there too) and need to pay more money to get deep cleanings and all these other things that I've never heard of. read more

We had a WOW experience today at the dentist! My 22 year old daughter had to get her 4 wisdom teeth pulled today and she is very EXTRA! The entire staff went above and beyond the call of duty to deal with her anxiety attack during her surgery. Dr Ali was so nice and caring, he made the experience great.
