Updating my review to make this 5 stars. Brick n Brew has moved to the old Oakmont Pub location on the corner of Darby and Eagle. They did a great job with the renovations. Really cool interior and I hear they are adding rooftop seating. How awesome is that? Lots of room in the new location for many diners. My daughter and son in law treated us to lunch today. I got the mussels. They were sooo good. The sauce they were in was fabulous. There were lots of mussels and they also put onions and peppers in there. I loved having those with the mussels. I would definitely order that again. Hubby got the cheese steak which is more like a gourmet cheese steak. It was big. He only ate half. I had a bite. It was good. My daughter got the buffalo Mac and cheese. I tried a bite of that too. I'm not a fan of Mac and cheese but I thought it was really good. Nice and cheesy. I look forward to our next visit! read more

After doing Town Tap last week in Havertown, this week it was Brick and Brew. Called in a reservation yesterday. When we got there we were seated right away. Since both the wife and I are bariatric patients we've learned to order several apps and split them. Tonight it was roasted Brussels sprouts, house dry rub wings, deviled eggs, and the soft pretzels. The boy went with his completely surprising and unexpected order of chicken fingers and fries. The star for me were the deviled eggs. They're topped with perfectly grilled shrimp and the perfect protein bomb. The wings were big and crispy but didn't have as much flavor as I had hoped. We both loved the Brussels sprouts. They might have been her favorite. Even the boy remarked that they were the best vegetables he had ever eaten. The boy wasn't a fan of the pretzels which surprised us because we were. But he knocked back his chicken fingers like we hadn't fed him for 7 days. He eats more than we do now at 7 years old. Overall very good. Not as spectacular as I might have hoped all around. Brick & Brew got a serious facelift from the previous locations! I was honestly blown away. Not only has its new home doubled in size, but the vibe has gone from small, local vibes to beautiful and enchanted! The inside is just stunning. From the foliage, to the ceilings and chandeliers, and even the velvet seating and new dinnerware. STUNNING! The menu still has all the classics, though there are many things I've never tried and was happy to bring my boyfriend along for his first experience. We both started out with some cocktails. He got a vodka tonic, while I tried one of the signatures: The Capone. Oh my goodness, so delicious! I don't typically go for hard liquor but the spicy flavors in this drink really stood out to me and they were as good as I hoped. Food wise, we got the confeit wings which were amazing! I also got the brisket sandwich while my boyfriend got the short rib grilled cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed both. Though, we were both full as can be, we couldn't pass up the bourbon caramel beignets. I dined at B&B last night with 3 other people. The cocktails are always great, but the food has been disappointing over the last 2 years or so. Specifically, the mahi lettuce wraps used to be my go-to choice for an app. Last night, they arrived on inedible wilted lettuce and were way too messy to wrap. The upside down pizza was just ok. The queso dip came with a very small bowl of chips. It was refilled at our request and we were surprised when we were charged extra for them. For the cost of the meal, I expect better food and presentation. And I miss those crispy fries of yore that have been replaced with standard soggy "house cut" fries. I think I'll stick with the simple pizzas in the future. read more

Myself and two of my girlfriends got together in a Tuesday evening for dinner. I selected a restaurant we had never been to that had an interesting twist in food. I called an made reservations for outdoor seating since the weather was nice. My ladies arrived before I did so they were already seated when I walked up. Our server (I'm sorry I forgot her name) was so very nice and pleasant. I ordered the swordfish tacos (it was Taco Tuesday so I thought it only right that I had tacos ). The tacos were delicious. The tacos had thinly sliced cabbage and this awesome sauce. One of the ladies also ordered the tacos and while the other ordered a burger with a side salad and blue cheese dressing. She loved her burger and the blue cheese dressing. The dressing had a sweetness to it that made it very yummy. Since we were still enjoying our conversation, we ordered more food. I ordered the Caramel Beignets that were served with warm whiskey caramel sauce, Oreo cookie crumbs, and powdered sugar (very good). One of the other ladies ordered mussels and the last one ordered the Maple Bourbon Sriracha wings. I tried their food and was not disappointed. read more

Excellent lunch on a beautiful day with friendly, efficient and knowledgeable server. What more can you ask for? First I want to give a shout-out to our server Caitlin M. She was training her twin sister Rory. You can not find two more personable and friendly servers anywhere. They made a delicious meal even better. Our appetizer was Prosciutto Fries. The crisp potatoes were covered in a white cheese sauce and were topped with onions and scallions and crisp chopped Prosciutto. I washed them down with an iced cold Lavante Escalante. Speaking about the bar they have a outstanding selection of top shelf bourbons including a full flight of Pappy. I was told a one oz pour of the 23 year old was $196. Maybe next time. My Ramen Bowl was full of tasty pork tenderloin grilled corn kernels, bamboo shoots, and shiitake mushrooms along with a good amount of ramen noodles. The broth was spicy but not overly so. A perfectly cooked egg topped it off. My wife enjoyed the Fattoush Salad with was full of fresh crisp vegetables and chunks of toasted pita. My husband, mom and myself went for an early dinner. We decided to order a pizza. We thought how could we go wrong with pizza?? Boy, were we surprised that a place called Brick and Brew doesn't make a good pizza. It was small, had thick slices of non melted mozzarella and the sauce was very one dimensional. We also ordered the cauliflower bites which were good but lacked sauce. The spinach and artichoke dip was decent. This is not a place we will be frequenting or actually going to again. We had friends come from California and needed to grab a quick bite with all of our kids. It is mid week we didn't think it would be crowded but it was we waited 30 minutes as told and texted. We saw the vestibule was pretty empty it was nearly 730 and then they told me that people were not getting up as they were playing quizzo so there was no longer a table and it would be at least an hour. Meanwhile they came out and asked if we needed a high chair I assumed it meant the table was getting prepped for us. There were many tables open including and a large bench seat in the back but she said nope sorry. It was very embarrassing in front of our friends and the kids were starving at this point. I totally understand why this is a "local" favorite. All of the food we ordered was super tasty and mostly from the specials menu on a late August Friday night. My smoked mushroom Stromboli was literally all of my favorite things (cheese, more cheese, and mushrooms wrapped in carbs). Friends enjoyed the grilled octopus salad and special wings. But my favorite by far was the pork belly burnt ends and grits. After living in the south for 15 years, I miss grits and these absolutely hit the spot. I really dig the architecture and interior design- it looks like they modernized and upgraded an old building without making it too fussy or sparse. No 5 star rating due to the (1) lack of parking, which I think is something that has to be considered in a suburban neighborhood without public transport and (2) surprisingly small beer selection that was light on local brews. read more

Me and my family just had a lovely experience at this restaurant. Me and my husband both got tacos, pork and mahi, they were phenomenal. We sat on the roof which was lovely, and they had nice umbrellas for cover. Our server, a handsome blonde devil, was not only attentive but hilarious as well. When it was in the smaller spot on Darby in Havertown, it was great. Since the move to the larger spot, the food and drinks have gone down in quality. My go to before was the octopus salad and duck confit sliders. The sliders are not on the menu anymore which is fine. But the octopus salad is not at all what it used to be. I think they grew out of there niche and the quality suffered. Add the high prices to it and it's no longer a place I can recommend. read more

I will stop in there a couple times a week after I was finished swimming at the Y I didn't even realize there was a happy hour. The draft selection was pretty nice and mostly everything I had was above the average food. ribs were a little weak. I've been in the hospitality business, my whole life I'm started out as a short order cook then to bartender to bar manager then to the banquet captain at the Bellevue When they did high end affairs before they farmed it out to a cookie cutter There were two young women bartender there. I've seen better personalities on Formica tables. If I had a guy that came in, tried to chitchat and an over tipped I think I'd be pretty nice to him and not act like every time he walked in. It was the first time I ever saw .Him Not sure if they thought I was gonna try to hit on them, but I am old enough to be their grandfather on the other hand the male bartender I believe his name was Maui because he actually knew how to introduce himself and acknowledged my existence every time I walked in the bar I actually haven't been there in a while fortunately, the last time I went in, he was behind the bar. I don't think I'll ever patronize the bar if they are behind the stick . I just walk down the street to the cross bar or whatever it's called. read more

There were people waiting for inside, and only one couple eating outdoors , so we asked the maskless hostesses to be seated outside. A few mins later the server told us we'd have to order our drinks inside at the crowded bar (heard of covid anyone?) and that we'd need to seat ourselves (alone) in the totally empty "garden" around the corner. WHAT? We couldn't stay at the plain black metal table and metal chairs we were already seated at, but needed to serve ourselves and move as well. We gave our menus back and left. We just left, and I practically had to beg for water. There are no kid-friendly cups--my 4-year-old and 2-year-old were given glass cups with no lids, which was the only option. Holy spice. Like it made my stomach churn. But I'm not a quitter, I kept at it. So while at the pool I checked out what was nearby on Yelp and luckily found Brick & Brew. We are very happy we stopped at Brick & Brew. We started off with an order of Hot and Garlic wings and followed it up with the Red Red Vine pizza. Both were good with the pizza being great. Can't compare it to a traditional cheesesteak with the Tomato Jam but I added it to my list of noteworthy specialty cheesesteaks. The Tomato Jam added a little sweetness but the meat was a little too thin, which can be easily overcooked. Give it a try though. I was excited to go here, however, the food was a disappointmen. I can't eat industrial seed oils, like cannola ( made up word, its rapeseed, cottonseed oil or soy they have NO olive oil in the kitchen! Really? THAT is because everything you are eating is NOT homemade, highly processed foods from boxes, pre-frozen, and it tastes that way. AND you are paying top dollar. Came about 6pm and it was pretty busy. Had to wait roughly 15 minutes for a table, which led me to do something I don't too often. Order a drink... Great whiskey concoction. Wanted another, but the kid isn't getting any younger and has to be to work in Delaware at 7am. We went with 5 appetizers. The Brussel sprouts were melt in your mouth good. A little blackened, tender, and seasoned well. Served in a cast iron skillet. The flatbread was covered in Gorgonzola cheese and butter nut squash. The crab dib, served with pita tips, was smooth, creamy, and full of crab meat The wings weren't necessarily anything special, but they were well prepared, and very large and meaty. The star of the table, though, were the fried pickles. Never had them prepared quite like that. They were sliced thin and deep fried in a light tempura batter. The dipping sauce was so good it would go with anything. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other things on the menu. read more

The prosciutto fries- can't stop thinking about the cheesy goodness! The wings are so delicious, fall off the bone. Drinks also delicious. The Capone and Marilyn Monroe are so good! Our server was super nice and the manager is also very friendly and nice!
