Went last night with my husband and it was the best pizza spot we have been too. The vibes inside and music were amazing not too noisy and not too quiet. Our server was nice alongside the hostess. The pizza is amazing perfect and we also got the bread and butter we added a side of ricotta with honey and it was to die for. Went to Brick + Dough for lunch. Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the special focaccia followed by the crispy brussel sprouts. We also ordered the Foraged Feast 2.0 and Fig & Goat Pizza. Needless to say it was a lot of food for three people, but I wouldn't have eliminated anything. (Definitely worth the calories!!!) Wow, you don't have to go to NYC or Italy for great pizza. It's readily available in Montclair. Brick + Dough is crushing the pizza game. Not to sound bougie but my fiancé and I were in Rome this past Fall and Brick + Dough was as good or better then some of the best Roman spots. The space is large and fun. The service was friendly and efficient. And Josh who was working the door that night was super cool and friendly. We had the classic Margherita and the Foraged Fest. The dough and crust was so light and billowy. I could eat that but itself. The Margherita had the right amount of sauce and some excellent cheese. The Foraged Fest was an Umami bomb. Tried out this place for the pizzas. Where we sat was in a weird spot close to the door, so that took away from the experience. Ordered some focaccia bread to start and some of it was mushy from the sauce sitting too long. We ordered margarita and vodka pies. The margarita was pretty good. We didn't care for the vodka pie, just didn't taste much at first so we got extra sauce. Again, wasn't as thrilled as I'd hoped to be with the extra sauce. read more

This place appears to have undergone some changes between the first and subsequent visit. I recall it being more casual (different entry too?) and it was handy for grabbing a pizza and heading across the street to the brewery. The dining-in restaurant is stylish if a little sterile, and the menu is limited compared to Arturo's in Maplewood, and for that I would give it 4 stars. BUT the sesame and stracciatella cheese pizza is so utterly amazing (and inspired) that I have no issue giving this place 5 stars for that alone. read more

Not your typical Neapolitan pizza joint but possibly my favorite pizza in town. I've tried a bunch of their pies and none of them disappoint, though personally I'd recommend their less traditional ones. I'm a sucker for Buffalo chicken pizza and they knock it out if the park. I've also tried their gluten free detroit style and it's shockingly good. The prices are a little on the higher side but nothing abnormal or unfair for the location or the cuisine, and I always go home with a couple slices leftover (your mileage may vary - I personally have to fight myself to not just crush the pie). read more

Was here with a nice group, we only had a 2 meatballs, two salads and three pizzas and the bill was $150!!! Just be prepared very very overpriced pizza I thought it was OK nothing over the top. I don't think I would be back to be honest with you. I didn't like how cold it is inside. Also, it feels like you're eating in a cafeteria it's also very loud be prepared to scream to talk if it's crowded. The saving grace was the server. We love Brick + Dough. The meatballs and knots are always spot on and the pizza choices are fun. It is definitely and indulgent night but last night was a miss. We have only ever sat outside and usually bring a few drinks and a Pellegrino water. Last night we sat inside and the waiter came up to our table and very brusquely said " We have sparkling water here. You don't need that". We apologized and told him we always bring one and were never told but from now on we understand. Not really an issue. The waiter just seemed put off and was really grumpy with us all night. We never got his name. He never asked how were were. Never got any extra napkins. He forgot the garlic knots which is understandable on a busy night but he overcharged us after we only ordered a few, we paid for double we ordered. Stop reading this review and get yourself to Brick + Dough! As a gluten-free vegetarian, I'm always on the lookout for different pizza places. Brick + Dough came up as an option for gluten-free pizza and I couldn't believe it when I saw they offer gf pizza by the slice. I couldn't even tell you if I've ever been anywhere where I wasn't forced to get a pie because they didn't offer gf slices. The shop is currently offering outdoor seating, which was nicely set up on the sidewalk. Upon entering, everything appeared extremely organized and clean. They have a large display case with a top shelf featuring gluten-free items like thick Sicilian-style pizza slices and garlic knots, while the shelf below contains regular slices. I was in total disbelief that I could order a garlic knot, which was heated up for me. I quickly devoured the seasoned, buttery, chewy goodness of that garlic knot. I opted for a tomato pesto slice and found it to be just slightly bland, but the crust was absolutely incredible. Airy, thick, and with the perfect amount of crunch, I couldn't believe it was gluten-free. My partner's regular buffalo slice was reportedly delicious, as it quickly disappeared. We also tried their gluten-free brownie bites and my partner described it as, "A chocolate cotton ball." This was meant in a positive way since the bites were so airy and light,-- the bites didn't stand a chance against us. Very fresh food, whether it's their signature pizzas or sides. Their dough is the best! I will say that sometimes, their pizzas are skimpy. Finally an amazing brick oven pizza place. I debated on keeping this place a secret because I love it so much but it would do a disservice to how good this place is. Food is amazing, great quality and fresh. The service and ambiance are also great and it's a fun place to hang out and have a drink. Pies are Neapolitan-style, so don't expect them to be large (no Neapolitan pizza is). If you want a "bigger" pizza, order the NY style. This is a great little spot for a quick date night or a dinner our with friends. My absolute favorite were the Rodolfo's Knots and cheesy bread sticks. The portion sizes are huge and i could have easily made this my dinner. The crispy brussels sprouts are absolutely delicious!! The miso aioli is just perfect. Came here with a group and we tried a number of different things. All of the pizzas we had were excellent and the ingredients were high quality. You can tell they put a lot of thought into their menu and how the construct the pizzas. The ny style pie was incredible, actually among my favorite pizzas I've had anywhere. We also tried a number of their non pizza options. Again just like the pizza everything was very delicious and high quality. The lamb tacos were incredible. Service was excellent! Our server was there when we needed, knew the menu and provided good advice, and had a nice attitude. The space is kind of bland and had a weird vibe like it's temporary. And the music is ridiculously loud. Our Ceasar salad was almost 50/50 lettuce/croutons (really) and had a really bland dressing. Pizzas looked perfect, spotted with lovely black spots, but were strangely raw in the middle and too wet and chewy inside. Toppings were tasty - but there was clearly a problem with the dough or oven or cook. Not one thing I have ever experienced from here has not blown me away. The pizza to start is outstanding but the sleeper is the gluten free pizza. They also have an awesome burger that's just so simple and delicious. Great experience. Ordered 3 pies: forager feast and the spinach pizza. The dough is actually the best I've ever had in my life. Sesame is a little heavy due to the cheese used, but if you stop when your body tells you to (I didn't) you will enjoy. Great staff that checks in regularly. I do wish the space was smaller or more furnished, but that won't stop me from coming here every time I'm in Montclair.
