y husband and I have been loyal fans of Bivio since the original location in Little Falls, when Tomaso and Jackie owned it. They were wonderful, and we were truly heartbroken when they closed their doors for several years. When we heard Bivio would reopen in Montclair, we were thrilled -- we couldn't wait to enjoy that authentic, unforgettable pizza again. Just as we became regulars at the Montclair location, Tomaso announced his retirement, and once again, we were devastated. We never thought we'd taste anything that came close to his masterpiece, though we continued to support the new owner, especially knowing they were still using Tomaso's secret -- "the baby." We started out visiting only occasionally, but after last night's meal, all I can say is this: the pizza is exceptional. Truly the best I've ever had -- including in Italy. The new owner has absolutely mastered this craft. Bivio remains in incredible hands.

This was our first time at the new Bivio. Well we always loved the original and our expectations were optimistic. We couldn't have been happier when everything was amazing here at I'll call it Bivio 2.0. We sat at the counter and had a great experience. The staff was attentive and friendly and all the food was awesome. The pizza was better than before. We shall return again and again

The staff is so amazing! Our wait was very long despite the reservation, but the service and food more than made up for it. we enjoyed our BYOWine with roasted artichoke hearts and the mushroom pizza, in an intimate, cozy space amenable to people-watching and admiring the oven.

Food is amazing. They have the best Bianca pizza I've ever had. It's topped with some olive oil and see salt and it makes it chef's kiss. Everything is clearly fresh. One complaint I do have is the service is very slow, but they do only have one server. I do continue to comeback. Wish they were open for lunch.

This is a very successful reboot of Bivio, and new owner Davide is to be applauded. The pizza was as good as ever (Tomasso shared "il bambino," I guess!), and the counter seating is a wonderful addition. We really enjoyed, and will return. BYO -- decent wineglasses. PS--There's a culatello appetizer on the menu. That should be reason enough for you to try it.

Finally! My husband and I have been wanting to try Bivios since we moved to Montclair a few years ago. I'm so glad we finally were able to eat here and it definitely exceeded expectations. The restaurant itself is super cozy and intimate. Service was perfect. We tried the Bianca and Margherita pizzas. Hands down the best Neapolitan style pizza ever. I've never had pizza that litterally melted in your mouth as you eat. We will definitely be back for more!

I've been eyeing this place for a while in my quest to find good pizza in North Jersey and finally got the opportunity to go. Napoletano pizza is a little different from traditional NY style pizza but still quite good. Bivio is a cute BYOB place with a few tables and a pizza bar top which is also quite comfortable to dine and get a front row view of all the magic taking place with the dough. The special of the day was a pizza with anchovies which wasn't my speed but they have an assortment of white and red sauce pizzas on the regular menu. I tried the simple margherita for my first time but can't wait to go back and try a few others. However, the culatello e parmigiano with truffle honey antipasto and melon and burrata w/culatello salad were sublime. This place appears to be a local favorite so don't forget to make a reservation. This one is a keeper and worth the trip.

Went back recently and had a great dinner. I still feel like the limited menu is a drag. But what they do they really well.

Guy seemed overwhelmed and reluctantly took my order. I showed up 30 min later and no one had any record of my order. I recognized the guy's voice and told him he took my order. He was pissed and got into a shouting match with me with 3 other customers around. He eventually apologized and offered a free side of meatballs and spaghetti (don't order that btw, super underwhelming). 2nd time: Wife placed an order for a pie with half pepperoni on their website. Came back with the order and the pie had full toppings. Small nit but annoying. 3rd time: I called at 6pm on a Thursday. No one picked up. Opted to place order on their website and got the same item as last time. Showed up at and the same miserable guy asked for my name and order... and then said he didn't have any order. I told him I placed an order on the website... and he said "You should have called." with an awful (only a mother can love) grin. I showed him my email confirming 6:20pm pickup time and he said he had no order... before pulling a pie with my name on it. I asked if it had half pepperoni and it didn't. Full toppings AGAIN. Clearly, their website is not equipped to actually take half toppings orders. Pizza is OK but not worth the headache or poor service here.

We spotted Blue Steel which had good, modern curb appeal to our hungry tummies. It looks like downtown Bloomfield is having a moment with some new condos and nicer restaurants coming in. Thanks, gentrification!? Inside has a clubby, bar vibe and we were seated at a hightop near the bar. I love a good wedge salad. I prefer the classic but I appreciate BSP's variation that has tomato, cucumbers, crispy frizzled onions, feta cheese, homemade ranch dressing, and everything sprinkle seasoning. It was generously sized and refreshing. And there's nothing but good things to say about the Detroit-style ezzo pepperoni pie, except that i wish I had a bigger stomach to eat MORE. After the salad (shared), I was only able to manage one slice, but it was a happy slice. My first time trying Detroit-style and it didn't disappoint. PS: There's a tiny, very lumpy and bumpy parking lot in the back that is very tricky to maneuver back out of. If it hadn't been for an Uber driver who got briefly trapped back in there with me, I might still be there today

There is no…read moreshortage of pizza, as they have anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 pizza restaurants using their family recipe to make some of the best pizzas in America. As the third-largest producer of tomatoes in the entire country, this key pizza-making ingredient not only sets New Jersey's classic 'tomato pies' apart from any ordinary pizza. This 10,000-square-foot, two-story establishment with a neon-lit sign on Glenwood Ave in Bloomfield asks, "Just another pizzeria?" They also house a 20-seat speakeasy that's open Thursday through Saturday called the Rab.bit Hole that can be found upstairs behind a hidden entrance. Opened in 2020, Blue Steel Pizza Company is the answer and should become obvious after looking at the menu. A reservation was easily made via Resy. My partner and I were greeted at the host station and got a regular table in the 1st-floor dining room by the pizza oven in the middle. The vibe was modern and industrial. Patrons had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu as the lighting was pretty dim. They are known for their Detroit-style pizza--a pie baked in a rectangular, traditionally blue-steel pan, the kind once used by autoworkers. It's made with a blend of mozzarella cheese and traditional Wisconsin brick cheese that melts down the side of the pie, making for a burnt, gooey, cheesy crust. It's cold-fermented for three days and is closer to sourdough. It has real flavor and an airier texture. It's like a lighter version of a Sicilian with a buttery crust. As a starter, we decided on the Chopped Salad. For our main entrée, we opted for the Jersey Tomato Pizza Pie. Portions run big enough for sharing, and we downed them with the 1911 Cider. The pizza crust was light, airy, and crispy with the right amount of fresh ingredients, making the ensemble tastefully delicious. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and our server was Adam. The price was comparable to the area. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place.

The first margherita pizza I ordered was delicious and looked exactly like the photos they advertise online -- fluffy wood-fired crust, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and overall high quality. That positive experience is the reason I ordered again. Tonight, however, I opened the box and received what looked more like a thin-crust cheese pizza with tiny pieces of what appeared to be spinach scattered on top instead of fresh basil. The crust was thin and flat, not the thick, airy wood-fired dough that is advertised on their website and delivery platforms. The fresh mozzarella was also replaced with grated cheese, which completely changed the pizza. When I called the restaurant, I was told they do "Tavern Thursdays," where the margherita pizza is made differently -- thin crust, grated cheese, and basil sprinkled on instead of the traditional version. My issue is not necessarily that they offer a different style on Thursdays -- it's that this was NOT clearly advertised anywhere on the website or ordering platform where I placed my order. I was instead told that the information is posted on Instagram. That is unacceptable. Customers should not have to check a restaurant's social media to find out that the item they're ordering is completely different from what is being advertised on the actual ordering platform. If the pizza is going to be fundamentally changed one day a week, that should be clearly stated on the website, menu, and delivery apps before checkout. Otherwise, it feels misleading and false advertising. The pizza I received looked nothing like the photos used to advertise the margherita pizza, and not at all like the one I previously received. Really disappointing experience, especially after such a great first order.
