Beautiful spot, but $500 fine-dining prices with diner-level execution…read more Where to start. We've been coming here by boat for years. Experiences have always had up-and-down moments, but this time was disappointing because I really wanted it to be great. It just wasn't. The Good: The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the waterfront ambiance is spot on. It's clearly the place to be at the lake--so good job on the venue. The Service & Atmosphere: Service was adequate, but far from fine dining. If you're charging premium prices, the service model needs to match. Having random runners drop food at the table without knowing who ordered what is diner or casual Mexican restaurant service, not an elegant dining experience. The new manager stopped by twice--a nice touch, until we actually provided constructive feedback. Instead of offering a remedy, he offered excuses about being new and didn't handle criticism well. The Food: Apps (Deviled Eggs & Tuna): Both looked like they'd been plated earlier in the day--they had an unappetizing "sheen" to them that made them look leftover rather than fresh. The flavor on the eggs was completely muted, and the tuna was equally lusterless. Salads: We split the Caesar, and our friends had the wedge. They were served without any offer of fresh pepper. When we flagged down a staff member, they brought out cheap grocery-store salt and pepper grinders. Later, we were told the new chef prefers not to offer pepper on the table. With all due respect to the chef: that's the guest's choice, not yours. (Side note: the wedge was tasty, but oddly wasn't actually cut into a wedge). Mains: The ladies had the Sea Bass--the dish that originally put this place on the map. It was okay, but not as good as it used to be; the new Asian flair and bowl presentation take away from what used to make it the star of the show. The pork chop was good and thoroughly enjoyed. My lasagna had a great portion size and good base flavor, but it was dry as jerky with practically zero sauce. The Verdict: The restaurant will continue to thrive simply because of its location and the lack of competing fine-dining options on the water. But when you're dropping $500 on dinner, you expect accountability and an outstanding meal. We won't be back anytime soon.

Our first visit to Encore and it definitely won't be our last!…read more The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. The upper level has a more upscale feel, with a beautiful dining room and an incredible covered outdoor space complete with a stage for live music. The massive windows and stunning views overlooking the peninsula make it the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the evening. As for the food... wow. I had the crab legs, which were cooked perfectly, but can we talk about the green beans for a minute? They were ridiculously good. If licking the bowl in public wasn't frowned upon, I might have considered it. Colin ordered the salmon, which was absolutely beautiful and served with rice pilaf. Chris went with the crab-crusted walleye, and it was cooked to perfection. Emma Grace chose the giant pretzel, and giant is an understatement, it was the size of a dinner plate! It came with an assortment of charcuterie-style accompaniments that were fantastic all on their own. Then came dessert, and somehow things got even better. The bread pudding was hands-down one of the best I've ever had. I don't eat bread pudding often, but this one may have ruined all future bread puddings for me. We also shared the cheesecake and cookie skillet, and every bite was delicious. To top it all off, our waitress Makayla was absolutely wonderful and made the entire experience even better. Great food, beautiful views, amazing service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Encore knocked it out of the park. We'll definitely be making a return trip next summer!

Both options had live music. They also have Happy Hour until 6:30pm. So we ordered drinks and deviled eggs as an appetizer - which was delicious. We informed the server I was celiac and my mom has a dairy allergy. She made sure everything was safe for us and confirmed with the kitchen on any questions we had. She was fantastic and we had a great experience. I ordered the ratatouille lasagna which came with 2 sides. I had the baked potato and vegetable medley. The food was very tasty! Highly recommend this place!

This little bar is tucked back in a strip of bars and shops. You would definitely miss it if you weren't looking for it. We walked in up to the bar and ordered our drinks. They come in 16 or 32 ounces. This weekend we were offered styrofoam or they usual souvenir bucket. My sister got one and I got the bucket. Not sure why I thought I could drink 32 ounces or Miami Vice but I tried. The hurricane my sister got was delicious. There were quite a few options of frozen drinks, maybe 10. This is a must do, if you love frozen drinks. An odd thing on my way out, was a cage near the door that looked like it could be for a monkey, and there was a mini schnauzer in it. Thought it was a bit odd leaving a dog in a cage inside a smoky bar all day, but okay.?

One coin dropping game, a computer type gambling game, and a pin ball machine. The smell of cigarettes was pretty overwhelming and we left with the smell on us for sure. When we walked in it was a bit awkward because it was a little bit older crowd and they all stopped talking to stare at us since it was a small place... The good part about this bar was the friendly bartender, and the variety of frozen drinks. They were very tasty and priced about the same as everywhere else on the lake.

They are fans of the Ozark series and were especially excited to experience the restaurant. Unfortunately, the visit was extremely disappointing. The service, food quality, and cleanliness fell well short of reasonable expectations. It took approximately 20 minutes simply to place our order and another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The table we were seated at was sticky and still had water rings from previous guests. After waiting about 10 minutes with no attention, I had to go to the bar myself to request a cloth to wipe the table and to obtain menus. While the restaurant did not appear particularly busy, it was clearly understaffed. Our party of five ordered sandwiches, one appetizer, and one beer (the rest of us had water). The total came to $134. The bill was presented on a handheld device, and when I asked for an itemized receipt, I was told one was not available. This only added to the frustration of an already poor experience. I left feeling embarrassed for the Lake area and regretful that I had brought guests there. I will absolutely not return.
