Just had dinner here with my parents and husband last weekend, it's my dad favorite place. We all loved it! The food was amazing, old time seafood dishes that reminded me of Sunday dinner at my grandmas! Some may say that the service is a little slow but I don't mind, I go out to dinner to relax, unwind, and enjoy my time with family and friends, not for a quick microwave meal with rushed service you get a those chain restaurants! Have been to going to the Brick House since it opened and have always had a great experience. Was there to see my friends band Pompous Pie and to have dinner. Pete knows how to cook a great meal and run the place. I had the fresh grilled tuna and my my wife had the fresh grilled swordfish. Had the carrot cake for desert, which was fabulous. The deserts are done offsite and that person knows hows to bake. If you are wondering, Pete has been a friend of my way before he opened the Brick House. That said, I would still stay that this a great place to have a meal, even if I was not a friend. I had not been here to have dinner in a year and half. I been crazy busy and it is also a hike to get here from where I live. So, I made an effort to find the time get back and have dinner. Before doing so I read the reviews and the recent ones were not kind. I called a mutual of the owner to make sure that he still owned the place, which he does. It's a cute little place. The food would have been great because the seafood was of the best quality, but was not seasoned at all everything was very bland. No old bay in sight. Great night at the Brick House. I had lamb chops -- 4, served medium rare. Ask Pete to hold the mint jelly and give you double chutney. Judy had soft shell crabs-- two beauties that filled her plate. Baked potatoes all round. Best wine by the glass any place in the area and the bonus of a chat with Pete. Also recommend the Tuna Wasabi appetizer and the Rockfish. Great customer service! The food was just ok though. I had the fried seafood platter with haddock, shrimp, oysters, and clams. The clam and shrimp were awesome but the fish lacked flavor and the oysters were bitter. My friend had the stuffed shrimp and loved it! Our appetizer was the crab bread which was too rich for my pallet. read more

This is my first visit to the Brick House for dinner. I grew up in Cedarhurst 50 years ago and knew it as the Bay View Inn. The atmosphere is comfortable casual, the receptionist perky and sweet. The waitress seemed a bit anxious when one of our party tried to tailor their entree to something that was not quite the original offering. The food was a pleasant surprise. The salad was crisp and fresh. The soft shell crabs cooked to perfection. The vegetables nicely seasoned and tasty. The price was fair in view of the quality of the seafood and skill in cooking it. Solid food, good atmosphere and a staff that is definately interested in customer service. The chef serves nice dishes and drinks are made well. It is one of our standby hangouts. Seafood is their strength, so try the Rockfish. read more

Ok the out side and inside probably could use a good update, But the food is amazing! Best steak I've had in years! I had the twin fillet and vegetables both steaks where cooked to perfection, and veggies where soft and cooked perfectly. This is not a one time deal.. I rarely post negative reviews but my experience at the Brickhouse was probably the worst dining experience I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, the service was great but the food and atmosphere were just plain awful. -First thing I noticed when I walked in was how dim it was and that the bar was packed but the dining area was empty... should have been my first clue. -The table was filthy. There was a plastic cloth on our table (served as a tablecloth) that was covered in grime. I felt like walking out then but I was there with a group so I sat down and tried to forget that I was eating on a pleather sheet covered in bay mud. -Our waters came and they weirdly tasted of metal. I understand the use of well water in the area but no chlorine injection? Yikes. -The seafood appetizer was okay. It did seem very fresh but the crab was extremely bland and not something you would expect in a waterfront community steakhouse restaurant. The oysters were really good, I will say that. -My entree was terrible. The steak was thin and overcooked. It was a ~$20 steak and it was absolutely awful. I resorted to taking bites of my friend's shrimp meal since he didn't like his and it lacked any kind of flavor. It was just terrible. -We left without complaint but absolutely everyone in our group was shocked that a restaurant like that was still in business. I, however, was not shocked that we were the only patrons in the dining room. Now I know why the bar was full and the dining area was empty! Stopped by the Brick House on a Saturday night to hear a great blues/rock band, Pompous Pie, with some friends at the Brick House. I was pleasantly surprised to find the food delicious. The chef prepared oysters with a dash of vodka, dab of cream and topping of caviar. The tender local oysters were very well complimented, and not lost in the other flavors. Shad roe is in season and being a proper Marylander, I couldn't wait to taste it. . The roe was pan-seared to perfection atop bacon strips with lemon wedges, sauteed onions and capers as compliments. The onion soup was very good also. It's now our favorite place in South County to eat. read more

We went for the Thursday night prime rib with our children. First the prime rib came out Luke warm at best, then when our 21 month old became upset the cook (wouldn't classify him a chef) first looked around from the bar and made a rude comment. We got her settled for a time and then she became upset again and started crying. The cook had the gall, within earshot of us to tell a table of four older folks "just say the word and I'll have them leave." Needless to say, with sub-par prime rib and that attitude toward customers with children, I will not return. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! This is an absolute travesty of a dining establishment. We live within a couple hundred feet of Brick House. My wife and I decided to try out the menu, against better advice. The most egregious offense was the fake crab meat in my dish, which was disgusting. I had the chef/owner take me to the back where he attempted to pass the red, manufactured slop off as Maryland crab back-fin. We ordered the most expensive and "tasty" items on the menu. Horrid!!! We did not ask for a refund, nor were we offered. I asked for them to change the music from the beach boy tracks on repeat and was told the clientele only liked that music. The ambiance is of a dilapidated crack den as well. Furniture is mismatched with flea market "flair" on the walls. Everything is terrible, down to the bread. At least now I have a semblance of how one eats in North Korea. Worst restaurant I've ever been to and I mean that. Unquestionably the #1 WORST meal I've ever experienced...clueless, incompetent service, and shoddily, sloppily prepared food (the "Jumbo Lump" crabmeat was not only NOT jumbo lump, it was overcooked and barely edible). Last week was our first (and probably last) visit to the Brickhouse. We arrived around 8pm for a late dinner and were greeted with a very frazzled looking waitress. Opting for bar seating, we belly up and its truly a disaster. Empty juice containers and glasses littered the bar top while the waitstaff scurried around frantically trying to serve the half empty restaurant, complaining all the while. Placing our drink orders took some time, but we quickly decided what we wanted to eat so we weren't out too late. It took almost half an hour to place our food order and almost 45 minutes to get our food (crab cake sandwich and a burger). I was excited to try the crab cake sandwich as the menu proclaimed it award winning. What I got was such a disappointment. A small, burnt cake arrived in front of me with no condiments or sauce. The waitress seemed confused when I asked for a few things to top my sandwich with. Under the burnt outer crust the crab was DELICIOUS. But definitely not worth the $13.50 price tag. All in all it was a rough dinner. I got the impression they were short staffed that night? Perhaps this place would be good if you're just interested in a drink at the bar, but I'll save my money for elsewhere. read more

Casual, welcoming and local. My 3 Sunday rules. Ordered a Cesar Salad with tuna steak and it was great. The greens were crisp-crunchy and the dressing was fresh with just enough zing (garlic and anchovy) to not overpower the parmesean. The tuna steak was cooked to perfection. Arrived around 8:30pm for a late dinner with some friends. This was my first and only visit to this restaurant. When we arrived there were open tables but it took 15 minutes to be seated. After ordering 2 waters a beer and a glass of wine we asked our server if we could split the check. Unfortunately this upset the server who became very irritated that we asked to split the check this seemed like an impossible task... to separate 4 drinks. After that awkward moment we looked over the menu for a bit. The waitress returned taking our order. About 30 minutes pass and the waitress came back to the table to tell us she lost the piece of paper our order was written on...so our order had not been placed. So we had to tell her what we odered and also seperated the drinks for a second time.It took about 45 minutes to an hour to get our food. At this point my stomach was growling so loud the ground was quaking. The waitress was still grumpy but I was just so happy to see food that her poor attitude didn't matter at this point. The food was really good. My friends got steak which looked very good and my s/o got for the shrimp scampi which was tasty. By this time it was pushing 11pm and I had been in my work clothes all day so we got the check... which was wrong. Tldr; service was bad. And embarrassing. Food was good. I love to order two appetizers and call that dinner: Oysters Rockefeller and the Barbecued Shrimp over Angel Hair pasta make me happy every time. My husband usually orders the local fish and its always very fresh and well prepared. Most recently he had the rockfish and said it was the best fish he had had anywhere. This is a cozy, locally owned and operated restaurant that has earned its loyal clientele. read more

If I could give this restaurant a negative number of stars I would. It is gone downhill incredibly in the last few years and I'm not sure why. If you plan on going to this restaurant I suggest that you stay away from the wines as they are probably Two Buck Chuck. The barbecue shrimp was exceptionally horrible. It tasted like something my five-year-old would make half awake. The shrimp was wrapped in bacon but to top it off they slopped barbecue sauce on top and then placed it on a bed of angel hair pasta. It's pretty sad that even under all of that you could tell that this was reheated from being frozen in a microwave. When we contacted the wait staff to ask them to adjust our ticket that we were going to go somewhere else that we didn't want the rest of our order, it was like pulling teeth. The end result was we ended up getting charged for everything despite giving them ample notice that we did not want the other items we ordered moments before.
