Hadn't been to Pirates Cove in a couple of years after being a weekly regular during sailing season. I had a couple of friends in from Colorado and wanted to expose them to some authentic Maryland seafood on the water without going over to the Eastern Shore. Pirates Cove was the perfect call. Literally dockside in the tucked away town of Galesville, we sat and enjoyed drooling over all the boats. In the winter, there is a great enclosed patio that can be completely opened up in the summer. The dockside bar was closed for the season, but is hopping in the summer months. We ordered a variety of seafood appetizers and main courses to share amongst our group. Everything from the oysters, cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and mussels were perfectly prepared and delicious. Hands down the Cream of Crab soup is IMO the best in the Mid-Atlantic. They also have the half Maryland/half Cream of Crab soup option, which is one of my favorite meals. Everyone is still raving about the food and we have some CO converts from Rocky Mountain Oysters to real Maryland oysters! While the food was outstanding, the service was just as good. Our wait staff did a fantastic job walking through the menu to recommend the best options for a true Maryland seafood feast. It was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to come back. read more

Had shrimp salad sandwhich, fries, coleslaw. Shrinp was good not soggy with mayo at all. Fries could be hotter though and a bit dry and the coleslaw was perfect. Iced tea was okay, not great, a bit weak.Had to ask for more ice. Beautiful views on the water, entertainment on the bar side. Staff is very nice. An all around goid experience. read more

Went back to Pirate's Cove and sat at the bar. We were bummed the outside bar wasn't open yet. We had drinks and hung out for awhile. I can't remember our bartender's name but she was responsive to our questions. I didn't get any pictures since we were at the bar. It's a nice local place and I certainly wouldn't have gone here on my own since its off the beaten path. read more

This restaurant sits on a boating dock. We set outside and the views were beautiful and the service was good!We got the Prince Edward Island Mussels, Captain's Blue Crab Stuffed Flounder with a side salad, Oysters Rockefeller, the Crawfish Étouffée and the Beignets. It was all very tasty! The Creamy Cilantro Lime dressing for the salad is a bit spicy. The restaurant also hand a live performance with a guitarist outside. I will forward to going back. read more

I visited Pirates Cove last Thursday, April 2nd, with my kids and grandkids during their spring break, and we had a wonderful experience! I hadn't been to Pirates Cove in years, so I was pleasantly surprised by the renovations. The restaurant felt open, bright, and very welcoming. We really enjoyed the food--especially the crab cake entrée and the cod and chips, which were both delicious. Our server, Kristy, was attentive, friendly, and a true delight. When my sister asked me to go to Pirate's Cove, I first had to recall where it was and then remembered that it was actually just 15 minutes from my house. I couldn't believe it! I'm so glad we went. I really enjoyed the food and drinks; I had avocado toast while my sister had the cream of crab and seafood lasagna. No place (except maybe top rated Michelin restaurants) is flawless. This 5 star rating is for the best Fish and Chips we have had in this area. They are not kidding when they say it is the Cod Loin. It is a gorgeous cut cooked to perfection and the batter is the right kind (not breaded) We take our own tartar sauce as we find theirs not to our taste. I usually only like butterflied-or fan tail- shrimp for frying. Theirs is the first whole fried shrimp I really like. The cocktail sauce is decent. Fries are good; coleslaw is outstanding. The Crab Balls are very good and consist of recognizable back fin meat. Service is usually good but we had a social butterfly last time who was so busy hob-knobbing that we never got our to go order in. The view is lovely. Ambiance inside is nice. We are fans! read more

We drove 30+ mins to visit this restaurant based on a friend's (who is a local and frequents here often) recommendation. It took our server appx 10 mins to greet us, despite walking past us multiple times without even acknowledging us. This wouldn't have been as glaring but for the table next to us, who came in after us, were greeted and served immediately even before the entire party was seated. Our server never introduced herself and seemed uncertain (and/or uncomfortable) the entire time she was serving us, though she was very friendly with the remaining tables she was serving. We had to let her know each time we were ready to order the next course instead of her checking on us. Our daughter ordered her meal and we didn't realize until it was brought out (when another server who brought out the food seemed confused when he saw my daughter had an adult meal) that she put it in as a regular meal. The server didn't clarify that it wasn't a kids meal and assumed that our young daughter (9 yo) wanted an adult meal despite her having a kids menu she was coloring. The entire experience was off putting and disappointing. Though this was a highly recommended location, and most of the food ordered was good with the exception of the fish and chips being a bit soggy, we will not be returning based on the lack luster service. Love this place! The food is always very fresh and portions are large. Some of our favorites are the Cajun chicken pasta, Shrimp Louis, and fish and chips. We love that they offer cod or haddock as a choice for fish and chips. They have live music on weekends indoors and at the dockside dining. The waitstaff are always friendly and accommodating. 1st let me say I love that this on the water! That just stole my heart! There is a tiki bar if you want to sit outside instead of being in the restaurant. The restaurant has outdoor and inside seating and a bar area. We had the Chesapeake flat bread pizza. It was so yummy. The crab dip is the sauce topped with shrimp and cheese. My entree was the crabcake. It had a very good taste and if it wasn't for the veggies and baked potato I probably could of ate 2 of them. We wanted seafood by the water so we stopped by Pirates Cove for lunch. It has two side ls to dine,m. An outdoor/dock bar and a inside restaurant. It was cutely decorated. They played 80s music throughout the restaurant and had breathtaking water views! We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share. We had the fried green tomatoes, half Maryland crab soup and cream of crab soup, house garden salad, crab dip, mini crab cakes/balls, and a baked potato. I need to mention that the scallions I received were dried out. The salad seemed a bit wilted and the tomatoes were mushy. The baked potato was not completely cooked. The waitress quickly took it off the bill and whisked it away with no questions asked. The stars of the cuisine were the crab dip and the mini crap cakes/balls. They were so good and full of flavor. First time visiting Maryland and it was beautiful! First night out my party of four went out to Pirates Cove for dinner and drinks. Parking was a bit sparse in front of the restaurant, but there were lots of spots in the marina parking lot. We got a table by the window and it wasn't too loud despite it being a busy Saturday night. Our waitress was friendly and quick with our beverage and entree orders, we really enjoyed our time there! I don't know where to start first it's the most beautiful place on the water. They just redid the place and it's spectacular. The flute is really reasonable and you can different things that you do at other restaurants, but they still have the basics. They have a great happy hour the drinks Are real good. Stopped in for dinner sat outside on the deck didn't realize they had live music on the other side or we would have sat over there. First our server was as slow as a snail he couldn't handle more than 1 table at a time, and if you needed something you wouldn't get it until he was finished with the next table he was working on. The wife order the flounder and shrimp with rice and veggies and I got the single crab cake with coleslaw and side salad. My wife said her food was pretty good but her veggies were cold well by the time the server came back to the table to see how everything was she was done, my $29 crab cake looked almost like a Dunkin' doughnut hole this thing was lucky to be 3oz and that was because of the parsley and the mayo that was in it. The coleslaw was ok I prefer the cabbage to be chopped up finer but I would get it again. The salad was actually pretty good the blue cheese dressing that I got was also pretty good. I don't know why they say there aren't a lot of crabs out there, I know of 4 places that sell crabs and they have plenty of them always people buying them. read more

Parking was a little hard. It seems out of the way but not that out of the way because the parking lot was packed and we almost thought we had to go some place else, however I made a spot work. We opted to sit outside because it was such a nice day. We ordered the Oyster Rockefeller which was really good. Second time having it. Then we ordered the crab dip. It was pretty good. I've had better. I would not order again however if someone else ordered some and they offered I would partake. We both got the Seafood Trio. We we so full we ate half and had the other half for lunch. The shrimp was perfect. Not everyone can cook shrimp. The scallops were also good. It was my first time having red snapper and will not be my last. The rice was cooked to perfection. The view was amazing and the service was great. The atmosphere was laid back which I appreciate. We used to really enjoy Pirates Cove but this last visit was a huge disappointment. Grilled Seafood Salad, was not grilled, husband has shellfish allergy so asked for shrimp & scallops to be replaced by tuna. Charged 3% more to make all tuna. Not much tuna at all and one piece was cartilage and uneatable. Salad was overdressed and extremely garlicky. My Chesapeake Flatbread had no crab in the dip and just shrimp to cover lack of crabmeat. Very poor quality and taste, on top of being charged extra for no scallops and shrimp - we will not be returning. read more

It's a decent place scenic dining room. Very nice staff foods. OK nothing spectacular. A nice lunch. It's certainly not inexpensive. They add 3% to your bill for a credit card and when I went to pay cash, they said let us take the 3% off, which was like, the hell time put it on before you give it to somebody but the waitress just keep it.
