Came by on Father's Day with my mom to meet up with a few other people. She has been coming here for years since they opened in 1978. This is as mom and pap shop as it gets with a full bar and traditional food with it. For drinks we had a gin and tonic, toasted almond and a Michael's ultra beer. Good drinks with great service. We were able to chat and drink at their outdoor seatings. I was even able to get a photo with the charismatic owner Rocky/Rocko Difilipo. Contrary to how this place looks from the outside, I was surprised to find zero needles anywhere in here. I even tried looking but all I found were keno tickets and cocktail napkins beneath the barflies feet. It is most certainly a place to overload yourself with a couple handfuls of Heineken before rolling the dice on 1A. We have been going to the brickyard for many years. The food is really good. The burgers are delicious and they always come out as we ordered them. This is not a fine dining restaurant. It is a complete dive. We love it. Nope, no fancy tablecloths or candles. The ambience is that of a dive bar, however if you want great food and a cheers like atmosphere, this is your place. The also have special events like musical bingo, Halloween party and a night before thanksgiving party. Give them a try. We have never not been treated well. read more

Went on 1/1. They advertised breakfast, see ad posted. What a joke. First off, this place is a total dump. All the curtains were closed and it was completely dark inside. Place was very dated and gloomy. When I asked for coffee, waitress look shocked and had a shitty response, no we don't have that. I thought, you advertised breakfast and you don't have coffee??!! Are you kidding me? Even gas stations have coffee for crying out loud. When I asked again (to clarify) she said no, we don't normally have that so.... as though I asked for a filet mignon. I should have left right then and there. When I asked for menus, they didn't have that either! So they proceeded to yell out a couple of breakfast items from the back. They had some sandwiches they can throw on a grill, eggs, pancakes and that was it. So we got 2 breakfast sandwiches, a watery o.j. and my friend got one drink with some alcohol in it, $30!! So, a completely shitty, dive bar with terrible service. NEVER AGAIN. Dunkin Donuts would have been a better option. I went there after. read more

So it was the first Saturday in October and it was our intent to visit Salem...when we discovered that parking was $40...we made our way back toward Boston via Lynn. We were starving and selected this bar/restaurant for late lunch! And we were not disappointed! Deemed a "locals" bar...we weren't sure what to expect. Kind of dark upon entry but not unwelcoming. Local sports bar with several tvs & background music. We chose a booth. Menu is simple and reasonably priced. We ordered some Shipyards and perused. We selected cheeseburgers (with fries). Asked about doneness & condiments/toppings. We chose lettuce, tomato & bacon. When the food arrived it was hot & fresh...covered in perfectly melted white American cheese and topped with generous and perfectly cooked bacon. The burger was hand pattied, cooked to perfection, and accompanied by ample and perfectly fried fries! I ate til I was full and left a good bit behind (cuz I only eat til full). We paid and left fat & happy. The owner must've noticed I didn't finish my food, and followed us out to ensure that we had been satisfied. That level of care and concern is above and beyond the ordinary...but the food spoke for itself and I would surely return & highly recommend it to others! Heck! Ordered 4 steak tip salads found a hair in one of them and a metal twist tie in the other one. I am very disappointed when I went in to pick up the order the cook made a comment saying I ordered my food to go so I wouldn't have to tip since I did sit there and eat 2 of my salads and brought the other two back to the office I work for co workers. I would understand if they were serving me then I would tip and picking up take out doesn't necessarily mean you have to tip. Very rude and very unprofessional! read more

Definitely a locals hang out bar. As soon as you walk in you can feel the vibe. They have keno and other lotteries like scratchers, etc. Or you can play pool on the pool table between the entrance and bar. Not a friendly place though, not welcoming at all, however, the burger was cooked perfectly at medium and generous in size. If it wasn't for the unfriendly bartender who was rude AF, and likes to ruin peoples day, I would think this place was decent. Change your bartender, and this place would get more business. The brickyard is the place in Lynn to get the best steak tips in town. The steak tip dinner comes with a small garden salad and fries. The steak is cooked to perfection every time I order. The fries are always golden brown, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As for the side salad, it includes iceberg lettuce, one grape tomato, a cucumber slice or two and large rings of onion. Multiple dressings are available. In the past, I've also tried the burgers and BBQ chicken both were very well cooked and tasty. This is basically a bar with BBQ. The bartenders are always friendly and prepare great drinks. Small neighborhood pub environment. Pretty low key the day we went, we sat right at the bar. We were greeted promptly and warmly, we readily felt welcome. Beer was cold, bartender was right there with a fresh one as my glass started looking empty. Burger was tasty and cooked to correct temperature, as were the lovely steak tips, which had a complementary marinade- not overwhelmingly sweet or anything, just right. Fries were nice and thick cut, crispy and hot. Also had grilled chicken which was also a tasty item. All around good choice for reasonably quick and tasty eats in a nice cozy neighborhood pub with quality staff. read more

Horrible service. 10-15 minutes to have a bartender come over, took order, an hour to get food, never checked back, had to go up to the bar to wave down the other bartender to get the check. The manager was SO accommodating. We had a group of 11 who had made a reservation at another place (who decided to close the kitchen early and turned us away despite our prior reservation) and he told us we were more than welcome despite the kitchen normally closing at 8pm on a Sunday and it being 8.25pm! One of my favorite bars in Lynn. Used to be so crowded you could never get inside, but lately the economy is hurting bars in Lynn. That doesn't deter me from visiting here. The owner puts a LOT of work and effort into his establishment and is a great guy. The drink prices are below average for Lynn. Most places charge $6-7 for Crown Royal or Johnnie Walker Red/Black, this place is $5. Come on dart night and see the crowds be similar to what they used to be. I can't comment on the food, but everyone has told me that is pretty good so I'll take their word on it. read more

Best steak tips around, always juicy and tender. The steak tip dinner comes with a good amount tips, fries, and a side salad. You can get onion rings instead of fries for 1$ more and they are sooo worth it. Nice thick onion rings. Drinks are priced good. Staff is always very welcoming and polite. After all of the reviews I was expecting a diamond in the rough. The bar ambience was as expected - def local hang out but everyone was so friendly! And service was fantastic - major kudos to the bartenders! The food was good but not as good as other reviews suggested. The tips were very tender but could have used some more seasoning. My husband & I decided to give this place a try as it had positive reviews and that it's a 4 minute drive from our house that we've resided in for 28 years...we walked in and it was definitely nothing fancy....an outdated barroom with some booths. The bartender, Kim, was our server and she was fantastic! Great attitude...great service...menu is not big or fancy...basic pub food...we both ordered the steak tips...myself the meal and my husband on a salad. The steak tips were excellent! Went there on a Tuesday night @ 6:00 PM they have darts, a pool table a couple of T.Vs smaller bar/ restaurant type nice people i got a good size hamburger with fries for only $ 5.00 dollars!! and a pepsi $ 7.00 dollars!! total...........yes i will be going back there again. read more
