Coming back to Salem from the airport with a friend, we stopped at Sidelines as it was one of the few places in town open late on a weeknight. The place wasn't too busy so we immediately got a seat but it did take at least 15 minutes for someone to come ask for our orders. At that point we were ready to order our food and drinks. I got the ragin cajun burger with fries upgraded to onion rings. The burger was tasty and the onion rings were average, although I liked the dipping sauce. We agreed that it was the classic bar food we were in the mood for. The music (Drake songs back to back to back) inside was so loud that I was having to yell to my friend across the booth from me. I get that they want to have a lively sports bar atmosphere but it felt like I was at a downtown club in Boston on a Saturday night. They have a large menu with plenty of food options but they clearly emphasize the drinks at Sidelines. Overall I would return, maybe the next time I feel like hitting the club. read more

We're from out of town and called two hours before and were assured they'd turn a game on for us. We arrived an hour early to get a table and the game we were wanting to see turned on. At least 6 different workers assured us they'd turn the game on when it started. We ordered $85 worth of food (cold wings and gross) a single drink, and asked several more times to get the game on and 30 minutes into the game, they still wouldn't turn it on. We asked for napkins, silverware, and a water and never received any of it. Thankfully a nice couple next to us shared some of their napkins. The service was awful, they never brought us anything and never turned our game on, so I demanded our bill which took another 25 mins to get and we left. We were on vacation. I read the reviews for the bugers and wings We got the potato skin which were burnt on the bottom the wing were dry not juicy. Burgers were average. Our service was excellent the waitress was very helpful and attentive. I didn't like the loud music because we were usable to talk to each other. Weekend evenings have a big college crowd (Salem State is just down the road), but most of the time there's a good mix of families and friends of every age. I love sidelines! It's a great place to catch a game or have a low-key dinner. It is my 10-year-old daughter's favorite place for some inexplicable reason, but I don't argue! I love their Caesar salad with steak tips, and the wings are phenomenal ! The wait staff is always so friendly, although I am concerned that they will catch pneumonia one of these days. read more

I didn't have high hopes with it being the only place we could find still open late night. But I was pleasantly surprised. The place was packed and I totally understand why. My friends and I came here out of whim when leaving an establishment across the street. We decided to grab a few quick bites and a drink. It was a seat yourself style with lots of locals it appeared and relatively full on a Friday night. We decided to sit in the corner as there wasn't any bar table space and we also wanted to be out-of-the-way. Our waitress was serving all the tables around the perimeter of the bar, so she was very occupied. Nonetheless, she was still nice and tried her best to come back to our table. Perjuring Suy shared one of the buckets which was intended for two servings but was a fair amount for three. We ended up getting another bucket as it was very tropical and easy to drink. We shared an order of the sideline wings, fried pickles, and the steak and cheese eggrolls. everything came out very fresh and in a decent time frame. I thought the wings could have been crispier and with less sauce. The fried pickles were more batter than pickles. I liked the steak and cheese a roll but I thought it was not a good pairing with the spicy mayonnaise sauce on the side. Definitely could've benefited with something a little bit more of an agree to cut the cheesiness. Overall, my friend and I had a decent time. It's an easy place to come to when just trying to hang out at this part of Salem. I may come again. read more

Had lunch here yesterday, got there just as they were opening and had prime choice of bar seats. The renovations after the accident earlier this year were well done. The drink menu is insanely large and made choosing one thing difficult lol. I had a mimosa made with pink lemonade vodka and hubs opted for a pina colada. He got a lil flask as a souvenir:). We asked the bartender what they are known for and she listed off a few items, including their wings. We chose the 10 wings that come in two different flavors of your choice, we got the Salem sauce and the sweet thai chili. The wings had a great crust, sauces were perfect, they were huge. We really should have stopped there but got the Caesar chicken wrap and sliders for lunch. Hubs said the wrap was really good and fat, he brought half home. I got the cheeseburger sliders and they were cute but probably wouldnt order again, not well seasoned. Overall, we had a great experience and will be back! Oh, and we got one of their tropical shots, the sunset and I thought it might have been too sweet for my liking, but it was really refreshing! read more

First place I tried while in town. I was staying at a B&B about a mile outside of town so wanted something somewhat close. It appeared to be a typical college bar. The food tasted good and the nightly specials were shocking. And by shocking it is a good thing. Very impressive. I'm just used to the bartenders holding small chit chat or at least checkin with you prior to your drink is empty. I also had a draft so couldn't use the excuse of they couldn't tell. They kicked me out for absolutely no reason-- the evening bartender/waitress (on 4-November-2020) refused to give me food and service for absolutely no reason. She was gladly serving others in the restaurant who walked in at the same time, and it was not anywhere near closing!.. and I entered with a mask. When I asked her why, she said "Ma'am I refuse to serve you, please leave" and she would not tell me why. The only thing I can possibly think of is that she was being racist/discriminatory because of the color of my skin (I am tan/filipino) which is really sad because I thought Salem was an open minded place. Please do not support this establishment. P.S.
