GarlicFries..... Crisp. Fair portion. But where is the garlic? I left with my fries wishing I had held out for something else. Pizzas look good. But I didnt try. Maybe next time.

Pretty good food!! We ordered the Carne pizza and the hawaiian pizza with no jalapenos. The pizzas were good but we just wished the hawaiian pizza had more of the other toppings to compensate for our request of no jalapenos. Other than that service was good and food was good!

We had a great experience here! Demetri and Adrian helped us out and were super friendly and quick, pizza was fresh and yummy and overall a great experience, will definitely be returning!

"The Sad Italian" I am used to an Italian having a good portion of meat, that is the opposite of what I would call this sad presentation!

They should call it "Sad Little Italy," that's what I said when I opened it up! There is very little meat on this sandwich! So disappointing !

For food, we ordered a few things including the Cesare salad, Tortelli, scallops, seafood pasta, lamb shank, mushrooms, and one other special. Everything was ok, but nothing was particularly remarkable or interesting. All the food was well-prepared and the lamb was tender. The Cesare salad was good and so were the scallops. I wouldn't get the Tortelli again, it was plain. The service was poor. We had to flag the server down a few times. She didn't check in with us throughout the meal. My friend didn't like her cocktail and asked for a new menu and she ordered another drink. We didn't make a fuss and the server didn't ask about the full cocktail that she took away. I don't expect them to comp the drink, but the server should have at least asked what was wrong or why she didn't like it. Feedback is important and she didn't seem to want any. I expected better service at this restaurant, which is supposed to be one of the better restaurants in Ojai. Overall, I'd recommend going elsewhere if you're in town. The food was good, but nothing special and there are other great restaurants that are more affordable, with better service.

We were told it would be 30-35 minutes, but it only ended up being 8 minutes. It was so nice to be in a restaurant with character, history and personality. Loved seeing all the old photos. It was noisy, but not from loud music, but from people chatting and enjoying having conversations. We order the red and white pasta, tri tip sandwich and pastrami sandwich. They do not skimp on the meat. Sandwiches were delicious. I enjoyed my pasta and side plate of salami, cheese and bread. To end our lunch we had the butterfinger ice cream pie. Chef's kiss on a great lunch. The staff at Luigi's doesn't skip a beat. Our water glasses were never empty. Even being busy, the service isn't compromised. Afterwards, we walked around their store. We settled in with a couple glasses of Raywood Cabernet Sauvignon while we waited for dessert. Looking around, it was easy to see why this place has become such a local favorite. The red-and-white checkered tablecloths, vintage family photos, and easygoing atmosphere make Boccali's feel like it's been woven into the community for decades. When the strawberry shortcake arrived, it was immediately clear why people make the drive. Fresh strawberries are piled generously over a warm shortcake and topped with an enormous cloud of fresh whipped cream. The contrast between the warm shortcake, cool whipped cream, and fresh berries made every bite memorable. Despite its impressive size, it never felt overly heavy. Boccali's has been serving this seasonal favorite since opening in 1986, and it's easy to see why it has become their signature dessert. One thing I especially appreciated is that it's only available during strawberry season. Knowing I was enjoying something that isn't on the menu year-round made the experience feel even more special. We get there, and asked if we have a reservation...uh oh....it was Valentines Weekend, but they did find a table for us. Then we get a waiter who I believe was the busboy to help out and we are told right off the bat that the tempura cauliflower AND the cordon bleu were sold out. Well, damn... this is not a good start. I took a look at the menu and I saw a portobello mushroom appetizer that sounded interesting so, we started with that. We then got some garlic bread to munch on while waiting for the appetizer and it was really good. The portobello mushroom sliced, fried, and served with marinara sauce. I have found mushroom appetizers usually very underwhelming and I wasn't expecting anything extraordinary here, but this appetizer was delicious. The mushroom was prepared perfectly and paired so damn good with the marinara. I forgot all about the sold out cauliflower! Since the cordon bleu was off the menu, I saw my good ol' standby, eggplant parmesan on the menu. At $25, I thought it was a bit pricey considering it didn't come with pasta, but I thought, what the hell. I'll give it a go. My wife ordered the Beef bourguignon with rice. They bring our plates to the table, and my jaw literally dropped at the size of the portions. HUGE. The eggplant parmesan looked more like a lasagna and it was topped with cheese and marinara. Cutting to the chase, it was delicious, impossible to finish, and the eggplant was tender and breaded just right. That portion of eggplant became 3 more meals for me, and I can eat a lot. Worth every penny of that $25. The beef bourguignon was also delicious and the portion was very large as well. We wished we got it with the pasta instead of the rice, though. The leftovers her meal also provided a couple more meals, and the flavor holds up to reheating. I am going to be coming back to this place to sample more of the menu, because if what we had on our first visit is any indication, I will be getting a great meal no matter what is ordered. The service is a little slow, but everyone was very pleasant and seemed truly happy their food was enjoyed.

This visit was actually to celebrate my birthday. We were slightly hesitant because of the set course menu, not knowing if we'd like the offerings and leery of the value. Let me put this to rest right of the bat, it was totally worth it. We left very satisfied with both the offerings and the portion sizes. We were seated promptly and were immediately greeted by Alana who was our server. She was warm and knowledgeable, friendly yet professional, attentive but never intrusive. I had notified the restaurant during the reservation process that I needed to avoid onion and garlic because I get intense reflux. Alana confirmed this before we began discussing the courses. She assured me that she would guide me away from offerings that would upset my system. There are actually 6 courses, not just the 4 on the menu. They bring an amuse-bouche and then bread to start, before the first course. I won't get deeply into our courses because the menu changes daily, but there were a couple of things we were told that are often on the menu that were soooo good. For the pasta course, both the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe and the Rigatoni Bolognese were phenomenal. We both had different fish offerings for our main course which were excellent as well. We were so impressed with Alana that I asked to speak to the manager on our way out to express our gratitude. Graziella and her brother have created such a special dining experience. My favorite dish has always been the pistachio sauce ravioli. I didn't see it on the menu and mentioned how much I loved it, and Graziella was kind enough to make it for me anyway, explaining that it's now part of their rotating menu. That level of hospitality is rare and so appreciated. I usually never order ravioli as a main course anywhere else, but this dish is absolutely incredible and unlike any ravioli I've had. I was on a double date and convinced my friend to order the same dish because I couldn't stop talking about it. She absolutely loved it and understood immediately why it's my favorite. My fiancé and his cousin both ordered the lamb chops and couldn't stop raving about them. My fiancé substituted the seasonal vegetables for the arugula salad. He normally doesn't eat salad, but he finished the entire thing and said it was one of the best salads he's ever had. The dressing was amazing, and after trying it myself, I completely agreed. My fiancé's cousin, who I consider like a brother, was trying lamb chops for the first time and said he felt like he'd been missing out his whole life. I also ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita from the rotating cocktail menu and enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second one. The food was outstanding, but the atmosphere deserves recognition too. The patio is beautiful, romantic, and has such a relaxing ambiance. It was the perfect setting for a double date. After being away for a few years, I'm so glad I came back.
