Food: Playland for the gluten free (even the fries!!!!). Delicious rotisserie and I actually like their chile. Service: family owned in Ned, the folks here are wonderful. We came here once a week before we relocated to Ned! Ambiance: friends and lounge space. Great bar and good entertainment

Great service, great food. Gorgeous atmosphere, nice flowers and views on the patio day. We had the rotisserie chicken, duck fat fries, garlic fries, summer salad & fried chicken sandwich

Love this place! Food is made to order and tasty! My son and I enjoyed an afternoon snack and I had a Stem Cider. We will be back soon for lunch. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked wonderful. Pricing is very reasonable. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is on point. Location can't be beat! *note, we dined here in September 2025*

Bangin'...run, don't walk to this chicken shack. We split a spicy chix sando, some fries and a couple drafts. Just what the afternoon called for. Nice that it's down the road a touch, wasn't as chaotic as it can get outside the other places up the street

Do not order the rot chicken sandwich, expensive and toilet paper would taste better. Long wait, the cashier rude. Not worthy.

Nederland is a cool mountain and Busey's is an institution here in Ned, and it's easy to see why! The creekside location and Mountain View's are spectacular. Really nice craft beer selection and a good menu that's built around some pretty tasty barbecue! I loved that I could add giardiniera to my sandwich . . . Perfection! To note, I've only ever been here for lunch, never dinner until last night. We drove over from Boulder to have kombucha and awesome BBQ, like we have in the past. When we arrived for dinner, there was a DJ and trivia going on inside, so we decided to sit outside on the front porch and it was beautiful out! Perfect weather. Our first disappointment started with the service. One thing I enjoy about going out is being waited on and customer service but the hostess said I had to scan the QR code and order my own food and pay the bill from my phone, the server just brings out the items as they're ordered. I've enjoyed interacting with staff and Kyle in the past and I'm very social, so I was not happy about missing out on the customer service experience. We ordered the kombucha, which hasn't changed and was delicious as always. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of cole slaw and cornbread and my husband ordered the Smoked Beef Dip with a side of cole slaw. Both of our sandwiches were lacking meat, it was mostly bread. And my sandwich was very dry; I added sauce but the sauce outside on our table was very soupy (not sure if that's normal or if the consistency changed from the temperature outside). After tax and tip for 2 kombuchas and 2 sandwiches, our bill was $67. Overall, I was really disappointed by my dinner experience. Total bummer.

If you're history buff, I encourage you to read about the history of each of the train cars on their website. Though the business has only been around for a few years, one of the cars was built in 1906, and all of them have a unique story to their name. As far as the shop is concerned, it's a standard cafe with coffee, tea, and breakfast food options. With the addition of kava if that's your jam. The best part of this place is checking out the various train cars, all different with various types of seating options. We ordered coffees, sandwiches, and their self-proclaimed "world famous" mini donuts. The sandwiches came out piping hot. I was actually impressed with the bacon egg and cheese. Generous serving of egg, especially. Much better than the bagel spot around the corner! The donuts were good, but you really need to eat them right away while they're hot. Nice addition of the maple bacon, and solid portion to split between a few people. Considering a few places I enjoyed going to in Nederland have changed concepts, I definitely prefer coming to Train Cars Coffee and Kava. Looking forward to trying them again and seeing more of what they offer!

The only thing I didn't like as much was the hashbrowns, they were just okay. I also ordered the jalapeño bread French toast (recommended by our server). I love jalapeño flavor, but I remember thinking it sounded kind of weird for French toast... but I'm glad I tried it because it was so good. They make their breads in-house and I would definitely get that again. I also tried some of my friend's banana bread and that was really delicious too. Didn't get a chance to try these since we had to get to the hot springs soon so thought it's too much food to finish in time, but they had a French toast flight and a Benedict flight, which I've never seen before. The Reuben was outstanding--perfectly grilled with a crispy rye, flavorful corned beef, and just the right balance of Swiss, sauerkraut, and dressing. The green chili soup was rich, comforting, and packed with great Colorado flavor. My wife built her own burger and upgraded to the house salad instead of fries. This was my 3rd or 4th time going. Clearly, I am a slow learner, and forgave the experience but this was the last straw. The service is ALWAYS terrible and the food is even worse. I have ordered a different dish every time and everyone them was either cold (left on the cooks counter for the waiter too long) or bland or just plain bad! Last night I ordered tacos. It took forever to even get service, or our food, and there was 6 customers in the whole place. The food came cold but before I knew it was cold, I asked for salsa (it came with none) and took forever to come back. The moment they left for salsa, I took a bite and realized the food was cold (all of it, beans, rice, tacos). I had to go search for them to come back and told them it was cold. They had it remade (took forever) and they salsa was literally stewed tomatoes from the can. This time, the plate was scalding hot and the waitress gave no warning! Now, it was hot and terrible with canned tomatoes for salsa. Ridiculous and they still charged us! I will go to Johnny Z's but will not ever again eat at the Grill!
