The ones we had been to in the past usually allows you to also pick different type of cooking style or seasoning but this place only cooks it their way. It's good for people who are indecisive but disappointing for people who want variety of flavor. They usually have a section of appetizers and drinks you can order on a separate menu as well. The staffs were very low energies when we visited on a weekend night. The overall ambiance and interaction made us feel a little uncomfortable. We ordered: - eggplant dip - fries - Greek salad (large) - cooked fish - calamari - octopus Honestly I was so disappointed with the food. It didn't taste as fresh and was overall too salty. The eggplant dip had a weird taste. Friend fries were not as crispy and unevenly distributed portions of salt. The calamari was nothing special. The fish was okay, and the octopus was so salty we actually sent back the dish. It was very difficult to enjoy it. The staff was so accommodating and actually took the dish off our bill. (Thank you!! - great customer service!). My favorite item was probably the Greek salad, but then again it's hard to mess up a salad. I would say this is my least favorite counter order style seafood restaurant in Astoria. My friend said great things about it prior to my visit and I really wish I would have liked it.

Upon arrival you're greeted with a small, no-frills restaurant that moves people in and out relatively efficiently. You start the process by moving to the front and picking out the fresh fish you'd like for your meal. The gentlemen up front will then weigh it out and ask you how you'd like it prepared. My group ended up grabbing calamari, octopus tentacles, scallops, and a whole fish. We also ordered some baba ghanoush and eggplant with tomato on the side. The scallops and octopus, both of which we ordered grilled, came out first and were excellent! The scallops were soft and buttery with great texture and flavor. The octopus was the star of the show with an excellent bite and texture and great flavor from the olive oil and garlic coating it. Our order of fried calamari was also super tasty. It seems like they sprinked a special spice blend over it to give it some extra kick. Our last fish course was a whole fish served Egyptian style with blackened seasoning. The skin of the fish was amazing. It had a citrusy/salty flavor that was followed by the freshness of the herbs stuffed inside the fish. Our sides were also great with the baba ghanoush being my favorite dip. I give Abuqir top marks for their food and service. The cooks were very helpful in assisting us with making our fish selections and everything was cooked to perfection. If you're looking for a nice seafood meal with a group of friends come give this spot a visit!

My relatives regularly drive way out of their way to pick up food here to serve guests. That kind of effort only happens when the food is worth it. I haven't dined in and I've only eaten from here through visiting family, but the seafood here is consistently very good. Some great options are the grilled octopus, grilled calamari, grilled shrimp, and branzini cooked mediterranean style.

But tucked away on 34th Street, Off the Hook Raw Bar & Grill proves that some things are worth it. Years later, the truth remains unchanged: this sanctuary delivers a masterclass in cozy warmth and absolute culinary respect. The lobster mac and cheese is a decadent triumph--rich and loaded. But the real revelation is the skirt steak. It carries a deeply seasoned, char-grilled crust that locks in a perfect, juicy interior. It is, without exaggeration, one of the the best damn skirt steaks you will ever encounter in this city. Decor (4.25/5): It's a small, intimate room that hits you with a cozy, effortlessly cool vibe. It also has the small outdoor patio tucked away in the back--a perfect, low-lit refuge for a summer night in Queens. Customer Service (4.5/5): The staff is exceptional. They are welcoming, professional, and move with a hospitality that keeps the room's energy completely relaxed. Food Rating (5/5): Flawless execution. The atmosphere is effortlessly comfortable -- the kind of place where you just know everything coming out of the kitchen will be fresh. And it was. We started with an assortment of traditional spreads: taramosalata, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, skordalia, and melitzanosalata, all served with warm, pillowy pita. Each one was vibrant and flavorful -- perfect for sharing (or not). Then came the feast: marinated and grilled squid, swordfish steak, red snapper, lamb chops, crispy potatoes, and more sides than we could reasonably justify ordering... but absolutely did anyway. Our waiter thoughtfully asked if we had any allergies. By the end of the meal -- slightly comatose, blissfully full, and having completely lost track of time -- we realized the only thing we might be allergic to is work. Bahari isn't just lunch -- it's an escape.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.
