We were in Winter Park for the afternoon and looking for a good, affordable lunch. I'd heard about Bricks & Bowls before (as well as the Ghost Kitchen concept), so we decided to give it a try. I was immediately drawn to the Ghost Pepper Chicken sandwich. I noticed they offered a Boxed Lunch combo that included a half-brick focaccia sandwich, a choice of side, chips, and a cookie. Under the Soups & Sides section of the menu, I saw soups, salads, fruit, chips, and bread listed, so I asked if I could get the Kale Caesar Salad as my side. I was told it wasn't considered a side. That struck me as a little odd since it was listed under "Soups & Sides," but I didn't press the issue and instead ordered the sandwich and salad separately. I do wish there had been a sandwich-and-salad combo option, especially since it's Florida and 100 degrees outside--hot soup wasn't exactly calling my name that day! The Ghost Pepper Chicken sandwich was a bit dry, and I didn't notice much Swiss cheese or enough ghost pepper bang sauce to add much heat or moisture. On the plus side, the focaccia bread was fantastic, and the sandwich was piled high with sliced chicken. Even the half-brick size was plenty filling. The Kale Caesar Salad was much smaller than expected and, ironically, seemed like it would have fit perfectly as a combo side. It also contained more romaine than kale, with just a sprinkling of baby kale on top. The Caesar dressing, however, was excellent--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. At $6 for a small bowl, I was hoping for a little more substance. I also treated myself to the Belgian Chocolate Salted Caramel Cookie that would have come with the Boxed Lunch combo, and it was outstanding. Soft, gooey, and packed with flavor. Bricks & Bowls has a pleasant outdoor seating area in a courtyard setting, with tables shaded by large umbrellas. Just keep in mind that there is no indoor seating, and even with the shade, it can be pretty warm during a Florida summer. Overall, it was a decent first experience with some highlights and a few disappointments. The food had some strong points, particularly the focaccia bread, dressing, and cookie, but at around $20 for a quick-service lunch, I left feeling that the value didn't quite match the price. read more

Great lunch counter with a ton of different options. All seating seems to be outside, but there was plenty that was covered and it was a really lovely, comfortable space just off of the hustle and bustle of Park Ave. We got a half brick and a salad, a little on the expensive side, but the food came out incredibly quickly and seemed fresh. The focaccia bread was great and we really loved the peppercorn caeser dressing that came with the salad. My sandwich did not have tomato listed, but did come with tomato on it which was a concern because I'm allergic, but I was able to pull it off. Could have been more of an issue for a different patron, though! The guys behind the counter were very efficient and friendly, but didn't know what was in one of the sauces, which was again a concern for me with a tomato allergy. I went for lunch as it was walking distance from my office. When I arrived, I was greeted and I ordered a build your own bowl (12 dollars) with spinach as the greens, orzo and rice as the base, chicken as the protein (extra 2.50), olives, feta, picked onions, and other toppings. I also was given a dressing option, so I chose Mediterranean herb vinaigrette. My ordered was prepared in front of me. When I got my order, I went outside to a table. The portion looked generous. The items are fresh, but I poured all of the dressing, making it quite acidic and balsamic flavored. It was still enjoyable and filling. The chicken was a bit dry and could have been seasoned more. At least the toppings and bases helped. I was able to save some leftovers home too. The service was pretty good and patient. The attendant told me all my choices and each step as well. I was able to get a bag when requested. The seating was all outdoors, but covered. There is a small step when entering/exiting the restaurant, so please watch it. There were an ample amount of tables. I wished there was a small fountain outside to add the upscale Winter Park charm. For a counter service restaurant, I thought the bowl to be a bit expensive for a little over 16 dollars after taxes and tips. However, the quality of items were pretty good and the bowl was pretty filling. Next time, I will just drizzle the dressing than pouring it all in. This place is awful. The food is great, but the service and problem solving are horrendous. I placed an order via Uber Eats from advent health. The Caesar bowl did not have the dressing my wife ordered. I immediately called to tell them about it, and the guy said there is nothing they can do to help and that I had to call Uber Eats. This is obviously the restaurants fault because everything was prepackaged. I'm in the hospital right now, and it's not easy to order food in to being with. We've driven past this place a half dozen times and thought it was a pottery place. Decided to check it out today and found not pottery, but a super delicious sandwich spot! It's all outdoor seating in an honestly beautiful courtyard you wouldn't expect to find right on Park Ave. The tables are all covered with umbrellas and there are misters scattered throughout to keep you cool. It would be a great spot to work or study over lunch. We both got the lunchboxes w/ the half sandwich. The boxes come with a sandwich, chips, side (pasta salad, potato salad, or fruit), and a warm cookie. The "bricks" are sandwiches on yummy, soft, flavorful focaccia. My husband had the buffalo crackin chicken w/ a side of potato salad, and I had their seasonal smashed meatball sub w/ the pasta salad. We also got a Classico pizza (also on focaccia) for the kids. Everything was really really delicious. Really delicious. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because $15/entree for a fast casual spot is steep. I get it's Park Ave but gah. I ordered and paid at their kiosk and waited a short time until my order was ready. I have eaten at the location at the Crosby Center on Mizell Drive several times and LOVE the Focacia sandwiches..It is my favorite lunch place now.........HOWEVER...went once to bricks and bowls on Park Avenue ...bad....I ordered their Focaccia pizza it was nothing but a big hunk of hard bread with a very stingy amount something else, cheese and something..on top...was not worth eating.............and then He rung us up and added $6.00 to the bill for no reason whatsoever ..The kid said "We just do that for the chicken sandwich . Menu said it was $8.95. (I think) and then added $6 to it. ....It was a $6 sandwich at best in the first place, they ring up $895 plus $6 an say nothing unless you look at the bill!.....Seinfeld Episode! ........The kid was really nice though. I've had the opportunity to try food from Bricks & Bowls a few times in a couple different capacities--a catered meal and takeout/delivery. The food has been great every time. My latest meal from there was their boxed lunch combo. I had their seasonal Thanksgiving sandwich as the main component of the boxed lunch. It was fantastic--everything I love about Thanksgiving dinner sandwiched between two pieces of fluffy, flavorful focaccia. I would gladly order that again and again. I also had the seasonal pumpkin spice cookie in the box. It was a crispy cookie and I'm more of a soft, chewy cookie person, but the flavor was still good. On other visits, I've tried their sunrise egg bites (tasty), chicken caesar bowl (delish), and Belgian chocolate salted caramel cookies (addictive). The salad was loaded with all kinds of tasty items like mixed greens, carrots, marinated chick peas, cucumbers, red onion,and tomatoes. Ask for their southwest dressing, its got a great chipotle flavor. The outdoor seating area is really nice especially at night when the patio is all lit up. Really loved my experience at Bricks and Bowls Winter Park! I tried the Big Buddha Bowl and on a separate occasion the carne asada Bowl as take out - both were SO FRESH and SO DELICIOUS! The portion size is very large and filling. I loved the Buddha bowl didn't have meat but all of the flavors more than compensated for it - I think you can add protein if you desire it but I thought it was amazing as it comes. I can't comment on the service as I didn't interact with the staff although it seemed clean enough, trash cans were overflowing outside though. I also found it difficult to find any water and had to order a bottle of water, there may be some but I just didn't see it as an option. I don't usually walk this far down Park Ave, so it was a surprise when I stumbled upon a restaurant that sells foccacia, salads and more. When entering in the establishment, you are immediately met with a layout similar to Cava, but they offer quite a few other options. Unorganized slow mess. Went here with my family and ordered a sandwich. First they made my sandwich incorrect so I brought it back inside. It was a cold sandwich so I figured they would finish it asap and get it back out to me so I could eat with my family (PS the only thing on this sandwich was chicken and bacon but I guess that's too hard). 20 MINUTES later when my family was finished with all their food it came out WRONG AGAIN. The table next to us ordered a flatbread and they messed their order up 3 TIMES. There is a window that shows the people back in the kitchen preparing the food and the main handler of the food WAS NOT WEARING GLOVES and handling all the sandwiches.
