If you have a hankering for a grilled cheese, this place has you covered! I don't know how long this has been here, but I can't believe I didn't know it existed! The only thing I would have liked to see added was an apple slice or jam on my sandwich. I just love fruit with brie, but that's my personal preference. Grilled Cheezus is located in downtown Orlando's Mills 50 District. My husband and I found it extremely difficult to locate as it's a small establishment that blends in with the businesses flanking it on either side. Finding parking was also not easy. Once inside, it was very quiet (we were the only customers and there's no ambient noise or music playing). It was our first time, so we didn't really know what to do as no staff are up at the front station. I finally noticed a sign that instructed you to place your order and pay using an electronic kiosk, but my husband couldn't decide what he wanted and really wanted to ask a staff member's opinion, so he peaked behind the counter to see if a staff member could oblige. Luckily, the staff member did but still steered us back to the kiosk in regards to options for toppings, etc. They did bring out the food when it was ready, so we had a smidge more human contact. The sandwiches were pretty good. My husband ordered the Yo Adrian and I got the Tom Cruise. They automatically come with a small side of tomato soup for dipping (which was just average tasting), so my husband upgraded his side to macaroni and cheese. It was too rich tasting for us (and I love all things cheesy) and difficult to eat (maybe there was too much cheese? Again, I can't believe I'm thinking that). The restaurant has cute décor with art of every great named sandwich like the Chuck Norris, the Pope, and many more. You self-order at the kiosk at the front and it is easy to customize your order if you want to change anything. Our order came out quickly and was nice and hot. My husband got a green tea to drink and I got a Dr. Pepper. We split a Chuck Norris and a Gimme S'more for dessert. The Chuck Norris was very cheesy and the onions gave it great flavor. We both agree that the star of the meal was the s'mores dessert. I just wish that it had more filling and I prefer the traditional butters, crispy bread to the waffle pressed sandwich. This place looked great and sounded like it was going to be an amazing spot. Upon arrival, the restaurant had an awful smell.....a combination of burnt bread and wet moldy mop. Already, My family's and my appetite were dimmed down by the smell. We still ordered 6 sandwiches with the tomato bisque because they looked like they would be incredible. We sat down and waited, I watched as the worker in the kitchen slowly...and I mean slowly did everything. First, its easy to miss this place. This section of Mills 50 is kind of non descript storefronts. It's just the character of this section. Stop, walk on in, and order grilled cheese stat! It is a tiny place. Order window, four small tables. Bathrooms in the back. So plan on taking out most of the time. It's worth it... The owners are super cool. We chatted a bit. Place just opened in spring of 2022. They are feeling everything out. Hopefully word of mouth gets out and this place explodes with business because they deserve it. It is definitely now on our rotation. My son got the plain grilled cheese which still had 3 different cheeses in it. First, it seems all the bread is sliced ciabatta bread that's grilled to look like a waffle. It's pretty cool and the bread is definitely delicious on its own. The sandwich itself is crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. It is a perfect plain grilled cheese. Each sandwich is served with a small tomato soup "dipper". Or you can upgrade to a full bowl or mac and cheese. My son is the world's expert in mac and cheese and declared "this is really good". He might just get 4 orders of mac and cheese next time we come. So kudos to the chef. I got the Chuck Norris which again was multiple cheeses including blue cheese, roast beef, and horseradish sauce. Again the cheese was excellent and the blue cheese was definitely front and center. The roast beef was decent but didn't appear to be "slow roasted for 47 hours in a wood hearth" quality but amongst the cheese it was perfectly beefy. The one miss I can say is that I didn't taste any horseradish. I should have asked for a dollop on the side. It was very good and I would certainly get it again...after I try almost everything else on the menu which looks delicious. Oh! And I got the tomato dipper which has some cheese on it as well. Really good soup on its own. Like, really good. And dipped with the sandwich? Heaven. So yes. I fully fully fully recommend this place.
