They have a great selection, everything from seasonal (currently Easter) toys, to dress up, stuffed animals, puppets, baby toys, books, board games, tonies, art supplies and so much more! The staff were helpful and friendly but let us roam around with our toddler without feeling rushed or pressured. All of the products appeared to be good quality and we felt good shopping local rather than Amazon. We ended up purchasing a neat little book that tells an audio story. They had others that were my first Bach book, my first Mozart, my first Ballet etc. that were more musical and less story. So much neat stuff, we spent quite a while in the store and I foresee us coming back for future holidays and birthdays.

I wanted something different for the kids in my life, even if I had to spend a little bit more. My first trip to the store, I got acquainted with the layout, and all the wonderful toys and games filling the space. The second visit, I started to narrow my shopping list. Third trip, I purchased items. The staff was there when I needed them, but didn't hover, and let me browse. Heroic Adventures, just like Slackers, is a frequent stop for my friends and I when we are visiting friends in Edwardsville. Just like Slackers, the price of things here tends to be on the 'higher' side of things. But with higher prices come a lot of cool things... They have board games, card games, collectible/trading card games, comics, graphic novels, figures, and the list goes on and on. Almost anyone who has the smallest sliver of geekiness in them will find something here they want to buy. One of my friends always drools over they figure section. I always browse the board games, DBZ stuff and Magic: the Gathering sections. We typically spend 30 minutes looking around before we finally leave and one of us bought something. It is a great companion store to Slackers.. Whereas Slackers is heavy on games, this place is heavy on everything else.

The approach is through what you might think of as a small "warehouse district" in Maryville. You park, walk through the front entry, and find a model train hobby shop on the right. The operation is "cash only," and looked like the hobby shop I remember from my hometown. Just beyond the store area is the doorway to a very large room in which a large model train layout has been constructed (dimensions are 60' by 70', according to the website). There's a little cash donation box, if you're motivated to contribute to the cause, which I was. But no one put any pressure on me to donate. It being the Saturday afternoon before New Years Day, the place was pleasantly crowded with mainly men and boys running the trains. We met up with a regular named "Jack," who gave us the history. We spent about 30 minutes watching the action. But if you were fortunate to control a train, considering buying one, or even dreaming about constructing your own layout, then I imagine you might want to stay a long time. I've never seen so many train tracks together...ever! This is also a store where you can actually buy trains and everything you need to go with it! This is like a professional train persons store; like seriously...serious train person! It's actually quite extraordinary and I'm not a train person. I ordered 6 towels may 26th for the towel sale, $26 total. I only received 2 towels and never…read morereceived the other 4. When I called they said they were out of stock but would refund me for my full order (because who wants 2 towels that don't match the rest?) had to call again today to be told I will still be charged for those 2 towels AND the shipping and there is nothing I can do about it. After 45 minutes on the phone they gave me $10 kohls cash. To say this has been disappointing is an understatement.
