Weather during our holiday break was dreary gray. But road conditions were good, so we looked for…read morenew experiences. K-10 Model Trains was at the top of our "to try" list. The approach is through what you might think of as a small "warehouse district" in Maryville. You park, walk through the front entry, and find a model train hobby shop on the right. The operation is "cash only," and looked like the hobby shop I remember from my hometown. Just beyond the store area is the doorway to a very large room in which a large model train layout has been constructed (dimensions are 60' by 70', according to the website). There's a little cash donation box, if you're motivated to contribute to the cause, which I was. But no one put any pressure on me to donate. It being the Saturday afternoon before New Years Day, the place was pleasantly crowded with mainly men and boys running the trains. We met up with a regular named "Jack," who gave us the history. We spent about 30 minutes watching the action. But if you were fortunate to control a train, considering buying one, or even dreaming about constructing your own layout, then I imagine you might want to stay a long time. This is like a professional train persons store; like seriously...serious train person! It's actually quite extraordinary and I'm not a train person. They have built up a high level stage that looks out over all the trains. I think on certain nights everyone gets together and runs all the trains. I would love to come back and see that! This store was very crowded and too much inventory being moved around during business hrs in my opinion. Every direction was a new bed of items being pushed in your direction. My shopping experience was pretty much dodging the inventory staff and moving out the way. This store needs and overnight inventory shift . The positive of this is at least the product is coming in at this location. Others stores I have been too shelves are bare!!! Guess with that being said I'll shut up and be more appreciative of workers and inventory :)

They have some really nice home decor items and the displays make you want to buy one of everything. I purchased wall plug in refills from their home collection, and the scents smell amazing. I'm disappointed that their refills cartridges aren't universal so i can use them with my other plug bin. So i have to either buy Walmart's plug in or just use the oil in my oil burner. The workers were friendly. I didn't like that they were restocking or moving product around during busy store hours and on a Saturday. They should wait until later in the day to move product around and restock.

Mom's and dad's got to check this place out when they are decorating and planning the nursery. OMG!, the furniture here is so cute. Actually, I would be in amazement if someone went into a Home Goods store and walked out with nothing. I think I've only been able to accomplish that once. I can always find some little trinket for the current holiday, a new pot for the kitchen or some new scoop bags for walking the dogs.
