Heroic Adventures, just like Slackers, is a frequent stop for my friends and I when we are visiting friends in Edwardsville. Just like Slackers, the price of things here tends to be on the 'higher' side of things. But with higher prices come a lot of cool things... They have board games, card games, collectible/trading card games, comics, graphic novels, figures, and the list goes on and on. Almost anyone who has the smallest sliver of geekiness in them will find something here they want to buy. One of my friends always drools over they figure section. I always browse the board games, DBZ stuff and Magic: the Gathering sections. We typically spend 30 minutes looking around before we finally leave and one of us bought something. It is a great companion store to Slackers.. Whereas Slackers is heavy on games, this place is heavy on everything else.

They had a large selection of both current and past sets, a huge display of Lego mini figures and 2 bug areas for bulk Lego pieces. I took my son and daughter up there to shop and the owner spent a lot of time time walking us through the store sections and showing us what was available. I browsed the Certified section of pre-owned Star Wars sets and left with some really well priced and desirable Clone Wars Jedi Star Fighter sets that were complete in box and very well priced. The entire staff was friendly and helpful and even helped me with a few trade-ins on some of my old sets. I will be back and I highly recommend you shop here for all your Lego needs.​

The approach is through what you might think of as a small "warehouse district" in Maryville. You park, walk through the front entry, and find a model train hobby shop on the right. The operation is "cash only," and looked like the hobby shop I remember from my hometown. Just beyond the store area is the doorway to a very large room in which a large model train layout has been constructed (dimensions are 60' by 70', according to the website). There's a little cash donation box, if you're motivated to contribute to the cause, which I was. But no one put any pressure on me to donate. It being the Saturday afternoon before New Years Day, the place was pleasantly crowded with mainly men and boys running the trains. We met up with a regular named "Jack," who gave us the history. We spent about 30 minutes watching the action. But if you were fortunate to control a train, considering buying one, or even dreaming about constructing your own layout, then I imagine you might want to stay a long time. They have some really nice home decor items and the displays make you want to buy one of everything. I purchased wall plug in refills from their home collection, and the scents smell amazing. I'm disappointed that their refills cartridges aren't universal so i can use them with my other plug bin. So i have to either buy Walmart's plug in or just use the oil in my oil burner. The workers were friendly. I didn't like that they were restocking or moving product around during busy store hours and on a Saturday. They should wait until later in the day to move product around and restock.

Mom's and dad's got to check this place out when they are decorating and planning the nursery. OMG!, the furniture here is so cute. When I called they said they were out of stock but would refund me for my full order (because who wants 2 towels that don't match the rest?) had to call again today to be told I will still be charged for those 2 towels AND the shipping and there is nothing I can do about it. After 45 minutes on the phone they gave me $10 kohls cash. To say this has been disappointing is an understatement.
