We've - salmon gravlax - tacos - two kinds of house red The salmon is good, and the taco has the braised tenderloin, which is tender and delicious. The Wente Cab is excellent: even the fly likes it too. We pass by this restaurant all the time: it's the first one on Main St from the Opera house. The elegant restaurant to the right has a bar, too. After the Miami Open rained out for us the other day, we arrived to find a lone customer at the bar. I went in and asked for the tennis channel, but the bartender replied, "he just asked for March Madness." Reportedly, they installed the TV a month ago. We love trying new places before we go to the theater and last night we decided to try Element on Main Street downtown Sarasota. The place should be called Elegant! Find dining at its best at quite a reasonable price. Our server, Josh, took extra care to make sure that everything was timed perfectly. The food was outstanding in presentation and in flavor. The vibe of the place was just perfect. Pretty bar and private party room. Ambient music playing in the background that was just at a level that you could hear yet talk to your Table mates. Sat outside for HH on 11/8. The HH Manhattan was very good. The HH Cosmo had too much lime in it. The bread and butter serving was incredible. The deviled eggs and the entree Steak Toast were delicious, very creative servings. This is one of our favorite places and we will be back. read more

Elements has this dish called Pepper Filet Medallions that you can cut with a fork. Really delicious and best filet we have had in Sarasota, FL. June 10, 2023 - 2 for dinner before Florida Studio Theatre (FST) on a Friday night. I am having trouble remembering my last 1 star review and had to look up the seven (7) in my entire review 'history' on Yelp since 2008. Only 2 were restaurants?? We had a reservation but were initially given a seat literally right by the front door by the front reception 'desk'. I asked to be moved and we were put outside at a nicer table, although a bit humid for my liking. Service was very good our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and he communicated all menu questions and composition accurately and helpfully. We did not want to eat too heavily before the show and I must admit were a little surprised by the entrée pricing and other pricing? I am a 16 year NY'er living on Long Island and working in Manhattan (my offices on Park Ave and later Madison Ave) I was accustom to some lofty overpriced stuff......but here in Sarasota, I would not have expected a lot of clientele could support this level of economy? Having never been here we did want to go too crazy with a bunch of $$$ entrée?? My wife got two premium martinis for over 30 beans and I got a 00 Stella Artois beer. So we decided to split an "element Caesar salad" as an appetizer. $13 It was very nice with plenty of tasty greenery, nice croutons, and a rich and flavorful dressing. 8/10 I got a Compressed Watermelon Salad w/o (NO) Feta, shaved serrano chilies, red onion, pickled watermelon rinds, pea tendrils, yuzu infused olive oil & smoked salt. $17 This came with a wonderful watermelon, some very nice greens, a few onions and a little collection of hot pepper slices. A very interesting salad that I had as my main entrée. My wife had some of this as we usually sample each others entrée, etc, etc. for feedback. I liked this dish a LOT. 9/10 My wife went for the Fresh Fish of the Day which was a grouper. This was a $62 entrée and we have had (and my wife has cooked fantastically) many times, especially in Florida. Reported to be coming with roasted/grilled vegetables and fennel. It did have some 'cool' overcooked vegetables and no fennel. The fish was a fairly large filet, but it was not only significantly overcooked and tough/rubbery, but not even hot when it arrived. My picture was AFTER the one bite my wife had taken. Very sad, unacceptable. 2/10 Our waiter did seem to disappear for a bit inside the restaurant with other tables we suspected, but a gentleman did come by to ask how our meal was. To which I replied "do you really want to know?" Looking at my empty plate and then my wife's virtually untouched dish. He replied "yes". My wife reported the fish was cool, tough, and overcooked/rubbery. As if it was microwaved, etc, etc. To which he replied "the restaurant does not have a microwave?" He said he was sorry we she did not like it and did we want something else? And we replied that we had not planned on multiple 'courses' and wanted to dine together and had to get to the theater? So no thank you. He left. Our plates were cleared and the waiter came back to ask if we wanted dessert. We mentioned out dialog with the maître d' or whomever from the reception desk and we of course declined dessert. I paid the $164 bill with tip and taxes. There was no adjustment or offer to remedy. With tax, tip and entrée cost, this was a weighted 48% of the total bill not eaten and unacceptable. NOT SMART folks, don't ask if you aren't prepared for the feedback and have empowered your staff or personnel to resolve. I have been travelling for over 40 years globally and have almost 2,800 nights with Marriott brands. My wife is an exceptional gourmet cook and makes some of the best fish for decades!!! Salmon, grouper, striped bass, tuna, etc etc you will ever eat!!! A very disappointing and expensive dining experience with very poor customer service or satisfaction skills. I have already shared my experience with multiple friends in the Osprey, Nokomis, Venice, and Sarasota areas in the 8 days it took me to finally pen this review. Element promises but under delivers! I have to say that the restaurant is super nice and service was great. Timothy our waiter was always nice and very efficient. He recommended that we try the seafood chowder and I have to say that it was probably the best thing we ate aside from the dessert. He also recommended I try the Iberico pork chop with mole sauce and asked what temperature I would like to get the chop to which he said medium would be as the chef wants it to come out... I said perfect. Here the kitchen dropped the ball, pork chop was dry, overcooked and the sauce was tasteless. Yellowfin tuna was a little under seasoned and that comes on top of the Orzotto (orzo risotto) with wild mushrooms and again... Under Seasoned!!! What a disappointment. I truly wanted to like this place but the kitchen was not what we expected. There are some good places in this area... next time I will skip element and go somewhere else. read more

Element really stood out to me with the gorgeous ambiance and pretty surroundings. I will say it caught my eye. The waitress was extremely attentive and very accommodating. Was honest about the dishes and helped us decide good starters choices. I will say the appetizers were spectacular. - Foie Gras was delicious and highly enjoyed by my parents (I didn't try because personally don't enjoy foie gras) (was rated a 5/5) - Shrimps were perfectly cooked and the sauce on the grits were a wonderful combination. You could tell the sauce was made from scratch (4.5/5) - Caesar salad was ok, there was nothing special to it and the unusual addition of tomatoes were bitter. (2/5) Sad to say that the main entrees were not nearly the quality of the appetizers. I ordered the NY strip cooked medium, the steak was delicious and cooked to my perfect desire (5/5). All steaks come a la carte (pretty typical for high end restaurants) , I still wanted to try a side so I went with the Lobster Mac and Cheese. In my opinion, the Lobster Mac was overpriced at $27. The noodles were cooked al dente, and the lobster was fine, panko was a nice touch but aside from that the noodles were DRENCHED in oil and it hurt my stomach (2/5) . Onto my familys food, they ordered pumpkin gnocchi, cheeseburger, and beef ragu pasta. Everybody had the same issue with the oil, it was like the food was swimming in the grease. It was honestly really unexpected and slightly disappointing when you pay higher prices and have higher expectations. It was time to start spreading our wings and find some "new" restaurants rather than the same old/same old we've been doing for several years. What better way than an 89th birthday! From the moment that we walked in my mother was treated like a rock star - they used her name, and even seated us at the Chef's table, where a subtle knock on what looked like a piece of wooden artwork attached to the wall would open and reveal the kitchen. The ambiance inside was beautiful - moving murals of rain and candle light throughout set the tone. But it was the food that was the star! I had the tuna special that evening with a seared burnt pepper crust and a pineapple reduction. While there was some ginger on the plate, the delicious taste of the tuna wasn't hidden by the usual accompaniments. Our other appetizer - the table side flambé Greek cheese was to die for, and disappeared quite quickly. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, had a wonderful taste, and melted in our mouth, beating Ruths' Chris and Capitol Grille in that category. Drinks were great as well - love it when a restaurant has large ice cubes for my bourbon (and they have a great collection of bourbon!!). Lastly, our server was wonderful - when I requested a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc - looking for citrus/grass flavor, he knew exactly what to bring. Thanks Element - we'll definitely be back. For my first time here this was a terrible experience. For One their way overpriced for the quality of their food. Two when I walked in I was late due to finding parking very far away, as I looked over their menu I wanted to try the Saganaki as a starter and the waitress was kind of rude telling me if I ordered that it would hold up everyones food, I'll get back to that later. It took SO long to get the food, the waitress was never there, I had one drink because she never came back to ask how our food was or did we want anything else just making excuses that she was so busy with other tables, the water boy did his job though we had plenty of water lol. The lobster Mac was gross and this was $27. I hate breadcrumbs on top and the consistency of the cheese was way too loose for the type of noodles they chose. The scallops were tough, and 3 for $57 they should have been soft as butter also the presentation was ugly. The ambiance was very nice. My friend ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp on a skewer and it was so hard she couldn't even get it off the stick, I love to cook and those were way over cooked! No one was very excited about the food nor the terrible service we got. I was actually very upset. I go to nice places all the time and to be honest this should have been completely comped because our waitress told us to "get the F#%* out of here". Why should I have to pay for someone to treat us like that? This was a party. I will also say the "birthday" dessert they brought my friend was so hard she couldn't even get it out of the skillet dish. Now getting back to some things. As I was observing how the other tables who had different waiting staff were being treated, the table right next to us got their food and the same saganaki I ordered all at the same time. Their food looked amazing and they didn't wait nearly as long as we did. We were also told that if we weren't happy with the food they couldn't take it back. So unfortunately I was very disappointed and unimpressed. I actually walked out to get cash out of my car bc I refused to pay the automatic 20% tip that the waitress did not deserve. I can't believe management couldn't have handled this better, basically after my friend complained all we were told was sorry maybe they helped her after, but I still had to pay full price for a terrible experience. Not cool!! I only ate the food bc I was STARVING bc they took soooo long to bring it out and I hadn't eaten since breakfast bc I worked all day with no break and I didn't want to wait any longer. I literally ordered my son DoorDash while I was sitting there waiting for the food and his food was delivered before ours ever got to the table!! Ridiculous. I rarely update a review, but after a sensational experience I felt that it was necessary. Let's start with the shrimp cocktail that we shared with the other couple who joined us. The sauce was the best I'd had in quite a while. If you want a sinus clearing experience this is a must. We then decided to split the Surf and Turf Special. The steak was a Tomahawk Rib Eye that we had sliced in the kitchen and it was so tasty Our wives shared the large lobster tail that accompanied the steak. Add some perfectly prepared asparagus spears and a dish of sliced fingerling potatoes and it made for a perfect dinner. Okay, the entre was particularly pricey, but in our opinion well worth the expense. We'll be talking about this meal for a very long time. My experience at Element was phenomenal, I went this past weekend with my best friend on a girls trip and George (i believe his name was, blonde slim gentlemen) provided us with the best experience imaginable. Anything myself and my friend needed he found a way to do, no questions asked and extremely friendly to speak to. We were the only people in the restaurant because it was considerably late and nearing close but he didn't fret a moment and was so pleasant to speak to in between waiting for food and drinks. He even gave us recommendations in the area for good lounges and bars. The music playing was perfect and the ambiance was perfect for our intimate dinner, 10/10 will be going back and hoping to see George again. We had been coming to Element for special occasions for years but stopped around 2022 due to the decline in food quality. Decided to try it again for thanksgiving and were beyond disappointed. Despite a seemingly full wait staff (at least 8 working the patio) even drink orders took forever. The staff appeared exasperated and frustrated but no apologies, clearly no real leadership and no efficiencies in place. Dinner was over 2 hours. Even that would have been OK, but the food was terrible. No chef should have ever sent out the piece of shoe leather of a steak to the table that they did. Muscle was required to cut it. For $83.00, they should be embarrassed. Add to that the thick cut turkey lunchmeat for the thanksgiving dinner at 75.00, again embarrassing. This isn't a Longhorn Steakhouse, this is supposed to be fine dining and that's what they charge for and we certainly didn't get it. We tried, we want to like it but will not be back. read more

We had a very good Chardonnay wine recommended by the waiter (has an aside, it did not rank as well on the vino as another Chardonnay we picked, but it was definitely better) I had the smoked old fashioned which was creative, well done, and tasty. The salads were fresh and tasty, the entree halibut was really exceptional, both in taste and preparation. They must get a high quality halibut from somewhere that's not commonly found. The wreck fish was an unusual menu item that was also very good (not as good as the halibut) Desserts were also great Passion fruit key lime pie and the chocolate brownie - top shelf picks We came a couple of years ago, and also right when they open. Another beautiful spot on main st for dinner. Our first time dining at Element. Everything we had was well prepared. We ordered the grilled artichokes for an appetizer... Fantastic. We also ordered them a Caesar salad, skip that next time, lettuce and some shaved Parmesan. We ordered the chopped steak pasta, which was really good and the scallops for entrees. While the scallops were very good, the size of the scallops were disappointing, but I won't hold that again against them. I guess they could have given me less scallops but larger ones . First time I forgot to take pictures! The ambiance was perfect. Colton, our server, was excellent. My hubby ordered old fashion and it's brought out like in a glass lantern box so you can capture the smoke coming out as the door is opened. Delicious drinks. And of course the food was wonderful. We ordered wedge salad, clam and corn chowder and entrees were ribeye and New York strip. Sides were mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and broccolini. First of all I do want to say that the food was wonderful here however I'm only rating 3 stars as the service was horrible. We waited for almost 2 hours to receive our meal. Not sure if the waiter was new or over worked but there were so many problems. Drink order was incorrect ( martini served dirty not dry). After notifying staff of nut allergies at the table the appetizer came with nuts. Service was beyond slow and one person ordered a rib eye and they served strip steak that was chewy and tough. We were so hungry at that point we didn't send it back. I would not recommend Element. There are SO many wonderful places to eat downtown ... just not worth going here... the service just doesn't match the menu prices for what you would expect. This is an was a very good experience. The greeter at the door is one of the nicest people you will meet. He showed us to our seat and I Ordered the wagyu steak with initially the parmesan risotto (DISCLAIMER: if you do not like farrow risotto DO NOT ORDER) it was pretty bad to me, it tasted like Parmesan oatmeal. So naturally I sent it back. They brought me mashed potatoes instead which was really good. My Husband had the sword fish which was like butter it was so tasty it came over a bed of chickpeas with the chimichurri type sauce across it. I don't even really like swordfish but that was amazing it was the best we've ever had. The drink menu was really unique. They smoke some of their drinks in this box which smells up the restaurant like smoke wood chips which I really like. Overall this place was amazing I will come back. read more

The service was a disaster from the moment we checked in. Hostess was unorganized, looking for menus and specials. Sat us outside when reservations were for inside with half the tables empty inside. Bread delivered with no plates to serve, absent service for long periods of time. Then we moved inside and wished we had left. The lobster bisque was awful and that was the best part of our meal.
