There was so much leading up to my big day that I couldn't make time for a bridal portrait session, so 4 months later when life finally settled a bit I decided to put my dress back on. Since I wasn't 100% happy with my hair and makeup on my wedding day I decided to try something different for my bridal portraits and I'm so glad I did. Where do I even begin... Jessi Pagel is the most amazing human being i've ever met and made my wedding day so special. Not only is she the best hype woman but she made the day stress free. I had HMU done for 10 people including myself and I had 0 stress. She was very organized leading up to my day and everything was communicated very clearly. She sent me a template for the schedule day off and I was able to fill in my bridesmaids and mom so they knew exactly what time to show up. Everyone was finished on time and we were not late for the ceremony. Not only did everyone look amazing... but everyone's make up lasted the entire night. There was not one bad photo. She really knows how to apply make up to look good in real life AND in pictures. This is so so so important and I cannot thank her enough for the amazing job. We decided on a slicked high ponytail and it did not frizz by the end of the night. You know when you put your hair up in a ponytail and it starts off looking tight and clean and then by the end of the day it kind of falls apart? This wasn't a problem at all! Finally I'd like to say she also flew to California for my wedding and her prices are extremely reasonable. She's an extremely talented HMU artist and had a lot of talented friends to help her. Absolutely do NOT hire Fire Makeup Artistry (Jessi Pagel) to do your hair and makeup for your wedding. I hired her about 6 months before my wedding and she cancelled on me 5 days before the wedding because she got an offer to work that day and get paid more than she'd make by doing my wedding. She tried to set me up with someone else but her portfolio wasn't what I was looking for. So, I said "no thanks" and asked her to refund me the $150 deposit I paid during our trial. It took her 2 months to give me my money back. I constantly tried to get a hold of her: phone calls, emails, facebook messages etc and had to hound her for the money. She kept pushing back the repayment date. Luckily I was able to find someone exceptionally talented through work that came to my rescue and everything turned out amazing despite Jessi's unprofessional handling of the situation. I do not like posting negative reviews about people, but I just thought I should be honest and everyone should know not to hire her to do your wedding hair and makeup unless you are OK with being cancelled on right before your wedding. read more

I hired Jessi for my wedding last week, and she did a beautiful job! I got tons of compliments on my hair and makeup. She was flexible, punctual, and professional. I had originally hired another makeup artist that did not work out, so I didn't contact Jessi until 2 weeks before the wedding. Since I was out of town, and I was working during the week, there was not a lot of time for me to have a trial makeup run. I was able to come the day before my wedding to have my trial done at her apartment, which I subsequently donned at the rehearsal dinner. On the wedding day, there were 4 of us who required hair/makeup or both in 2.5 hours. She arrived early, and she brought an assistant, Meredith, who was also fantastic. She is easy to get a hold of by phone or e-mail, and she was very organized. She also made me the loveliest lip color for touchups. This review is long past due but better late than never. Jessi is hella fantastic! I loved her and her team. Jessi was highly recommended by the owner of the venue where we got married. I took one look at her website and reviews and was sold. She was so easy to communicate with and was top notch on everything. We scheduled a trial run at my house and I was immediately at ease with her. She is awesome, nice, no BS, so professional, and I felt like I could tell her anything. She listened to what I wanted and considered the wedding theme and dress and flowers. She knows what she's doing! And she made me feel more beautiful than I have ever felt.
