I actually had settled on someone but I wasn't 100% sold - since your wedding day is the day you are to look you best I decided to invest in one last search for "the one". So glad I did, because I came across Lucy. I met with Lucy for a trial which was awesome - I got to know her, she got to know me and we clicked. On top of that when she was done with my trial I knew this was the chicka to put the finishing pieces on my wedding day. If you are looking for someone that knows what they are doing, has a passion for beauty and is a wonderful person to have on the most important day in your life - you want Lucy. I was less than two months away from my wedding and had not yet booked a makeup artist. The one I had initially found through Wedding Wire was making me feel uneasy and worried as to whether or not she'd show up on my wedding day (she did not email me contract information for a week past when she told me she would because she'd thrown her back out...how was I supposed to feel confident that she'd be healthy on my big day if she couldn't even send an email??) I was stressing out big time that I hadn't found someone, so I contacted my fabulous wedding coordinator (see my review for Eventful Days - Jill Guiomar), and she recommended Lucy-Zayne. I feel so incredibly grateful to the makeup artist who made me feel uneasy, because if all of that hadn't happened, I never would have found Lucy!! Lucy was quick to respond to my voicemail inquiry, and we set up a makeup trial shortly after the call. The trial went wonderfully, and Lucy was so easy to talk to. She'd asked me for photos before the trial of my dress, my earrings, how I was planning to do my hair, and also examples of makeup styles I was going for. She executed the look I wanted perfectly during the trial, and I had the utmost confidence in her on my wedding day! Her prices were extremely reasonable as well (especially for the Bay Area which can be outrageous). Communication with Lucy was fantastic throughout the weeks leading up to my wedding. She even emailed me to let me know she was going to be out of town for a wedding a little before my wedding, so she might be hard to get a hold of on her travel days. Anyone who has gotten married knows there is nothing like great communication and setting expectations when it comes to wedding vendors! Lucy was one of the best communicators I had among all my vendors. Lucy showed up to the hotel right on time the morning of my wedding. She got two and 1/2 of my bridesmaids (one just got lashes and a little unexpected, but appreciated overall makeup touch up), my mom, our two flower girls and me done with time to spare! Everyone looked beautiful!!! My mom and bridesmaids really enjoyed talking with Lucy while they were in her chair, and they were all really happy with their makeup. Lucy gave everyone touch up makeup kits to take with us so we could keep our makeup looking fabulous throughout the day and night. I can't tell you how many compliments I received throughout my wedding about my makeup, and they keep coming in from people who weren't at the wedding but have seen pictures. No one can tell that I only had around 3 hours of sleep the night before because of Lucy's magic! Lucy was recommended to me for hair by my makeup artist and I am SO glad I listened to her! Lucy was amazing. She is super friendly, and is truly a "people person". I did a trial at her house (first time meeting her) and felt like we had been best friends for years! She makes you feel so comfortable and is easy to chat with. Besides her wonderful interpersonal skills, her work with hair is fantastic! During the trial, Lucy put in my purchased extensions and "played" with my hair until it was to her liking (and mine!) On my wedding day, Lucy showed up on time and ready to go. She did hair for my entire bridal party plus my mom and flower girl (and finished on time!) She did a variety of up-do's, side pony-tails, and half-up, half-down styles. All of my bridesmaid's hair looked great and totally fit their personalities. When it came to my hair, Lucy set my hair early on in the day to make sure my curls lasted. She also did my hair last so that I would be the freshest for my big day. She put in my decorative comb and veil as well. When I thought the veil was too high, she listened and repositioned for me. What's great about Lucy is that she truly wants you to be happy and she listens to your comments and makes adjustments as needed. I was searching for a makeup artist for my wedding - I was treating my 5 bridesmaids and my mom and aunt. Quite a tall order!. All the cool and hip people (or so they seemed online) were out of my budget. Then I did a search on Craig's list and found Erin Slater. She had worked for MAC and was really professional over the phone. Her prices were really reasonable as well. She came over to my house for a trial. I figured we would be trying several looks, but the first time I looked in the mirror, my face looked absolutely perfect. Erin "got it" in a big way - and believe me, I'm obsessed with makeup and am a tough sell. Fast forward to my wedding where Erin and Lucy were our makeup artists: my bridesmaids looked beautiful, and my mom and aunt ( who have more "mature" skin) looked really glamorous yet age appropriate at the same time. For my best friend's wedding, as a gift to her I decided to pay for her hair and makeup. She was planning on doing it herself but I am a strong believer in not having to do ur own makeup and hair on ur big day. I had the job of finding a person do it and I saw all the great reviews on yelp and knew I had to contact them. I emailed them and got an email back within an hour. Lucy was my point of contact and I explained to her the situation. From there my friend took over to discuss the style and makeup, but all finances were to go through me. When the time of the trial came, Lucy was such s likable person. She was so sweet and honest. It was easy to talk to her and she suggested a couple of changes that I thought worked well with my friend. Of course she made her more beautiful! Make up was natural but smokey and the hair was simple but elegant. The wedding day was no exception. My friend had a few changes she wanted to make to her hair but Lucy worked with it. They are a bit pricey but it was well worth the price. It's a plus that they are willing to travel and have such nice artists who actually listen and bring out ur natural beauty. I called several makeup artists recommended on Yelp before I decided up Erin and Lucy of Flawless Beauty for my wedding day. I realize that a phone conversation can give no indication of someone's makeup/hair artistry, but the ease and confidence with which Erin answered my questions about her experience working with Asian faces, pricing guidelines, and overall mission statement impressed me. I knew I'd found my girl, and she delivered. Background info- I know nothing about hair and makeup, so I thought FB's prices were expensive and that they took too long, but I was way off. Their makeup prices are right on par with everyone else, but remember- you are paying for TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. Erin and Lucy know what they're doing and you get more than you pay for. Hair prices vary depending on length and style (updo v. down), so there's a wider range. Also, turns out makeup and hair just take a long time. My bridal party of 5 and I were pleased with the final results. Everyone looked gorgeous, were complimented all night, and not a hair fell out of place (FB didn't even use that many bobby pins!). My only complaint was that a wedding attendant jumped in unplanned to have her hair done (which I didn't mind at all), but made me slightly off schedule for pictures. The traffic before the Caldecott Tunnel didn't help either. Bottom line: book Erin and Lucy of Flawless Beauty. You won't regret it. read more

Lucy-Zayne did my makeup and hair for my wedding last year. She was really professional and friendly. My hair turned out beautiful, exactly the way I wanted it. My makeup was pretty nice, though I did get an awful lot of creasing under the eye from the concealer. Overall though, I got tons of compliments on my hair/makeup, and she really did a great job. She also did my mom's hair/makeup. At first, my mom did not like what she was doing with her hair, but after telling her as much, Lucy changed it up and my mom was really happy with it. I did about 2-3 other makeup trials before calling up Lucy, and I'm glad I held out before booking because she was WAY better than everyone else I saw. My initial dealings were with Lucy. I could not have been happier with the makeup and hair work Lucy and Erin did for my girls and me on my wedding day. They were on time, very professional, and made us look amazing. I scheduled a makeup and hair trial for the morning I was going to fly out to Vegas for my bachelorette party. Lucy came to my house at 5:30AM to do my makeup and hair! I told her I needed it to last the whole day, and that it needed to hold up to the massive amount of partying we were going to be doing in Vegas. My makeup & hair withstood the 1.5 hour flight, walking the strip, and 4 nightclubs. Needless to say, I was sold at that point. My makeup and hair was perfect the day of my wedding. It looked natural and photographed beautifully. They were able to do all 8 of my bridesmaids' makeup and hair, 1 flowergirl, plus my mom and me within the time frame given. They even gave me lipstick, lip liner, and a Fix + setting spray to use for touch ups throughout the day with no additional cost. Lucy Zayne did a fantastic job for my wedding! I found her on the Vendor List on Hakone Gardens website (where I had my reception). I figured that she couldn't be that bad since she's being recommended. Still, I checked on Yelp to make sure she had positive reviews....and she did! I left this element of wedding prep late so I had about 3 weeks to look for a makeup and hair artist. I specifically wanted someone who could come to my home and do everything there. After making an initial inquiry, Lucy Zayne was responsive and very friendly, and knowing that I had limited time, was as accommodating as she could be with her schedule. I appreciated that she asked for my opinion and my preferences and did not impose hers on me. I emailed her a couple of different styles I was thinking of in advance before the trial so she can get a feel of what I'm after. I was very impressed after the makeup and hair trial- the make up was light, made my face look absolutely flawless and gave such a soft and feminine touch to my hair as well. As someone who doesn't use make up often, she gave me lots of hints and tips that I could do on my own. She was on time for the wedding (despite another appointment earlier in the morning) and did a fantastic job again. I had a lot of compliments from family and guests. Within a month before my wedding I found out my hair stylist bailed on me and Lucy was recommended to me by my bridal boutique. I could not have gotten a better recommendation. Lucy was so pleasant and easy to work with from our first phone call. On wedding day she arrived right on time and set up her station, she was completely prepared, professional and organized. She went right to work on my bridesmaids and all of their hair turned out just beautiful. Simply said, and it's been said many times on Yelp, Lucy is amazing! She truly goes above and beyond what I ever expected and I couldn't be happier or feel more confident. She worked with me from the beginning to figure out what make-up and hair style I was interested in and what would be suit my wedding (venue, time, month, etc). I felt a little clueless and overwhelmed by all the options I was finding online and Lucy went out of her way to take the ideas I liked and make them into something real. My make-up was exactly what I wanted, it brought out all of my favorite features, was photo-ready, but didn't look heavy or caked-on. I have girlfriends that have gotten married and went with some pretty wild make-up and ended-up not looking like themselves. She color matched my skin perfectly and everything she did really brought out my features. It sounds a little cheesy but I feel like she really made me look like the best version of me - and that's what we want ladies! My hair was just as beautiful. I have really fine hair and Lucy suggested getting clip-in extensions, which I did. Not only did she help me color match but she showed me how to use them myself (for going out or when I want some volume). I love this woman! Lucy is amazing!!! I've got my hair and make up done in the past just a few times for weddings and I never really liked any of it as much as I like Lucy's. She really listens to your needs and adjusts accordingly. I don't wear a lot of make up in my day to day, so when I got my make up done before, it always looked too cakey and too much for me. She does the natural look to perfection and I'm very satisfied with her. She recently did my make up for my e-sess and I got a lot of compliments on my hair and make up. Lucy-Zayne is AMAZING! She's so sweet, professional, great communicator and most of all, she did the best makeup for me and my bridesmaids for my wedding! She asked that I bring photos of the makeup look I wanted, photos of me and my dress, etc. When we met, she was so nice and attentive and really listened to what I wanted. I didn't want to have heavy makeup, but I wanted to look like a glowing bride, which is exactly what she gave me! Once she was done with the trial, she asked if I wanted anything different (darker, lighter, different colors, etc). Everything looked the way I wanted it, so she took notes of what products she used, how she did it, etc. She was wonderful on the day of the wedding! She arrived on time (early in fact), and brought one other woman to assist her since there were 10 of us getting our makeup done. They brought high makeup chairs and went to work! Holy cow - these ladies work fast, work wonders and are super talented! I had about 8 bridesmaids doing hair/makeup, my mom for hair/makeup and 4 flowergirls. That's 13 people with the bride! I was worried about the time schedule, but low and behold, these ladies are so organized that I was finished BEFORE call time. My bridesmaids were so happy with their hair/makeup. I believe there were a couple of last minute changes and the Flawless Beauty team were so accommodating and fast, while also creating beautiful outcomes. My mom had bad experiences in the past with hair/makeup artists, so she was hesitant. She was also afraid of having allergic reactions to the makeup. She was also worried that no makeup would be able to conceal the bags under her eyes. But, no fear! Lucy was smart and suggested my mom try out some new makeup before the wedding to ensure she would not have any allergic reactions. She advised her to bring the makeup (foundation) on the wedding day. It's funny because we went to the makeup counter at Nordstroms and the make-over job Nordstrom's did was not good, so my mom was even more worried about a makeup artist on the day of the wedding. But, on the day of the wedding, it all worked out. Erin knew how to cover up my moms eye wrinkles and made my mom feel comfortable and beautiful. My mom hates things on her eyes, but she agreed to try on mini fake lashes. Needless to say, she loved them! Thanks Erin! I say all this in detail because my mom is hard to please and well, she was more than pleased. I, myself could not have been happier. Lucy-Zayne is always striving to do her best. Even though our trial turned out perfectly, at the wedding she had a couple of different suggestions - minor ones, but I loved the changes. Lucy-Zayne is always careful to ask the bride questions, whether she wants more eyeshadow, blush etc. I had her do a trial and I also had her do my makeup for a wedding I was attending. She was always filled with makeup tips, etc. I also had one of my bridesmaids correspond with Lucy-Zayne for the hair/makeup schedule, given I had so many people in my bridal party. She was so responsive on email and was also accommodating to our requests. Most importantly, they added a great addition to the getting ready portion of our day. Erin and Lucy are so cool to be around. Sam was also great - I think she was helping out for the day. This is one area/vendor you do not need to stress about if you hire Flawless Beauty. Hiring Lucy-Zayne was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding! She was professional and responsive - really wanting to make sure I was getting what I needed and that she would be the right fit for me. My trial was great at her in-home studio and because we were a little rushed in trying to get my hair right (I had another appointment that I needed to get to), she offered to have me only pay for the makeup trial instead of the hair. Very thoughtful. The day of the wedding she and Alaina helped get my five bridesmaids, me, and my mom ready for the day. We packed a lot of people in a short timeslot but Lucy-Zayne had us all ready right on time. I couldn't have been happier with my hair and makeup. My hair is notoriously hard to keep up because it is so straight and it lasted all day and night. Flawless Beauty is amazing! Working with Erin was low key, relaxed, and fun! I love the light hearted vibe she gives. As for the makeup, it was fabulous! Very light hand and very quick! Lucy was awesome for my wedding! I hired her for my hair/makeup and for the rest of my bridal party. She was pleasant, responsive, and flexible in the planning up to the event.
