I made an appointment back in March with my soon-to-be daughter-in-law to find a mother-of-the-groom dress. I did my research and arrived with many pictures and the consultant could not be bothered. She quickly glanced at them and offered me a few old lady dresses instead. She said they didn't have any of the ones pictured, all of which I obtained from their website. I almost left but I felt bad because I was with my future daughter-in-law and this was where she bought her dress. Had I been alone I absolutely would have left. We did finally find a few things without any help from the consultant. Not sure why you even need an appointment since they are no help whatsoever. I ordered the dress which arrived in July. I came in for alterations which were $175. I thought $175 for alterations meant they would make the dress fit me. No, for $175 you get a seam sewed up the side so that the dress is super uncomfortable, and the bottom of the dress just cut off. I was speechless, a $600 dress where the bottom is just cut off with scissors. I could have done that myself for free. And the side seam alterations were so uncomfortable. I complained about the hem, and had to bring it back again to have it fixed properly. I never mentioned the side seams because it was obvious at this point I was lucky to even get the hem fixed in time for the wedding. The dress was beautiful but was so uncomfortable to wear. I regretted spending all this money here when I could have easily bought something that fit and didn't need alterations from Macy's. What a nightmare. My daughter-in-law had her own separate nightmare with her veil. Thank goodness we don't need to ever go here again.

    Big order; little service.

My best friend was getting married and all of her 8 bridesmaids, flower girl, mother, and mother in law made an appointment to look at our dresses on a Saturday afternoon in January. I was running a bit late and walk in to what feels almost like a discount type store with these super cramped "rows" of dresses crammed into a small space with a tight walkway. It's Saturday so, it's pretty busy. I was surprised when I got there everyone was cramped up in a corner still waiting for someone to get the dress options for us to try on and help us. (We are in fact giving them a pretty sizable order.) After about another 20 minutes we finally flagged someone down in the chaos of the store and they said they were going to try to get us A (singular) room to try the dresses on. This finally happened and the woman dropped the dresses in the room and disappeared until we flagged her down again for some clips to pin the dress in to see how it would actually fit. She seemed overly busy and they maybe didn't have enough staff that day- but then finally stuck around to help with what size we should get. The bride was able to get our dresses discounted a little to $168- I have no issue with this; pretty standard pricing for a bridesmaid dress. I get the size they recommend and pay for my dress in full. Dresses come in on time and correct as ordered- no issues there. It's a bit crazy how some of these type of dresses run to fit literally no one as I never have regular clothing altered. Im not sure if this is more of an issue with the dress line (Mori Lee) but I have ordered dresses for weddings before and not always needed any alterations or just a slight hem. I'm 5'6 140lbs and usually wear a size 6- no problems. I was wearing 3 inch heels and still had to get a good 6 inches removed from this delicate material, $$$ plus needed it taken in at the top on the sides $$$. (I won't comment on the actual alterations since I didn't do here- but it was close to the cost of the dress even at a pretty inexpensive local cleaners I go to). I honestly want to give this place one star, but being we had no ordering issues and despite the alterations, the dresses all looked nice, and I will chalk up the poor fit to the actual dress manufacturer. However, day of experience there was one star: we made an appointment and they should have had a try on room or 2 ready with the dresses already out, and someone available to help out the whole time. Instead, the experience there was a bit of a chaotic mess.

If you asked for my review after my first visit to Victorian Bridal Salon (when I bought my wedding…read moredress) I would have given them 5 stars. But based on my experiences since, I could never recommend them. First, my bridesmaids dresses didn't come in until one week before my wedding. When we went to buy the dresses in January, Michele said we didn't have time to wait but they would definitely be in on time. Not necessarily Michele's fault that they took so long, but it left a sour taste in my mouth when I called to check on them and she said "well they can take 4 months." I never would have bought my dresses there if she had told me that initially. The dresses finally came in and my girls went to the salon ASAP for their fitting. Michele essentially got them all done in time. Three days before my wedding I have an appointment to put my dress on so Michele can show my girls how to do the bustle and to take my dress home. Before we start, my one bridesmaid puts her dress on again because it was ready. Michele stood in the room while she put the dress on. After she has it on for a few minutes we notice there is a stain on the dress right over her chest. We point it out to Michele and she says "it wasn't there before, something must have happened." Well no, nothing happened. We are all standing here watching her put the dress on and she's not eating or drinking anything. Instead of just owning up to it and going to fix it, Michele says her hair must be wet, which it was not. So then I put my dress on which wasn't even done. The bustle wasn't even done yet so Michele just showed them where everything for the bustle will be. I was supposed to bring the dress home with me that day as my wedding was out of town, but Michele "just didn't get to it." Not a huge deal, my mom luckily can go back the following afternoon and pick it up. So I pay my almost $200 in alterations (mostly for the bustle which isn't even done yet) and my mom gets the dress the next day. We hang and transport the dress exactly as Michele told us to do. When we get to the hotel the afternoon before the wedding we take the plastic off the dress and fluff out the train just as Michele told us to do. Immediately my eyes go to one the appliqués that is now totally bunched up and pinched. It is so obvious and ugly. My mom called Michele and yet again she blamed it on and us and "wondered what could have happened because it wasn't like that on Tuesday." She had absolutely no solution to help us besides for her to walk us through what to do. No, I'm not taking a needle and thread to my wedding dress the night before I get married. So instead my mom and I had to pack up the dress and trudge through a storm to a seamstress that we were very lucky to find. The seamstress looks at it and it turns out the appliqué that is messed up is where one of the loops for the bustle is. So no, it didn't look like that on Tuesday because Michele hadn't done the bustle yet like she was supposed to. Luckily it all worked out and the seamstress was able to get it done, but I had to miss my nail appointment and part of my rehearsal because of the dress situation. Michele never called to check in and make sure our problem was resolved. I have no idea how she could miss that she ruined an appliqué when that was the exact spot she worked on the dress. Mistakes happen, but I could never support a business that chooses to blame the customer instead of owning up to their mistakes. In the end, I paid almost $200 in alterations before my dress was even done, just for Michele to screw up the alterations and leave me hanging 24 hours before I get married.

They had a great selection of different styles which were all very pretty, and the changing area was clean, well-decorated, and nicely lit. However, after I made my purchase, there was a lot of communication difficulty on their end in terms of how I could pay, what needed to be paid when, and when I was allowed to come in to try on the piece I paid a lot of money for. They only take important questions through text which is strange and don't answer emails or phone calls. They also tried to charge me two extra fees when they did not properly communicate with me, which I find very off-putting. I recently got my wedding dress altered here and got my mothers wedding dress made into a getting…read moreready robe and I did not have a good experience- nothing was done correctly. I needed very minimal alterations done in the beginning and by the end, I needed so many more alterations to fix what she did to my dress. The sleeves that she attached to my dress were very uneven, the top of my dress was taken in differently on each side and did not look good, she detached the corset piece when she took out a layer of lining and never reattached it so it kept moving when I had the dress on. For the robe, I put it on and we marked where I wanted the length to be, but she cut way shorter than what we spoke about and the robe was extremely short that it was uncomfortable to wear. I could not even tie the belt that went with the robe because if I tied it, it made the robe even shorter and looked like I was wearing a shirt. For the high price I paid and the outcomes I had, I was extremely disappointed and upset. I had to take my wedding dress somewhere new the week of my wedding to get it fixed and ultimately had to pay again. The new seamstress I brought my dress too was appalled with how poorly the alterations were done and was shocked at what I paid since she said everything was done incorrectly. I will say everyone in the store was extremely nice. I never leave a bad review, but reading reviews during wedding planning was so helpful for me and I would not suggest this place for wedding dress alterations as it is so important that your dress is taken care of and you are happy with it.
