A small place with big ideas. This place reminds me of the old timey stops along the interstate. I met the owner while I was there and was impressed. He truly cares for the product he puts out. I ordered the Triple Burger Meal ($12). This was a very good burger. In an apples to apples comparison it's top notch. This is a fast food burger. The amazing part is it's much better than the chains and a better value. The meat tastes high quality and is actually juicy. The fries are delicious. The service is impeccable and friendly also. Overall for what it is, a 5 star review. If I was comparing to a sit down restaurant it would be lower, but I like to rate based on what it is. A top notch, fast food burger at a good value. I keep coming back! This is by far my favorite burger spot! The restaurant is located in downtown Rockford. There is only street parking or you can find a public parking area and walk to the restaurant. The place is small and most people take it to go. They have some high top seats, a table with bench seats, and a few half booths. You order and pay at the counter. They have a small menu but lots of topping options! They write your order on a bag and pass it on to the cooks. The patty's are thin but the flavor is great. They also offer chicken strips which are always nice and crispy! Sadly, after new ownership, this place is no longer very good. The meat in the burgers is so thin you can't taste it, many of the fries in 2 orders were burnt to a crisp-the owner walked by and said nothing about them. It's very expensive for what you get. Still the best burger and fries in Rockford. Sometimes we order take out, sometimes we eat in. It can get very busy, especially if a festival is in full swing, but it's worth the wait and one can call in an order ahead of time, if need be. This place has been on my radar for a while! We were downtown enjoying RORA with our toddler when he was getting hangry, so we thought we'd grab him a quick burger! Love their no frills menu. You can just tell that the burgers are going to be good because they are basic, old school hamburgers! We just got him a kids burger with cheese only. That's it.. nothing fancy. Since he was way to busy to eat much of the burger, my husband and I ended up eating most... and it was SO good. Thin patty, little crispy... good, regulars old bun and cheese. I wanted another one! My boyfriend and I were hiking at Luton Park and decided to put in an order for burgers and fries at Bridge Street Burger Shack. We'd had their fries before as a snack, but never tried their burgers! Online ordering was super easy and our food was ready within 15 minutes which was great. They do note that during busy times they may have to shut online ordering off, totally understandable. Their business model is similar to Five Guys where you can get a single, double, triple, or quad patty burger and all toppings are free except egg and bacon. A single patty is just under a quarter of a pound. Free toppings include cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, jalapenos, olives, and mushrooms. Bacon or egg is $1 additional, and extra cheese is 50 cents. You can also get chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, a veggie burger, or a black bean burger! I ordered a double burger with tomato, mushroom, cheese, mayo, olives, and mustard. I got it in a combo with a large fry and a Sprite which was just over $8. I also ended up getting an order of chicken tenders as well since I love a good tender! We picked up the food and drove 20 minutes home - we ended up eating a bunch of fries on the drive while they were hot, but the rest of the food was still really good even after the drive. The smashed patties were juicy and very flavorful, with great seasoning. All the toppings were super fresh and I loved my burger! I was happy with the double patty burger. The bun was perfect, too -- a little soft but held up well to all my toppings. The fries are crinkle cut (so fun) and dusted with a special blend of seasoning to make them really stand out. They were super hot and fresh when I picked them up! The chicken tenders were very good as well - not the thickly breaded, knobby kind of tenders, just nicely coated and juicy tenders! They included a little packet of hand sanitizer in the bag which was a nice touch, as well as napkins and lots of ketchup packets. They aren't doing any dine in as of November 19, 2020, but there are benches outside where you could chow down on your burger or take your meal to the dam and eat at the picnic tables there. The employees working when I picked up the order were friendly, quick, and efficient. One of them offered to open the door for me since my hands were full. I'm really sad I don't live closer to Bridge Street Burger Shack, but I'm also happy because otherwise I'd probably eat these burgers every day. Burger shack is decent only because of the price. They've over hyped their special meat grind for sure. Fries are pretty good but their burgers are tiny, and don't have a good sear which ends up making the bun soggier than it should be. I will say that their take out efficiency is amazing given the small space and limited parking.
