I went in for a consult on Jun 14, and was charged the full amount of $214. And that's ok, because they let me know that they've contacted Delta and Metlife (I have dual insurance), and both insurance companies indicated that they will not be covering the consult fee/x-ray. Soon after my visit, I received a statement from Metlife that they were covering $60, so I called Powers Ortho and they refunded it back to my credit card. And later on, I received a call from Powers Ortho that my other insurance was going to cover the remainder of $154, so I asked Powers Ortho if they could mail me a check on Sept. 20. I have not received the check, and I had to follow up with them again today. The reason I'm giving Powers Ortho a 1-star is because of the poor processing of this single transaction. I've been in contact with 6 different people from their office either by email, call or text since August 21, to resolve my refund/s., which has taken a bit of time during my work week. Powers Ortho was quick to charge my credit card, and yet has taken months to do a single refund. Here's a timeline of my entire experience with Powers Ortho: -- June 14: Consultation, I paid $214 -- Sometime in July: I received statement from Metlife that they will be covering $60 for my consultation/visit -- August 21: I called Powers Ortho to let them know I got the statement from Metlife. The person I spoke to said they'd look into it, and would call me back -- August 28: I called to follow-up, and the person I spoke to said they'd follow-up with their finance department -- August 31: I called again to follow-up, and they refunded my credit card $60 -- August 31, later in the day: I received a call from Powers Ortho, and said they may have refunded me by mistake because they did not have a record of my credit card payment on June 14. As proof, I took screen shots of my credit card statement, and texted it to their finance staff, who said they'd look into it -- September 7: I didn't hear from them, so I sent another text message to their finance staff to check in about my account. Since I didn't hear back, I assumed the account was settled on their end -- September 20: I received a call from Powers Ortho, and they let me know that Delta (my other insurance) would cover the remainder of $154. I asked if they could send me a check in the mail -- October 11: I called to follow up about the check, and the person I spoke to, sounded impatient and annoyed. They did not initially apologize for the inconvenience this has caused me since August, but eventually did after I expressed my frustration that this whole process has been so time- consuming and exhausting. I feel like this could've been much simpler and faster. So I'm not sure why it has taken this much time and effort. I have not even started my treatment plan, and strongly doubt that I will, given the experience I've had. read more

I'd rather give them ZERO star. We chose this place just because it is close by. My son had to wait for 45 mins each time before the orthodontic really came to see him. Example: Check in at 1.30 pm, the assistant called you in 3 mins later just to sit and waited inside for another 45 mins. This happened in EVERY visit. Stop cheating your patients please. Dr. Powers is not that nice, fake smile to patients. The receptionist are also rude. Thinking of going to others. Update: Now my daughter needs braces. We started asking friends where they went. Few of them regret to go here. Hmm... The same problem are still there! read more

Excellent, professional, nice and a top notch Orthodontist. All her employees are sweet, kind and really care about their patients. She has a stellar reputation as a quality Orthodontist, so yes if you want it done right the first time you will come here. She does book up quickly and often they will request you come during your child's school hours especially if it's an emergency repair (come on why would you wait?), but this is NOT unusual for an Orthodontist. I remember going to my Ortho during school hours many times as a child and that was in the early 80's. I can't say enough about Dr. Powers and her staff, they treat everyone as family. So if you want great results in a friendly and easy going office, this is your place! Don't trust your teeth with just anyone! read more

Dr. Powers was recommended to me by my dentist, Dr. Tobian. She not only gave me a perfectly straight and anatomically correct bite but a beautiful smile I am proud to show the world. I'm amazed at how accommodating everyone at Smile Power is. I have never been disappointed with the care I've received. Oh, and they treat all ages from tiny tots to the elderly too! Dr. Powers is fantastic. I had my first phase of braces with another orthodontist when I was 13...however, I was still really unhappy with my smile. Two years ago, I came to Dr. Powers to get me the correct bite, and smile that I wanted and...she did! She was so patient and willing to even go the extra mile to make sure my treatment was well done. Today I got my braces off.... Hurrah! Dr. Powers and her team are fabulous in every way! They have been wonderful to me at age 60 , but I've sat waiting my turn and have listened to them interacting with children of all ages and have loved the kindness and tenderness I've heard. I saw Dr. Powers in 2005 to have my teeth tweaked a bit. I had braces when I was in 4th-8th grade (1970's). Over the years as I got older, my teeth shifted a bit. Dr. Powers suggested traditional bands on my bottom teeth and Invisalign on my upper teeth. I believe I had the braces on for about a year. Everything was perfect! Over the years, my teeth have not been behaving even though I wear my retainers (I'm 55) and so my teeth have decided to shift a bit. My fault since I wasn't consistant on wearing my bottom retainer. So I am now due to go in to see what can be done. I'm getting married in April 2019 and would like my teeth to be in tip-top shape! I could not have asked for a better experience! From the moment I made the first call to the confirmation communication, arrival, intake, consultation, and check out, I was treated with the utmost professionalism, kindness, and respect. I would love to continue working with Dr. Powers and her incredible staff. The first person I spoke to was Sara. She was cheerful, attentive, and knowledgeable. She answered my endless questions politely, efficiently and with genuine concern. It was a pleasure seeing her smiling face when I arrived in the office. She gave me a tour of the office, reviewed all the forms with me, took the pictures, discussed all the details of Invisalign, and had everything ready to go for Dr. Powers' consultation. Sara carried me through from beginning to end. When I regretfully finished my 7:40am appointment she quickly called the next client. Her cheerful disposition was present in every interaction with me and with everyone else. Dr. Powers could not have been more pleasant to work with. She is in high demand but it doesn't alter her ability to focus on what is in front of her. She is fully present with each of her patients, when she is with you she is fully with you. Her extensive experience, knowledge, and ability to transfer it is clear, thorough, and done with genuine sincerity and a calming energy. Dr. Powers was recommended to me by my lifelong family dentist and dear friend. I saw her over 10 years ago for an Invisalign consultation that I was unable to follow through with at the time. After redoing all my research I found my way back to her again. Little did I know she was THE expert in the field. She worked with the development of the procedure at Stanford and has been practicing it since its inception. I would be confidant in doing any orthodontic treatment with her. There is no price on trust and I implicitly trust her. Unfortunately, although they were more than accommodating with my unique situation, I am currently unable to start treatment with her. I am moving to Africa next month and will be unable to return on a regular basis for check ups and progress. It is with a heavy heart that I must do Invisalign with someone else. Can I please still see you when I come to visit?!?! Smile Power Orthodontics is gem with the most appropriate name possible. They do everything with a smile, bring a smile to your face, and empower all parties involved in the process. I wouldn't change absolutely anything and I couldn't recommend them any more highly. We really like Dr. Powers and her entire staff. They do get busy, but that's because they're good. They do their best to get us in and we've never had to wait more than a week or so. They also fit us right in if it's an "emergency"- but really, my son's elaborate orthodontia has been pretty much pain free. Good prices, much better than the expensive and over-popular team of guys down the road (they are very nice, too, but not as clear with us about our treatment, not as direct, and pricier- we got 3 opinions before going with Dr. Powers.) read more

Dr Powers is great. I'm 47 and need an implant and figured I might as well get my bottom teeth straightened ahead of time. My regular dentist recommended Dr Powers and while, hey, no one exactly likes being in the chair, it's as easy as it can be. My intake was done efficiently, with plenty of options for treatment and payment (I had some random billing issue with my insurance and they were happy to rework a payment plan). Procedures are done efficiently and there's not a lot of downtime between when her techs do what they need to do and when she does her thing. Lastly, for me, there's no better tell for a professional than how they treat their own staff and you can tell they're treated right. Also, she's got a Galaga machine in her office which is pretty darn sweet. read more

We love everything about Powers Orthodontics! Our daughter was very nervous about getting her Herbst and braces. This office actually makes visiting fun. The infrastructure is kid friendly, with games and movies while you're waiting. My daughter earns "ortho bucks" for good hygiene and being on time to her appointments which she can redeem for gift cards at her favorite stores...great idea! Dr. Powers is very professional and has invested in top technology. She's a mom herself, so she has a great manner with kids. I can't say enough good things about this practice. It's almost impossible to get an appointment in a timely manner. I resent the fact that they want students to miss school in order to have an appointment. Twice I've had to reschedule an appointment and it took one month before I could get in - even for an 10:00 a.m. appointment. While it's unlikely that many people can compare orthodontic treatment as most of us hope it's only a one time run... I can say that this office has exceeded my expectations. I love how thorough they are and how they explain everything as they're doing it. You can tell Dr. Powers is incredibly passionate about what she does. The whole staff has been over the top helpful and kind. I did have one issue pop up. I'm a firm believer that nobody is perfect and mistakes do happen, how you fix the issue determines customer satisfaction and this office handled it like true professionals. Dr. Powers is fantastic. I became a patient at 49 yrs old. She worked with my dentist and periodontist to plan a coordinated care strategy that had me in and out of braces in a year with outstanding results. This is the best best dental or medical care I have ever received. Her plan called for approximately 12 months and I was done just shy of that - I was motivated and wore my bands as directed (very important !). The office is great - her team is a delight to work with. Young or old (or old, but young) you should not fail to consider Dr. Powers for your orthodontic treatment. read more

There is no better orthodontist to take your family to than Dr. Powers. She has treated me and my eldest daughter and she will be treating my two younger kids, too. Dr. Powers knows what she is doing and his very conservative and thoughtful with her treatment recommendations. With both my treatment plan and my daughter's, the plans were executed just as she said including total treatment time. Her Smile Power staff is friendly, very knowledgeable, and ALWAYS do to their best to run on time. If they get behind, they work diligently to catch back up. Time is valuable to patients and they understand that! When I was sitting in the waiting room for the first time I literally heard another patient say "I love coming to my appointments because Dr. Powers and her staff always brighten my day." I'm not impressed at all with Dr. Powers. I realize that the business model employed by orthodontists now is to pack in as many patients as possible and minimize the amount of time the orthodontist has to spend with each patient in order to maximize revenue. But, it is so disrespectful to schedule three people at the same time slot and then make you wait 30 minutes to be seen. The patient then sits for another 5 - 10 minutes until being seen. First by one of the techs and then by Dr. Powers. Talk about impersonal. When Dr. Powers spoke with me, I was tempted to ask her if she knew my daughter's name because she continually referred to my daughter as "she", "her", or "your daughter". I run my own business and I always imagine how long I'd last if I double or triple booked my clients and then made them wait 30 minutes. read more

I had gone here in the past for my retainer. Made an appointment for my 8 year old daughter and waited a month for the appointment. I had a 1:30PM appointment and showed up early with all my paper work filled out and was the first one there after they returned from lunch. Another family came in after us late without their paperwork filled out. This family was seen before us and left after 30 minutes. We were still waiting after a hour to be seen by the orthodontist and we just finally got tired of waiting and left. The orthodontist was busy working on children who had appointments way after us and someone kept giving us excuses for something else. Never going back! Plus it bothers me when a business owner has his/her parking spot closest to their business and not for their customers. read more

I have had a bad experience with this practice. I found her on the internet and seemed to get good reviews. I had Simpli 5 treatment done 3 years ago and was not satisfied with the results. After having a baby I finally went back to see if there was anything that could be done to fix it, just by looking at my mouth she asked if my premanent retainer had broken, it had not. My teeth were just not straightened all the way after treatment. She also told me that after time, soft tissues begin to sag and that could be causing my problem. Im in my 20s!! What an insult. She recommended I get braces, costing $4k, or at least get an upper retainer that would cost me $250. That was in December. I was so dissapointed that after not being satisfied with the money and time I spent on this treatment she wanted me to spend more money on more treatment. I got a second opinion from Dr. Pearson, who was phenomenal at answering my questions and communicated to me that he would recommend braces to move my teeth to where they should be and explained exactly what he would be doing. He also recommended that she only charge me for the cost of the materials if I went back to her and decided to get braces, since this would be my second treatment. She never once offered that. However, we have decided to relocate and I do not have the time or money to be spending on braces. The worst was my last appointment. I decided on getting my permanent retainer removed because Im so dissatisfied with the treatment, Id rather have my teeth back to where they were before the treatment. After calling several times and being treated rudely by the receptionist, who insisted there were no appointments available because this appointment slot had to be 30 minutes, she said finally there was an opening and got me an appointment. I showed up at 11:30. After not even being acknowledged by the ortho for 1 hour, I was the last person left for her to see. I overheard her say to her assistant that its lunchtime and she didnt have time to remove my retainer. Are you serious? Ive waited here a whole hour and by the way Im pregnant and nauseous and sick. By the way, after discussing my options, they only could find my records from 3 years ago. They denied that I had an appointment in December. When they finally found my other chart, the assistant rudely said to me that I was seen and I denied treatment then, and she doesnt remember anything about taking impressions for a retainer. So she basically said I was lying. The ortho never said goodbye to me, she moved on to the next person, or went to lunch or something, and so I went to the front desk to see if I owed anything for this appointment that was a complete waste of my time, and they said I owed $50. I said that was completely rediculous, they didnt actually do anything, and I shoudlnt have to pay that. The same assistant once again, made a rude comment and turned her back on me and walked away, and I left. Ive never been treated so rudely by a professional and office personell. I dont want anyone to have this experience there. I will never be recommending this person nor going back. I would however be recommending Dr. Pearson! I hope I can find a good ortho where we move. By the way, it irritated me that her expensive Mercedes is parked out front, and my experience has been that they just want my money there. Never again. My money will happily be spent elsewhere. read more
