Decided to check out Änkôr for a fancy dinner. We did same day reservations for a Thursday evening. Service was excellent and they were extremely accommodating with diet restrictions. Several extra touches (folding napkins when you left your seat, getting the door for when your party departed) that you don't normally see these days. There's a 6 course tasting menu ($115.00) but we went a la carte. Entrees are in the $36.00 to $49.00 price range. Cool that you can see the ducks being dry aged. - Celeriac ($18.00) - shrimp tartare with celery root and grapes were refreshing. - Duck ($43.00) - dry aged breast was excellent. Beets were delicious. - Seafood ($47.00) - halibut was perfectly cooked. Didn't love the mushy, mashed zucchini texture. - Pork & scallop ($43.00) - pork belly was next level. Perfect bites, not too fatty. - Cranberry ($13.00) - almond & sage sorbet was a unique combination. Interesting, quality dishes at Änkôr.

Very good service and food. We loved every single dish. Our waitress from Chile was super nice

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Canada. I have been lucky enough to visit it a couple times in the past couple years when I have returned home to Calgary. I had the tasting menu when I recently visited in the end of August. Each course is so different and well prepared. I loved every course! I was trying to decide between the halibut and duck for my main before going all in. If I was to return, I would get the fish if it was in the summer or duck in the fall/winter. Both desserts were tasty but I if had to order one, I would order the sorbet. Lastly, service.... Extremely friendly and attentive.

Came here for a birthday dinner while vacationing in Banff. The service was top notch. The hostess and waiting staff were all very friendly, conversational, and smiley without overdoing the warmth. The dishes were all so divine and flavorful. The absolute standout was the scallop- so tender and not overpowering in taste. The overall vibe was intimate and classy, definitely a great date night spot or to celebrate an occasion. I recommend reserving in advance! They seemed to get pretty busy!

After visiting this spot, my boyfriend and I had a post-review discussion in the car and without hesitation, we both agreed that this is one of the best restaurants that we've ever been to. This was our last restaurant that we had the pleasure of visiting in Canmore, and we definitely ended up saving the best for last. I chose this restaurant as the spot to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday because I wanted it to be special and it definitely delivered! First off, the service at this spot is impeccable. They truly hire professional, genuine, skilled, and crafty people here who really care about food and the experience. It was very telling and we wanted to highlight that observation. Secondly, the cocktails. During our trip, we were lucky to have Josh as our bartender and not only did he truly know the ins and outs of the liquor and the ingredients that he used, you can tell that he has really perfected the craft at creating a beautifully presented cocktail, and this was already noticed by the way he cuts an orange. The cocktails here were basically like an art piece and had some of the most creative presentations I've ever seen. My cantaloupe island cocktail even had an herb popsicle in it and the after noon cocktail had mint sorbet incorporated into the presentation too, which was none like I've had before. Food-wise, they start you with a complimentary palette cleanser, which was a mini donut topped with fennel and caviar, which was exquisite and enhanced the experience. We then chose the foie gras, root salad, and mackerel as our smaller dishes and the duck and cod as our main course dishes. I swear to you.. each dish that we tried, we looked at each other in awe because we were baffled that something could taste that wonderful and look so aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Our favorite was the cod main course, which happened to be the newest menu item at the time. We also got the baked alaska for dessert since we wanted to complete the entire course, and that was beautifully presented and flavorful as well. The main chef/owner, Danny Beaulieu, and his team absolutely killed everything on this menu, and we were even able to meet with the owner and to speak with him during our visit here. It was a truly lovely experience and we are big time rooting for the restaurant's success. We are really thankful that we were able to experience Ankor and appreciate the love, care, and effort put into this spot. We will definitely see you again and hope to be back soon! :)

We just had to go back to Ankör for the 3rd time in a week for dinner tonight. We had the foie gras, celeriac with shrimp tartare and the veal tartare again. It's just that good. We both had the scallop and 36-hour sous vide pork belly with anchovy aioli, carrot puree and a host of other deliciousness. We also have had the duck and lamb dishes. If you're ever in Banff or Canmore, go here! Do NOT hesitate. The staff and chef/owner are so talented, personable and amazing. You won't regret it.

Nice and small restaurant serving elevated food. Tried their fois gras, scallops, pumpkin with octopus, black cod, beef tartar, and steak. All the dishes were refined but also small (do those two always go hand in hand?). Favorite dish was the scallops. The service was attentive and the atmosphere is chill. Worth checking out if you are into fine dining.

We opted for their tasting menu as recommended by our bartender/waiter Josh! He was very friendly, meticulous, and made our experience as amazing as it was. Just what we needed after a whole day exploring Banff. Our tasting menu included the following: [First Course] - Foie gras: house brioche, lavender compressed rhubarb, honey gel, pistachio - Scallop: crudo w/ rayu, puffed quinoa, fermented burdock, ginger lace tuile, orange pearls - Tartare: alberta veal, porcini aïoli, marrow croutons, peppercorn & cognac foam, and garlic scape [Main Course] - Duck: dry aged breast, leg confit, parsnip, black garlic demi, raisin gel, and pistachio - Salmon: dry aged & mi cuit, cured belly salsa, fermented fennel, beets, nut dukkah, herbed cream sauce [Dessert] - Coffee chiffon cake with frozen almond custard, coffee foam, sponge toffee, biscotti, and brown sugar gel I can't tell you which part of the meal was my favorite because I liked them all so much. Each dish served a particular ingredient in may different forms. Creative and tasty! All I remember was that with every bite, I let out a "MMMM!" The only thing that was just ok was the coffee chiffon cake. I would've loved a bigger scoop of the frozen almond custard. The brown sugar gel was a little much. All in all, we had an amazing meal and would definitely come back if we were ever in Canada again!

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We got the tasting menu (CAD 118), which was a steal in my opinion. It was a ton of food and every course (5 savory, 1 sweet) was delicious. It was a great way to sample their menu. We started with three appetizers - foie gras, lamb tartare, and shrimp with celeriac. My favorite was the celeriac dish - it had so many textures and very crunchy components that paired very well with the creamy shrimp, and a little bit of spice really brought out the flavors. The two entrees were incredible. The sous vide and then deep fried pork belly was both crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside - amazing. I also really liked the scallop and the carrots that came with the dish. The duck was also so good. The breast was cooked perfectly with a layer of crispy skin, and the confit was so flavorful. It paired perfectly with the beets. Finally, the dessert was a coffee cream on a graham cracker crust. Overall I felt like this and the lamb tartare were slightly weaker but overall the food was just incredible. Service was also very good and attentive. Definitely 5 stars and highly recommend checking out if you are in the area.

We were up in Banff enjoying the beautiful outdoors and decided to celebrate our two year anniversary at Änkôr. Let me start by saying the food was incredible. We both agreed it beats any restaurant in Denver. We highly recommend everything that we ate. Starting with the scallop crudo (we actually ordered two after having it, it was that good) and ending with the lemon curd mousse. The dry aged duck was cooked to perfection. The rendered fat on the breast was so crisp and full of intense flavor. Barbara did an amazing job and we really appreciate the whole staff for being so welcoming, and knowledgeable. The only downside is our new favorite restaurant is 1000 miles away... If you're looking for an amazing meal, this is your place. Dan & Lexi

The staff took care of making this a special evening. As soon as we walked in, they offered ti take my coat. We enjoyed the tasting menu - thoughtful and imaginative. Ambience was elegant but inviting and comfortable. We've had our share of Michelin starred restaurants and Ankor should definitely be on their list. Would highly recommend!

We had their 6 course tasting menu and added a cheese course. It's easily one of the best and most memorable meals I've had! Amazing staff and service! Everything was impeccable and executed flawlessly. We will definitely go back again if we visit Canmore again as they rotate their menu.

Our menu said it was going to be a curry dish, but when it arrived it was a Mediterranean dish. It was honestly dreamy! But we were confused because I guess we had a copy of the old menu. Nonetheless, I basically licked the plate! Lastly we ordered the chocolate salted caramel budino (pudding) for dessert. It was so luscious and went perfectly with our end of dinner hot drinks of tea and cappuccino. The serviced matched the food: also fantastic. Super professional and friendly waitress (I forgot to ask her name) she was so personal and we enjoyed talking to her. They comp'd our lamb because of the menu mixup which was so nice! No chives, mashed potato, grilled asparagus, crispy onion, and caramelized onion jus. It was amazing, fall-apart tender and full of flavor. I paired it with a 9 oz pour of the Villa des Anges Cabernet (Languedoc, France), and it was a perfect match. Highly recommend that combo. Honest heads-up on the steaks, though: I had the 6 oz Flat Iron and it was just "ok". It was tough and under-seasoned. My friend's ribeye came out the same way. For a place sourcing 31-day aged Alberta beef, I expected more from the steaks. So if you're deciding, skip the flat iron/ribeye and go for the short rib. That's the dish to order. Parking is the usual Canmore situation. We found a reasonably priced spot on a nearby side street, but locals know you just grab whatever you can find. While waiting for everyone to come & settle down, they were serving appetizers. Everything on the menu was so delicious. Drinks were good! The wait staff was pleasant knowledgeable and accommodating. We were in a large party so we had a semi private dining area. Their specialty cocktails were great and very appealing to the eye in regard to the presentation upon delivery to the table. Very well put together flavour notes hit. The noise level in the restaurant was perfect for socializing so no complaints there. We did have a large party which probably pushed the kitchen staff a bit because some of the plating of a few dishes came out and were not complete ( 2out3 dishes came missing some plating components) when we made a comment to the waiter he went to investigate. They realized the issue and made a course correction on our bills which was appreciated. I hade the pork chops and I'll say the plating presentation was good but the quality of the the chops not so much, now I've worked in the industry in the past so I usually give a wide birth when it comes to the doneness of my proteins. But these were over cooked or seemed to have been cooked from a frozen state because they were dry as an Alberta summer. Not to mention tough and for that reason is why I'm only giving a 3 out of 5. Pork chops should be cooked through but full of juice these definitely missed the mark. The other components of the dish were great cooked proper with a perfect balance of seasoning. I'd come stop in again if I was in town but I'd probably wouldn't get the chops again.
