I was looking for a good baguette in my neighborhood for a while. But as simple as a baguette may seem, making a tasty one is an art. I was running some errands when I suddenly felt pekish. I saw on Yelp that there was an "authentic French bakery" nearby and decided, "Why not?" Originally, I was thinking of getting a quiche, but as I got into the store, I decided to switch to an avocado egg sandwich. I am sure quiche is good, but I was impressed by the sandwich. It came on the plate with very fresh salad greens. Greens there fresh and sauce tangy, just what one needs to cut through the richness of avocado and egg. I think I had an entire Avacado cut on it. The avocado itself was just right. But the star of the show, for me, was a baguette! I inhaled the entire dish and asked if they sell baguettes on their own, which they do. The bakery associate told me they just ran out, but they are baking new ones now. If I wait 10-15 minutes, I will get a freshly baked one. I could not believe my lack. They came as promises and they were great, just smell alone was to die for There are so many other things I want to try, so I'll definitely be back. Thank you guys, you all made my day!

Overall, a really nice spot for a casual brunch or sweet treat. I'd definitely come back!

It's a short walk away, and they are now in Epic Cookies' old location. This new space is bigger and more front and center. A lot of people did not realize that their old location was even there on Division Street, until I took them there. They just opened this location about three days ago, so it was pretty busy when I visited today, and even Karin and her husband were in there helping out! Both very kind people! I came in for my favorite "Death by Chocolate" cupcake and was excited to try two new flavors, Coconut Guava and Lemon Raspberry. I usually check their website ahead of time to see what seasonal cupcakes they have before visiting, I saw those and rush over here. P.s. please bring back the Versailles Cupcake from Summer '25! That raspberry filling is heaven sent, and part of the reason why I came by to try the Lemon raspberry flavor! Even with the rush, the staff was just as friendly as always. I really love it here and always bring my family and friends when they are in town! I also have to give credit to their branding and marketing. Their social media is genuinely some of the best I've seen from a local business. The photography, videos, and product launches are always beautifully done, and even the coffee cup design is stylish and instantly recognizable. It's clear they put a lot of thought into every aspect of the customer experience. I've also been to their Warren location, which is just as good. It feels a bit larger and more spacious while maintaining the same great coffee and welcoming vibe. I've heard they're opening a location in Flemington, and I'm so excited! If it's anything like their Somerville and Warren cafés, it'll be a fantastic addition to the area.

The waitstaff is some of the friendliest around. The outdoor seating is also quite nice in the summertime alongside the pedestrian street. In terms of the menu, it's hard to say there is a standout, because I get something different each time, and I have yet to go wrong. Everything here is absolutely excellent, and I look forward to each return visit to come.

I haven't tried too many cakes in the area so I can't truly compare to give it a full 5 star rating BUT the comments I hear a lot of is they use fresh fruit in their cakes. I usually get birthday cakes from Asian bakeries where fresh fruit is expected so that was an interesting comment to make from my POV. The fruit birthday cakes I've had from here are pretty good. Not too sweet and the most interesting fruit fillings I've had in cake - banana! Among other fruits. The cake isn't as light/airy as I'm used to but not bad at all. The buttercream is on the sweeter side for me but okay if you eat it with the cake and don't leave it until the end. It's not a terribly thick layer. But the cakes were super colorful and it's a lot of food coloring with how saturated the colors are. Your mouth and tongue will be stained if you're not careful. Having said that, I ordered an Oreo cake because that's why my kid wants. BUT I did request that instead of buttercream on the outside, it'll be whipped cream. Still buttercream on the inside though. I'll update this review after the party as it hasn't happened yet. This is a shop that sort of takes you back when you walk in. It's located in a corner shopping center of sorts and they have a shared parking lot so no need to hunt for parking. It has a nostalgic feel with display cases along much of the length, refrigerated sections for drinks (some were Asian which surprised me) and ice cream cake. Plus a wall of candles and birthday cake decorations because they do take a lot of orders for special occasions. No extra frills and nothing for decor's sake. There was a steady line when I went on Sunday morning. Two doors, one designed to be the entrance and the other the exit (but there isn't a police so use whichever door, but the line starts at the entrance door). As you walk up to the counter, someone will help you out. They've got all sorts of things from pastries to cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cannoli's, pies... even a tres leches section that was woefully empty. The only thing is for some odd reason, there are signs of what the items were, but absolutely no prices were posted in the display cases. At least none that I was aware of. I was passed onto the manager to take my order. It took a little time because I'm pretty sure she also decorates cakes and some people were waiting on them but I eventually got my order in. A 9" Oreo cake (for up to 16 people) with whipped cream exterior and birthday message is about $75. I added on a tres leches on a whim - they sold out early but a new batch just finished so I got one straight from the kitchen - was roughly $10. Receipts are old school, orders taken on a paper pad with a carbon copy given to you. I've had a number of tres leches cakes before and this is one of a kind! Deliciously moist, whipped topping - and the cake is halved. In between, they put fruit in there! Plus a maraschino cherry on top and cinnamon dusted over it. It was nowhere near "too sweet" and I rather enjoyed it. A lot. In fact, I'm thinking of calling in to see if I can get some for the party for the adults. My picky daughter loved it. Overall, I have a pretty good impression of this bakery and I'm looking to trying more items over time.
