Dr. Seeley is an experienced professional. He has an experienced team too. His scheduling staff member can be rude and quite aggressive. I had exactly the same experience with her both at the time of making the appointment aswell as post the visit when I had called in to report my prescription(s) missing details that were necessary and required for placing orders. This was my second visit to Dr. Seeley's clinic for a routine eye exam and full checkup. I came back satisfied with the examination and with his recommendations, but were surprised to notice essential details not being mentioned on the prescriptions. Overall, while it's a neat and tidy place and there is ample parking right outside, the experience with the scheduler and having to go back in to get the missing details on the prescriptions, having to spend much extra time than was required, can be rather stressful especially when one can be already pressed for time! read more

I went there today as a new patient for my yearly checkup based on Yelp reviews. I wanted an ophthalmologist and Dr Seeley M.D. is Board Certified. It was easy to get an appointment and all of the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a comfortable waiting room and ample parking. Dr Seeley was friendly and professional. He explained everything that he was doing and he was very professional. This is probably the best exam I have ever had. I also liked that they scheduled my next exam before I left. read more

Such a great doctor. Served both my husband and I for years. Also such a great office crew. I once lost sight in my left eye while I was at work. He knew exactly what the issue was over the phone but had me come in immediately for an appointment. It was from dehydration. He had me stay for about an hour and drink large amounts of water. Before I left the office my eyesight had been restored. Because of the dehydration the signals were not getting from my brain to my eye. With my husband he had a fall and had a brain injury and had 3 brain surgeries. After the surgeries the surgeon put him on high blood pressure meds, when we saw Dr. Seeley he diagnosed it as a eye pressure issue and prescribed eye drops and to go off the blood pressure meds, this took care of the vision issues. I am a retired MD, UCSF class of 1970. I took my mother to Dr Seeley since she had been seeing him for years before I moved to Santa Rosa. She (now deceased) had alzheimers dementia, glaucoma, diabetic retinopthy with bleeds. He is a money making machine. He is very competent with the technical aspects of eye diagnosis and treatment.. However when I took my mother into his exam room, and sat next to her since she was feeble and demented, ^he never acknowledged that I was present. He never looked at me. Despite the fact we went to same medical school and graduated only one year apart.^ I don't know what his problem is. He was very cold to me, a retired colleague, and I found this very offensive. Dr. Seeley and his staff care about all aspects of my eye health, including allergies, medicines, being a wildfire victim, and other health concerns that affect my vision. By dealing with my eye allergies with Dr. Seeley, I need less allergy meds for the rest of my body. The office staff cares-I've had to reschedule appointments due to my illnesses and my husband's cancer. The staff called to reschedule and expressed concern, hoping I was feeling better. I very much appreciate that the office still takes precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by masking and requiring masks, since my husband and I are extremely at risk for COVID's worst effects. My husband and I have been with Dr. Seeley's practice since more than 30 years ago when we lived in Santa Rosa. Dr. Seeley is a very caring and knowledgeable professional. He is calm and patient. He is an excellent listener and answers all our questions. Several years ago, I had an eye emergency (woke up and my vision was foggy). Dr. Seeley saw me right away, checked my eyes, and prescribed medication. He did not release me to return home until he felt my vision had improved to the point where it was safe to do so. Over the course of a few weeks, he continued to monitor my situation closely. He even gave me his private number in case I needed to call him. Dr. Seeley is a treasure! That's why we continue to see him even though it means driving 45-60 minutes from our current home! Dr. Seeley's office staff (Karen, Kendy, and Ann) is friendly and efficient. I have been going to Dr. Seeley for a few years and love everything about the office, the staff at the front desk, the assistants and Dr. Seeley. I feel like I am always in good hands and have the care I need. He helped my Great Aunt with cataract surgery when the clinic poo pooed her because of her age and mental disability. Dr. Seeley is a wonderful man! He has helped my mother and me for years now. He has always been very kind and considerate, answering all our questions. Now my Mom is 97, she has a rare condition where her eyelashes grow so that they poke her eyes, It has been very painful for my mother. He always is so kind to my Mom, pulls out the eyelashes sometimes three times a week. He is like a country doctor and has a great sense of humor. Dr. Seeley has helped me immensely also as I have severe dry eye, and he has helped me get a good daily routine that controls my condition. I use gel at night and drops during the day. I have had eye infections and he has given me antibiotic samples and my infections have always cleared up. He has also given me a prescription for an eye antibiotic on one occasion. And, they always squeeze us in when we are having a problem, and the staff if very professional and also very kind. read more

I took my husband to Dr. Seeley for the first time 2 weeks ago. Richard's oncologist recommended him since Richard had a complicated case with ongoing cancer treatment as well as complicated eye problems. We were so very pleased with Dr. Seeley as well as his very nice competent staff. Dr. Seeley did the entire exam himself and also considered Richard's entire medical condition. DO NOT GO! Had eye infection that was responding to antibiotic, but my regular Doctor referred me, because of a compromised immune system. Dr. Seeley REFUSED EVEN TO REFILL THE ANTIBIOTIC! Wasted my Medicare 'specialist appointment' and told me I'm (over 2 days) SUDDENLY ALLERGIC TO MY CAT. Even though the eye infection is nearly cleared up, and responding well, refused to listen to me and told me to 'get another doctor' after he had used up the Medicare specialist, benefit. read more

Maybe Dr. Seeley was just having a bad day... maybe he doesn't like to be asked questions... maybe he just didn't like me... but regardless, I found him to be a cold fish and I wouldn't recommend him. Let me explain - I accompanied my fiancee to his pre-op appt with Dr. Seeley. We waited sbout 20-30 mins in the waiting room. The reception staff are great. They did seem a bit pre-occupied with making sure he enough insurance to pay for surgery - blah, blah, blah... expected in this day and age... Once in the exam room the nurse was great - she was getting all the information down and we were laughing and having a great old time... then he comes in. He listened to my fiancee's questions and handed him a consent to sign. I jumped in and told my fiancee to wait a second because I wasn't sure I heard all the potential risks of surgery. I wanted to know the percent risk of complications. Dr. Seeley turned around and directly looked at me and quoted 98.8% percent of complications such as infection, but he couldn't tell me the risk of some freak reaction to anesthesia or heart attack. He was CLEARLY annoyed with me. I wasn't asking about freak accidents I KNOW no one can predict that. I asked a few more questions because I wanted to make sure my fiancee had a clear understanding of potential risks. Dr. Seeley said it is a very common surgery with complications occuring in 1 of 50,000 cases. We discussed some more.... He then examed my boyfriend's eye. Oh, he says ominously - you have a very big eye with severe astigmatism. That may effect the outcome of the cataract surgery effectiveness. NOW? NOW after 20+ years to taking care of this man you notice that his eyeball is big? AFTER he signed the consent? Then my cell phone starts ringing- that just about put him over the edge... well I had scheduled one hour for the appointment - not usually a problem unless you sit in the waiting room in excess of 20- 30 minutes... now I was running late and MY next appointment was looking for me... I excused myself so he could continue...He wrapped up the visit and we were out of there... my boyfriend and I talked about the experience and we wondered if he was the man to do the job. Sure, he's probably very skilled and highly trained, but jeesh - what a lousy attitude he had. Oh - he forgot to mention a common complication I found on every website that I read when I googled "complications of cataract surgery" 30 seconds on the internet and it was clear that about 20% (depending upon the reference) of patients will experience Posterior Capsule Opacification - cloudy vision. It is fixed with a treatment by a YAG laser, not a big deal - but information - we didn't get. read more

Dr. Seeley is very knowledgeable. The wait wasn't very long and he know exactly what was wrong with my eye. He gave me some medicine along with an explanation as to how to avoid this from happening again. He even gave me a paper that he had written about it. I usually get my eye care at another office in Sebastopol..but when I had a problem after hours, Dr. Seeley was the physician on call. He reassured me about the symptoms and offered to examine first thing next morning. My own ophthalmology office happened to be closed that next day and I was grateful to go to Dr. Seeley's office. The reception staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Dr. Seeley was unable to give me a clear diagnosis and referred me to a specialist for further examination..his office staff (including receptionist Kendy) were excellent and helped with that referral so that I could get right in. I have been going to Dr Seeley since I was 11 yrs. old. I'm currently 28 yrs old. Dr Seeley is the best. Truly. From the very beginning. He taught me how to care for my eyes. How to use contacts at a young age. I had, what I thought was an emergency this last year; A burning in my eye. The staff saw me right away with no wait. The ER charge was more than fair, minimal expense. Dr Seeley's compassion for his clients is above and beyond. The staff is amazing. The appointments are on time. The explanation for procedures and diagnostics are thorough. Recently I saw Dr Seeley for my annual exam, I mentioned during the check in process, that I had injured my back since my last visit. Limited activity, new meds. After my eye exam, Dr Seeley talked to me about my back. He talked to me about things that might help and his own experience with back injuries. He even referred me to an awesome back doctor that is local. Then the staff took it to another level of greatness, and called the back doctor to get me an appointment. This just shows how much this office loves their clients. I can't say enough how much I appreciate the doctor and staff. Contacts are ordered and arrive in such a short time.
