I used to think Electric Haven was the best barbershop in town, until I saw all of their most talented barbers opened their own place. Just got my second haircut at Brigade with Ren. I hadn't had a real haircut in several years and only had a vague idea of what I wanted. He was able to work with what I gave him and I've been very happy with the result. The shop has a great vibe and excellent music. Prices are reasonable. The cash only policy is a bit annoying but there is an ATM inside so it shouldn't be a huge issue. The place is small and your chances as a walk-in don't seem great from the two times I've been there so I highly recommend you make an appointment, which you can do online. Ok, so i grew up in Chicago. From 5th grade to 28 years old i had a total of 2 people that cut my hair. Im not super particular, it grows back right, but i am super loyal. When i find someone i like, i stick with them. I moved out to Az in 1998 i found one person i liked that cut my hair and they left the shop and i couldn't find where they went. So its been a long search. I've always said, its not the hair cut, its how the cut grows out. Thats how you tell someone thats a pro. I tried Brigade as they are a mile from my house. Brendyn did my cut. Well go ahead and pencil me in for the next 20 years. FINALLY a decent haircut that grows out right. Mind you, i prefer a scissor cut, not clippers. I didn't tell him that so no points off. I kind of just let them do there thing. You can tell a lot by how different people do the same cut. Be aware its cash only. I keep forgetting that and have to run to atm but they are cool about it. Really happy i gave them a shot. read more

My coworker referred me to this barbershop so I was excited to get off work and try them out right away since on thier listings it states walk-ins are welcome. I arrived at 3:30 and all barbers were cutting someone (which is normal) but no one else was waiting.. Now like I said they do say walk-ins are welcome but they do close @ 4 so unfortunately I was turned away. My hair is not even a half inch on top, I have no beard, and I require a very basic haircut of only the sides. So I was disappointed when it was made to seem a burden by the barber in the front chair saying "sorry, we are all full for the day." It came off as unprofessional to note abide by the closing time they list. So in the end no haircut, although that doesn't mean they give out bad haircuts. read more

Great place for a cut. Coming from LA and being really particular with barbers, it was hard finding a good shop with good barbers here in tempe. Walked in at 10:30 and asked if they took walk ins, immediately was greeted by Allison who set me with a 12:30 appt. Came back at 12 and didnt mind waiting for my appt, but Tim said he would take me since he had time. Everyone was friendly when I arrived. I waited (although appointments are highly recommended) for about 5 minutes. Johnny, my barber, was awesome. My hair has been cut by every barber, and never had a bad cut. But I love the way Ronnie has been cutting mine and my kids hair. I didn't know what to expect at this barber shop. When you walk in, it seems like an Irish pub/barber shop. Lemme just say I've experienced some terrible barbers when it comes to my sons hair (basically any well known hair cut franchise.) we had Eric as our barber and wow my son not only was so happy with his haircut. I was extremely happy lol I couldn't believe this burly man was like "ima just give it little fade "and I was like okkk by the confidence in that statement I knew he was golden. (Btw he's great with little ones, mines was falling asleep while he was cutting his hair). In all honesty these guys are good at their craft! It was a nice shop, the people that worked there all seemed pretty cool. The only issue I had was while the barber was cutting my hair he began a conversation with another customer about tattoos. He proceeded to speak to this gentleman for about 10 minutes while looking at images on the mans phone, all while I was sitting in the chair waiting to get my hair cut finished. Then at the end of my cut he asked me if I wanted a line up. I said yes to which he responded with " oh okay, I thought it looked alright so I wasn't gonna do it." Made an appointment easily and went for a beard trim (my first ever) and a haircut. Allison did an amazing job and was fun and easy to talk to- we laughed quite a bit. She listened to exactly what I wanted, gave me advice when I asked for it (about keeping my new 'Covid" beard in tip-top shape) and gave me the best haircut I've had in years- perfect length, precisely cut and even styled my hair so it looked the best it EVER has. As a man there are few things as important as having a barber you can trust. The guys at Brigade are the holy grail of barbers in AZ. The prices are fair, the service excellent, and the atmosphere is unmatched in my experience.
