I am emotionally exhausted and distressed from my experience. They saw Daisy my 18 year old cat with Cancer for years. Her care was never good, but last night she stopped eating and went downhill quickly. I couldn't get seen by Swansboro emergency (they told me to go to Jacksonville) so I decided to call the vet where Daisy had been seen for years first thing when they opened only to be told she couldn't be seen there and was told to go to the emergency clinic that turned me away the night before. HOW are you a functioning animal hospital when you can help a poor suffering animal and you hang up on the client. Going to shout it as loud and clear as I can YOU ARE a DISGUSTING DISGRACE. We have 4 dogs that are all seen at Brigadoon. They are always very friendly and welcoming when we come in. They take time to answer all our questions and address any concerns we may have. We have been taking our beagles to Brigadoon Animal Hospital for over 25 years. We have a little beagle that has Symmetric Lupoid Onychitis. This is a very painful nail disease. It is difficult to treat and varies with each dog. Hanks nails were sore, some had fallen off, and he was in constant pain. Dr. Morton took time to research and learn the best treatment for our dog. As a result, our little Hank has healthy, pain free nails. We are very thankful to Dr. Morton and Rachel for all the kindness and care they continue to give both of our beagles. You have to wait months to get an appointment. If you get one for a specific time, you're usually waiting another 45 minutes to an hour. From what I've seen, there are constantly new front desk employees.... Oh, if you have a pet that doesn't care for a particular Dr. She will refuse to see your pet! So, NO, I DO NOT RECCOMEND BRIGADOON ANIMAL HOSPITAL in Cedar Point. If she is scared of your pet again, she will refuse to see your pet! I had to pick one star, or it would not let me post. He can be protective and the vet's office can be a stressful place for everyone, but Dr. Morton was extremely patient, kind and understanding. By the end of our visit, our dog was laying on the floor with your amazing technician, letting her pet him (didn't get her name!). All I can say is a very loved young female dog died the day after being spayed there. Its not my story to tell but I will say her family did EVERYTHING right. They brought her right back in the next morning when she wasnt acting right. The vet just gave her something and sent her home. She died 4 hours later in front of the family that took her in from a horribly abusive situation and loved her more then anything and she loved them just as much. She should have been kept for observation at vets office. This is something that shouldnt of happened to this dog and her family. This abused dog finally found a loving caring family and by them trying to do the right thing by her she is now dead. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!! read more

I have to start of by saying that many years ago I had great experiences with Brigadoon. Sadly that has not been the case recently. I took my English Bulldog in for a possible fractured leg as well as a severe skin issue. The employees were very friendly and the wait time was not bad at all. When the vet conducted her exam I asked her if she was going to do an x-ray? She said she would prefer medications because "the skin infection may be causing his limp". I'm a former ER nurse and I began getting concerned. I was given steroids, antibiotics, and pain medication for him. When I got back home I gave him his pain med and he began projectile vomiting. I called and asked for a different medication for him. On the 4th call, many days later, I was told that his chart was on the vet's desk and the vet would call me asap. Well, that's been over 3 weeks ago! The only phonecall that I have gotten from them is to confirm his followup appointment! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? Ummmmm, nope! Will NOT BE BACK!!!! I don't know what has happened over the past few years there, but Brigadoon is no longer the supportive, respectful, and caring clinic it once was. SHAME ON YOU BRIGADOON! Worst service I have ever gotten. Went in as a walk in, big error. Waited for 1 1/2 hours before being called. Was then put in a waiting room and because my dog was not being cooperative we muzzled her. After 30 minutes of waiting in the little room, I left. My dog being muzzled for 30 minutes while they were not working on her is not the way I want my animal treated. I've been to places as a walk-in and never received such awful service. I would not give them even one star if I could have. read more

Our 14 year old cat was suffering from kidney failure and loss of appetite along with other health problems. The kind staff at Brigadoon helped us deal with a devastating situation a day before Hurricane Dorian was due to impact our house on Queen's Creek. Everyone from the front desk staff to the vet who did the final examination was friendly and helpful. This office had a happy, pleasant atmosphere on a day that could have been stressful because of the storm predictions and our late afternoon appointment. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT BRIGADOON'S!! I could write a short story about my experience but I will try to keep it short! My dog went in for a "Fasting Test" for a supposed Liver issue. They were to draw for the test, feed my dog and wait an hour and then draw for the second test so that Dr. Tonya would have a good comparison. (My dog had been on meds for three weeks per Dr. Tonya) Dropped her off at 8:00 am and by 1:00 I had heard nothing. I stopped by only to find out that Dr. Tonya was in an Emergency Surgery and had another surgery to complete after that and they hadn't even drawn the first Test. (I explained to the Vet Tech, who was extremely rude, that I was very certain that Dr. Tonya was not the person who would do the draw for the Test so I did not understand why my do had been sitting in a crate all day when they could have drawn for the first Test, fed my dog, waited the allotted time and done the second draw and called me to come and get her. Dr. Tonya could have then called me with the results. Seemed to be cruel and inhumane treatment to me. I requested her to bring me my dog and ask that Dr. Tonya call me when she was free. Well, she didn't call that evening and I called by on Wednesday and was told that Dr. Tonya wasn't working. I ask to speak to the Office Manager and was told I could send an email! I then ask for the Owner to call me and was ask , WHY??? Dr. Tonya did call me on Thursday morning at 7:00 AM and proceeded to tell me that she was calling me on her way to work. (Yeah!) I ask why the tests had not been immediately done on my dog and she proceeded to go into a rant about the fact that 2.5 million dogs have been bred since the pandemic and that there were not enough Vets! (Not certain how any of that was my fault and besides it was Dr. Tonya that made the appointment for the Fasting Tests, not me. I explained to Dr. Tonya that while I appreciated what she had done, I believed her practice was WAY TOO BIG for my liking and that I would be transferring to another Vet as soon as I could. She then said to me, and I quote, "YOUR DOG'S LIVER IS DEAD"!! PS - I was traveling to WV for and immediately got into my brother's Vet for my dog to be seen and have the test ran . They ran the tests and did two other tests during July and my dog is fine. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT BRIGADOON'S - and I certainly WOULD NOT recommend this Clinic! read more

Well, I don't even know where to start. Let me sum it up by saying, this is not my first time leaving Brigadoon animal Hospital Without my Pets getting serviced despite waiting 40 minutes, and sometimes longer with an appointment. This past time, I called in advance, assured that we had an actual appointment versus a walk- in-time and explained that I am about to deliver a baby anyday as I am at my due date and cannot be waiting in the car for hours like previous times. Like I cannot even drive because I can't fit behind the steering wheel so I need to make sure my husband can be home to drive. They said yep no problem. Well once again that was not the case. They not only do NOT care about your time spent wasted but neither do they care about your pet waiting in the car to be seen. I have been a customer for a while who does all my pets' vaccinations etc. for both my dogs here as well as come for monthly needs for the pups to keep them doing well. They have gotten a lot of money from us over time; I was sickened today when I had to keep asking when will my dog be seen and reiterate how long I've been waiting. Furthermore, when I went to ask for my records because I cannot keep doing this month after month and I need to go elsewhere as I take off from work to be here to never be seen and my dogs' health matters to me. The receptionist called the vet, Dr. Morton, and said a customer has a valid complaint, you should hear this. I reiterated what happened and that it is time for us to find a another veterinarian, Dr. Morton literally just shrugged her shoulders. When she did that I knew she did not care about me as a customer nor my pets. I caution anyone who cares about their pets as family to not waste your time or money. I have to admit I lost my cool as well like fuck it and took my paperwork, one of the vet assistants literally came out laughing and then flipped us off. All I have to say is WOW, you guys are horrendous and I hope every pet lover finds a Vetinary place that actually cares about their customers. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. read more

Terrible phone etiquette/customer service! After being on hold for over 30 mins and living a short drive away I decided to drive to Brigadoon, still on terminal hold. Upon arrival, I watched the front desk staff pick up a ringing phone and put whoever called on hold. There was no one but me at the front when I arrived. I asked why they don't pick up the phone, they explained they were very busy with emegencys. What if I had an emergency? I showed them my cell phone which was still on hold with them. The response was nothing but excuses. If you're so busy, why not take a phone number down and call back? I am trying to call to make an appointment as I write this review and have was placed on terminal hold again. Very frustrating, espically when your animal needs care. read more

While on vacation my dog had an emergency and needed care immediately. I called another vet in the area and they turned me away. (Even though I said my dog was bleeding profusely) (See my review for Swansboro pet care) This establishment welcomed me immediately, took care of my sweet boy, and sent him to surgery shortly after. If you are visiting- I highly recommend this vet 100%. Not only did they see my boy right away- but they were super busy, yet friendly and accommodating. My dog has literally been sitting at the vets office since I had to drop him off this morning at 8am! They said he only needed blood work and X-rays and a urine test done, but I had to call 5 1/2 hour later to check on him just to find out they haven't even done anything with him yet?? I was the first person there since before they opened first person checked in and he was the first dog taken inside, and you tell me the vets are "hoping" to get to him by 2:30p and that this is your down time?? But I bet the people who got there and helped after me have already received their pets back. This is a joke, it was bad enough a month ago when they canceled and changed his neuter appt. for the following week and claimed they called me but neither my husband or I received a phone call, this place is just unprofessional. Needless to say they don't have good communication because my dog was ran a different test and I ended up paying $65 more. I read some of the posts and I'm not sure if we all arrived at the same Office I changed my pets prior office of 20 years to Brigadoon in Cedar Point. We are very pleased with the staff, they've been with us through a hopeful adoption, my pets did not take to the new kitty and they took her back no questions asked. She is staying with them as an office pet until adopted. They initially took her in when someone disguarded her while pregnant. This speaks well of the Veteranarian as a group. The atmospheres is not crowded and while it is an office representing pet it does not have an overpowering odor .... we can all appreciate that. Definitely visit the office and talk to the staff about the Doctors, I did.... I was given a recommendation that would fit my pets needs. read more

I had to put down 2 of my senior dogs in the last month. I had called around to other vet clinics who wanted to make an appointment. Our first dog was in so much pain it wasn't fair to her. When we called Brigadoon, they said we had been through enough and come in as soon as we could. They had a bed and blankets on the floor for her. The staff was kind and courteous. They even wrapped her for us afterwords to take her home. It was because of this that when I had to put my 16 yr old down we chose them as well. They came out to our car so we could lay in the back seat where she was. The staff is so empathic for your loss and it's not something you see often anymore. read more

Unfortunately I could not give this animal hospital zero stars, the lowest Yelp would allow me to give was one. I've been to this animal hospital four times now in the last three months. Each time I had made an appointment. Each time I had to wait over an hour and a half to get service, but only after I went up and asked what was going on. I would always get the same excuse, "oh we are so sorry, we are really backed up today. " I came to realize it's not that they were backed up, it is that they're in capable of figuring out how to schedule appointments. For example if you only have 2 animal doctors, you can't schedule 12 appointments at the same time. This is what they were doing. It was more then frustrating. One of the appointments I just went in to pick up worm medication, you would figure a simple in and out in 10 or 15 min. Nope 2 hrs because they claimed to be busy. If you can't afford to wast tour time, don't bother going to this place. They simply don't care about your time, or at least that is the vibe I felt after my 4th visit. Not going back. read more

Boarded my cat for 3 nights. Was supposed to be 5 nights but I was so freaked out the first day I made a plan to get her out of there as soon as humanly possible. They permanently board "vet house cats". Four while my cat was there. I believe they run around in the room when a customer is not in there. Which I believe asking to go in that area isn't the norm but I did. Took her out each day as long as I could. The cat in the cage beside mine had a bad spine injury (or something maybe spleen) and can't hold his urine properly. Smelled really bad every time I went in. They tend to the animals well I am positive and clean every morning but that cat's urine smelled everything up. Her bedding, litter box (hers I took in with pellets), carrying case, food bag etc. Now I am driving home for 2 days and can't do anything about the stink until I get home. Tried talking to the manager just now and she says all cats stink and that cat is not the problem. I wish they would have told me they had a full room of permanent cats as I know I was told space for 2 boarders. She didn't see any problem - except me. It was an awful experience for my cat. Don't board there if you can help it. I love cats but I'm not understanding the quality of life for them in that room forever, but especially the very injured cat. read more

I have to say THIS veterinary office BRIGADOON was the find of a LIFETIME. I have been to a MAJORITY of the veterinary offices here in the Jacksonville/Hubert/Swansboro area. I KNOW I have found my permanent office. The people here at Brigadoon have been so helpful/sweet/attentive EVERY TIME I have been there... ESPECIALLY when I NEEDED HELP with my sweet Mochiro. He was 12 years old having a seizure and he was dying and I was in tears... he was suffering and I couldn't find a vet to help me WITHOUT HAVING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. On this day/time a MAJORITY of the veterinary offices weren't opened for appointments. So we were calling and driving trying to find an office to help us and opened for appointments. Brigadoon took us in IMMEDIATELY and helped us through a VERY hard time/loss of our fur-baby Mochiro. We tried to visit Brigadoon earlier this summer for our dog's severe ear infection, but the vet assistants lied to us about the ability to be seen and were highly rude and unprofessional on-site. I would not advise anyone take their pet to this vet. We called in advance at 2:00pm and were told "the office is on break now until 2:30pm and at that time we will take the first 6 pets as walks ins. After that we will be at capacity for the day." We showed up at 2:20pm to ensure we were one of the first six customers and ended up being second in line. Upon reaching the front desk, the team said they were completely full with no availability and said they weren't taking walk ins even though it was now 2:30pm and we met their prior requirement dictated over the phone. They also refused to acknowledge this conversation with us just 20 min prior. They said the earliest they could see our dog now was 2 months later. The front desk team was highly rude, unprofessional, and lacked any empathy about our pet with his condition. Take your pet to other more compassionate and honest vets in the area. read more

Recently, our little poodle was very sick & we were a walk in on a Monday morning. They were extremely busy & asked us to come back at 2:30 which we did. They had a lot of sick pets to see that day! Not sure what happened, but we weren't seen until close to 5:00- only reason for 4 . DVM Timothy Pearson was great! So caring & he listened to us, I love the way he says Y'all! He's helped us countless times. Let me tell you about Rachel at the front desk, had a chance to watch & listen to her interact w customers ALL DAY. I'd give her 20 if I could! What a lovely young lady. It was chaotic at times & she was polite, friendly, cool as a cucumber under all that stress! She's an asset to this office; even offering an older gentleman to make him a cup of coffee. Thank you Dr. & Rachel for making a miserable day a little better. Rusty is getting better too. I brought my pug in as an emergency visit on my way home from vacation for stress related panting. I didn't have an appointment - just a dog I was very worried about. I walked in and was treated with courtesy and concern for my dog. The vet was wonderful. She treated her with oxygen and cooling pads to relieve the panting and knew just what my pug needed. I would highly recommend Brigadoon Animal Hospital. If you are visiting on Emerald Isle it is not far from the bridge. read more

This Thanksgiving I was thinking of all I have to be thankful for. There is so much but there is one that we are reminded of every day, our wonderful kitty, Maysie. She has been cared for from the start by the very special staff at Brigadoon. I will call out specifically Dr. Puett who was her first and current doc. When Maysie started dragging her hindquarter early in her life, Dr. P diagnosed some pretty severe congenital skeletal problems. A little later he performed surgery on this tiny kitty. It must have been very difficult to operate on such a small creature but after her recovery period, she was as good as new. Today she is a healthy and happy super tree climber. This review is only on the person who I spoke to today. I took my sister's dog in hoping the vet could look at her ear-(for an ear infection.) The lady was very short with me and matter of fact...no empathy at all! We did not have an appointment, the walk in time frame had ended 40 minutes earlier, and they had a few emergencies come in. I totally understand that and am not bothered at all our dog could not be seen. I'm bothered with the curt rude lady and it was obvious she could care less if our dog got taken care of. I even asked if she knew of another vet we could go to. She shook her head and said no I doubt any are open. So off to Banfield at Petsmart.....BTW Banfield people were very pleasant and even let me email our dog's last shot record! read more

Great staff with multiple vets in the practice. I've had up to 4 dogs going there at a time and they all get great care. We've had some issues that required trips to the NCSU Vet School and the vets here were great about getting us referred and helping with our questions. Prices are reasonable and you can usually get a same day appointment if your pet has an issue. read more

Just moving to the area and had not established a new vet yet. I had to put my 14 year old dog to sleep due to cancer. I called to schedule an appointment to come in. I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Once my call was answered, I asked how much it would cost to have my dog put down and was told $113. When I got there with the dog, I was charged $248. I was of course upset at the time and just paid the bill. The next day I called around to other vets in the area to get prices for the same and was told $30-$75. I called Brigadoon back and asked why I was charged so much, explaining that I had called around and got much cheaper prices. I was told "that's how much we charge here". I feel I was taken advantage of while going through a crisis with my pet. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET TO ANY ONE! read more

I was worried they wouldn't see her because I didn't have her shot records and didn't even have a appointment as I just walked in the door asking to see the Vet. The staff was so nice and friendly. They called my Vet from home and got her records and we saw Dr. Russ Ganey within 10 minutes. I highly recommend this animal Hospital. read more
