We've had a pretty rotten experience with this company in regards to a fairly large electrical project we contracted with them. During their review of our needs, we did a main panel upgrade, relocation of our subpanel to the garage, extension of all circuits and wiring, service line upgrade to 200amps, as well as installation of exhaust fans in each of our bathrooms. 07/31/2025 - We signed the contract with them to begin work 08/26/2025 - The initial phase of work was completed pending city permits, meter release, PGE inspection, and new service line. At this point, we paid the majority of the payments for the work. As first-time homeowners, we were probably naive making the payments we did and not having an agreed-upon payment schedule in the contract. But this also felt very predatory of them to request a specific payment amount knowing what percentage of work still actually remained. The second phase of work - connecting all the new circuits, finishing the installation of the sub panel and main panel, and connecting the new exhaust fans could not be completed until the above steps were finished. We then had multiple PGE appointments cancelled and rescheduled for unknown reasons and they wouldn't provide any information. PGE later told us that the electrician didn't submit all of the required documentation by a specific deadline. 03/31/2026 (current status) - They have not completed any remaining work. They submitted the permit application back in October 2025, but never paid the fees and obtained the required permit and meter release to complete the remaining work. We have a main panel upgrade, new subpanel, and bathroom exhaust fans that still aren't functional. We have spent 7 months emailing them, texting them, and trying to call them with no response from the owner, Jacob. Their front office does answer the phone, but they are not responsive beyond that. We have also sent them a physical letter requesting the work to be completed, and still have not received a response. The electricians that did the work, Aaron and Ozzy, seemed competent and thorough with their work, but this project has just been a disaster causing stress and anxiety for over 7 months now. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend them for anything beyond a simple fix or upgrade. read more

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I don't have a regular electrician so I used Thumbtack and rolled the dice on Bright Design. It was super easy to schedule. They even called me to see if they could come sooner. Jacob (owner) and Luke (project manager) arrived right on time. Took careful assessment of several items. Even fixed a couple of simple things at no charge. They then thoroughly explained what they thought needed to be done and discussed the options with me in very clear and easy terms. Great customer service! I requested a quote to help install my ring doorbell and they were responsive and didn't charge to come to my house. It was up to me once the electrician got there to review and decide if I'd like to move forward with the services. Unfortunately my ring doorbell didn't come with the correct parts. Luke was thorough in going over my needs, room by room and giving me an honest estimate of the cost and the time necessary for the job. Then Luke and Aldi came and did the work. Luke wired a power inlet box to a new circuit and installed an interlock kit in my service panel to power certain circuits by my generator if the power grid goes down. I typically only write reviews when a service or product is exceptionally good or bad. I called Bright Design to troubleshoot a circuit breaker and GFCI outlet that kept tripping. Jacob came out and did a bunch of troubleshooting and made a simple fix that resolved our problem. He could have easily recommended some other more costly fixes but didn't. I cannot say enough about the excellent service we received from Bright Design Electric. After a year of living in our house we began having problems with a few of our breakers tripping constantly, and all of a sudden. Jacob came out and immediately accessed the problem, replaced a few of our breakers (that were the wrong size) and probably saved us from frying all of our appliances (and possibly something much worse...). We recently purchased a home that had several jobs requiring an electrician. We had landscape lights (Entire backyard) and flood lights that didn't turn on and a few other issues. Jacob at Bright Design was extremely responsive. He came by on a Saturday and quickly troubleshooted the issues. He fixed the landscape lights and we installed a smart wi-fi outlet so we can control them via an app on my phone. He figured out the issue with the flood lights as well and suggested a way to improve their appearance and longevity.
