We were having intermittent power issues in our home in Windsor. We called PG&E who verified that voltage coming from their transformer was within range. He recommended we call an Electrician. I didn't know any so I headed for Yelp. I contacted two with good reviews and they discovered a scary arcing issue in the breaker box. We ended up hiring Ongaro & Sons and felt calmer the minute I called. Jeanne in the office was so professional and helpful. She set up a site visit right away. When Corbin arrived, his confidence, his abilities, and knowledge were impressive. He understood exactly what the cause was and the solution. Unfortunately, the remedy was a replacement panel $$$. We agreed. He knew about a recent change in PG&E's "Green Book" that would allow our panel to be installed in the original footprint but he explained that the new system would need to be grounded to water and gas. He immediately contacted PG&E and Town of Windsor to start permits and scheduling. Chad and Alex showed up on Monday morning at 7:30, ready to go. They professionally prepared the site for PG&E to turn off the power and then they got to work on removing all of the breakers and installing the new set of Eaton breakers. They used the crawl space under the house to run the grounding wiring and the work was completed by early afternoon. They left the site clean and did an excellent job of making a new wood frame for the panel. Alex showed us everything that he had done and it was an awesome sight to see after multiple days of worrying about the arcing issue turning into something very serious. Thank you Ongaro! The Ongaro service man was very good at his job. but he should have told me he'd like to switch from metal pipe to plastic pipes. And, He should have written down what work he did so I could give that to the Landlord. I had Ongaro & Sons complete an electrical panel upgrade. The job did get finished, but the overall experience was painful and produced a less than ideal product. They charged my bank account for the full project amount before the work was completed and the tech onsite did not know the list of corrections communicated. To their credit, they did return and correct the items, but only after significant follow-up, and the premature charge was never addressed. This is not the Ongaro we grew up with. Read the one star reviews and you'll see a pattern. Service comes out and decides a system is unsafe and recommends an expensive new system. You know why? Because service is on COMMISSION / INCENTIVE and when you offer service a commission on selling new systems guess what happens. They become sales people. On top of that they now tell you at the end of the service appointment they have recorded the conversation for "artificial intelligence." If you decide to ignore the one star reviews, be sure you get a second opinion when they tell you your hot water heater or your home heating system is unsafe. You'll be glad you did. read more

We had a really positive experience with Ongaro & Sons on a recent home project. It's always a gamble when you have an emergency plumbing situation and need someone but don't know who to choose. We got lucky with our situation when they were the only ones that could get to our house quickly to fix our main water shutoff value problem. All of the other plumbers I called either couldn't get here within a reasonable amount of time or didn't bother to call me back (Peter Levi Plumbing!). Ongaro & Sons was not only prompt but offered to arrive earlier than expected. Juan Donan Barragan was the plumber from O&S that did the work. He put us at ease right away, assuring us that what was broken could be fixed. We really appreciated that after worrying about the issue all weekend. He quickly put together the estimate that seemed quite fair and got to work straight away. Within a short time, Juan had replaced all of the broken components and our water was back on. It was a really good first experience with O&S, 100% due to Juan's professionalism. As a result, we're going to hire O&S to do more plumbing work that we've needed to get done and we're requesting that Juan does the work. Every plumbing situation is different and every plumber that does that work will vary obviously. TL;DR - The Ongaro technician never had any intention of fixing my water heater, or even identifying the problem with it. His ONLY goal was to sell me a brand new water heater. My water heater stopped heating water, so I called Ongaro immediately because I'd heard great things about them. That was the last time I had a positive opinion of Ongaro. First, the technician arrived within the last 10 minutes of the 2-hour window. Why do they do that? Would it be so hard for them to call ahead and say, "Hi, we will be there in about an hour and a half, we appreciate your patience"? When he arrived, he looked at my water heater for about 3 minutes and immediately started telling me how much he would charge me to fix the problem. Didn't test a single thing, didn't unscrew anything on the water heater to look inside, didn't test any of the circuitry - nothing. Just immediately launched into telling me it would cost hundreds of dollars to attempt a repair, which would not be guaranteed to actually fix the water heater, or much more than that to replace it entirely. A day later, I got the quotes--$938 to replace the thermostats and heating elements (note that the parts would cost a total of around $50), or $5,194 to get a whole new water heater. Still no diagnosis of the problem. Obviously, I wanted to get a second opinion before I spent that much money, so I called Henry Mechanical. They came out and told me essentially the same thing--$900 to attempt a fix, or $3800 to replace. I was still skeptical about both of these bids, so I asked a friend to come out and check it out, too. He brought his multimeter (apparently neither Ongaro nor Henry can afford multimeters, or maybe their technicians don't know how to use them) and within 10 minutes he figured out that there was no problem with the thermostats, heating elements, or any other circuitry in the water heater. After another 10 minutes, he had figured out that the only problem was the electrical breaker serving the water heater. He then replaced the breaker for $100 total cost, and my water heater works perfectly. Absolute scum, just out to steal good people's hard-earned money. read more

I've had nothing but a negative experience Ongaro. We installed a new furnace on 11/5/25 and paid extra to get their support on finalizing the permit. After many calls, to them and their 3rd party group... on 4/22/25 I was forced to hire another hvac company - at an additional cost -- to get required repairs on the installation done. Ongaro has a difficult phone system where it's hard to get the right people on the phone. They totally dropped the ball and screwed up our permit process and put the sale of our house at jeopardy as this was a mandated item. I do not recommend this company. They are expensive and don't complete their work. Would give them 0 stars if that was an option. read more

Not good. Got the run around when they had to follow up on an error that was made in replacing my hot water heater. Their AI answering system and sales focus results in the usual issues related to profit over customer service. More importantly, their quotes were the highest of any plumbers I have subsequently used. For a toilet fill valve and flapper replacement, their quote was $458. I ended up paying $260. To replace all of the fixtures in a shower tub combination (owner supplied) $934.72. I ended up paying $325 by a plumber who took his time and helped me pick out the appropriate hardware!! I have had a faulty, Takagi tankless water heater for far too long. The company technical support was terrible and the company certified technician was clueless. I finally opted to replace it with a Navien NPE-240A2. I called on Ongaro to do that work knowing, from my history with them, that they know what they're doing. The service person, Jeff Graham, was brilliant. The install went smoothly, Jeff took steps to minimize any noise and vibrations from the water heater motor, and checked all our faucets to make sure the recirculation system worked as designed. A day later, and now, finally, it takes only a few seconds for hot water to flow from all our faucets. Thank you Jeff and thank you Ongaro. read more

Heating/Cooling Maintenance Program - We started the maintenance program with them recently. Servicing the AC and furnace is no fun during peak season when issues could have been avoided with annual maintenance check ups. Brandon was our tech today and he did above and beyond what was expected. He came prepared having read the notes from a previous technician. He evaluated our entire HVAC and whole house fan system and reporting on conditions that were preventing the system from working at peak efficiency. He provided photos and videos of his findings along the way so that I could make decisions on the spot whether to proceed or postpone future work. I don't understand all of the technical aspects but he did a great job of explaining (by showing readings on his testing equip) how our system could be optimized. When it came to preparing an estimate on future work, he was able to pull up costs in real time and summarize the work and gave options for keeping the work reasonable. This isn't our first experience with Ongaro over the years. Probably our third tech and each were equally proficient and qualified. Notification reminders and appt time updates were texted prior to the appt. I highly recommend them for HVAC service. read more
