Upon having our master shower remediated for mold through our home insurance policy, we were on the hunt for a company that could reconstruct the shower. I submitted a request through Yelp, and Global Prevention Services responded and got me scheduled for a consultation immediately. Shortly after this consultation, the Global Prevention Services Project Coordinator, Kimberly, put together several service estimates for me, as we weren't yet sure the direction we wanted to go with the shower tile. Kimberly was patient with us as we picked out materials and went back and forth on what we wanted to do! Due to our mold experience, we ultimately decided we wanted to limit the amount of grout in the shower, in hopes of minimizing the chances of it failing. With that, we started the reconstruction! Throughout the whole process, Kimberly and Rudy, the project manager, were incredibly thorough, communicative, and overall, just really helpful. We could not be more grateful for the time and effort both Kimberly and Rudy spent trying to make our shower dreams come true. I would also love to give a shout out to all of the guys who helped load and unload HUGE porcelain slabs -- that is no easy feat! At the time, they pointed out the issues with how our house roof was initially installed that resulted in a lot of costly water damage. We also had a tubular skylight installed 25 years ago and they showed us pictures of the deterioration around it. The original installer, Solatube, addressed our concerns quickly and installed new flashing. (Solatube is another great company) We are very pleased that we found VHB Roofing and feel relieved that we don't have to be concerned about our roof.

Within days to months of the original repair, I experienced continued leaks and had to request multiple return visits. During one of those attempts, a new leak was actually created in an adjoining room, causing additional damage to my home and furniture. I was in direct contact with the owner, Kirk, who personally came out to inspect not only the leak itself but the damage that resulted from it. He apologized and assured me the issues would be taken care of. Unfortunately, after that, communication stopped completely and all accountability disappeared. To this day, the problems were never properly resolved. I still have the correspondence, photos, and documentation to support everything stated here. Mistakes can happen with any company. What matters is how they handle them. In my experience, the lack of follow-through, integrity, and accountability is what should make potential customers think twice before hiring this company.

We also installed new cabinets and a wine cooler while demolishing a built-in entertainment center. The bulk of the project was done in eight weeks, including two significant change requests made by us: 1. The concrete floor was cracked and very uneven. My foreman identified this issue, told us how he would repair and level it, and then spent a few days pouring a new floor and leveling it. If he didn't address this floor issue our new to be installed engineered floors would have cracked over time. 2. We decided to paint almost the entire place well into the project, so work was delayed while the painters did this new work. What was great about the project: 1. The sales process was easy and reactive. Paul visited with us a number of times and helped with all of the planning. 2. We were assigned two interior designers. I worked closely with one, and she helped me pick out new appliances that had to fit into very tight places. She even told me that the appliance sales people I'd ultimately work with would try to correct me. Her recommendations were made with surgical precision, a centimeter in some cases. It was really impressive. 3. Their demolition crew was unbelievably efficient. They took this whole place apart in about nine total hours. The cleanup was impeccable. 4. The project manager engineered the entire thing. The workers knew what needed to be done, especially when he wasn't on site. 5. I met various workers and contractors. I was shocked by how good their work product was. The flooring person was excellent and extremely prescient. All of the workers really enjoyed working together, which was reflected in their work. I think this is also a reflection on how they liked working with Holtzman. 6. After the project was complete we met with a post-project coordinator afterwards, and told us what to do if we were at all unsatisfied. 7. When Holtzman contacted us with questions we provided immediate answers. There were a lot of decision points on material items, which I was happy to answer so the project stayed on course and details weren't skipped over. Every detail was addressed, and it shows. We have more projects in the works, and we expect to be working with Holtzman.

I met with three roofing companies that had outstanding reviews on Google and Yelp. I am sure I would have been pleased with any of the three of them, but I am really glad I went with Johnson Roofing. My experience with them started with Miguel Cepeda. His presentation was clear and detailed. He explained all aspects of the project and how they would get the job done. He recommended a few things that we're different than the competition. I was especially impressed with his explanation about venting and the specific vents he was recommending to replace my current vents. Most importantly, Johnson Roofing what's the only company that offered an easy to apply for payment plan through a bank that offered 12 months interest-free financing. We don't really see what any of these roofing companies are doing in detail while the project is being completed. So we normally have to go on faith that they did everything important and with the highest quality. At the end of the project, Miguel reviewed all the work with me via photos that were taken during the project. I could see in detail that a lot of plywood was replaced. Some companies might not have been as thorough or willing to do some of the things that Johnson did on its own. The review with Miguel gave me total comfort that's the job was done properly. The cleanup was excellent and so was the crew.

So this is going to be a rather long review. There were a couple of hiccups along the way to…read moregetting my roof replaced, but in the end, Payne/Integrity Roofing did a great job on my roof. I can't overstate how the two installers went above and beyond. They not only did a stellar job of the install, they kept the site clean, and offered extra help as well. But... there is a saga here. My insurance company, who will NOT be getting a nice review, demanded that I replace my entire roof. After having a number of different companies over to see the job, I got estimates which ranged from around 5,000 to over 10,000. This is a 709 square foot house, just a simple roof. The house was built in 1963, so I expected there would need to be some lumber replaced. Payne Roofing was not the cheapest, they were right in the middle, but because of the way they answered questions, and their knowledge, they were the company I decided to go with. Now for the first hiccup: The finance company they use is called ProFund. Steer clear! They offered me "financing" with a 10% charge added to the job, and then 10% annually (I was planning to refinance this along with a few other projects). What they didn't tell me is HOW they were getting the funds. They required my checking account information. Next thing I know, they went in and EMPTIED MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. So they could lend MY OWN money back to me with interest! After a few phone calls, I got my money back, and Payne, who had received the down payment from ProFund actually hand delivered the refund check to me the next day. Do not use Profund. Do. not. A few months later, I got the financing to do the roof, and called them up. The job price was the same, minus the 10% additional charge. The two installers were professional, polite, outstanding, they helped me move some stuff, and for an additional fee, the company allowed me to get rid of some construction stuff in their dumpster. When they saw me moving it, they insisted on helping me. They were awesome. Now to the second hiccup. I drove in and saw that they were installing the wrong colored shingles. I called up the company, no drama, no problem, they admitted it was a mistake on their end, and with just a day of delay, the right shingles were on the house. They installed a vent at the peak of the roof, and did a great job with the flashing and edging, it all looks really nice. There were additional charges for the lumber that had to be replaced, but none of it was unnecessary, and the cost was reasonable. They sent me photos of the roof and the job they had done, and now we get to the third and last hiccup: Me. I looked at the pictures of the shingles, and on many of them a black line at the top of the shingles was visible. I had just enough knowledge to be dangerous in this situation. I thought that if you install shingles, and a black line is visible, you have done the job wrong. I also thought the way the roof penetrations were done was wrong. I was very rude and upset when I called. OK. I admit it... I may have... well I did. I Karened. In my defense, however, I have gotten ripped off quite a few times, and I was in a panic because of the Insurance Company That Shall Not Be Named. They were threatening to not renew my homeowner's insurance if the roof wasn't completed. The deadline was within 2 weeks, and here I had convinced myself that the roof was not done correctly, and not only was I going to have the house damaged the next time it rained, there would be no insurance to cover anything. I have a friend who is in the construction business looked at the photos, and explained to me that yes, just as Mr. Payne had told me, (and I had doubted him), that's what they are SUPPOSED to look like. He also mentioned that Payne has been around for years, and among other professionals, they have a good reputation. He also looked at the pictures of the treatments of the penetrations on the roof, and said they were fine. I called up Payne Roofing and apologized. So, I would recommend this company in the strongest terms. They went above and beyond, their prices were fair and reasonable, the workmanship was good, and when there were bumps in the road, they handled them. They were responsive and polite even when, I have to admit it, I wasn't. You can trust these guys.

She told us that she had to scrub her bathroom that was left filthy after workers used it WITHOUT HER PERMISSION. John Roe was beyond rude and dropped the ball on us, leaving us high and dry AFTER MONTHS of waiting. Looking at other reviews, I see we're not the only ones they did this to. IF you value your house and your time, I'd go elsewhere. Anywhere. Just not here.
