I decided to go over to Bright Pharmacy to have a conversation with Patrick the Pharmacy manager about my desire to switch my prescriptions away from a big box store. The number one thing everyone should think about is that the better relationship you have with your pharmacy, the better they can help you. Patrick couldn't have been nicer, kinder, and gave me the confidence to make the change. The day I went to fill my 1st script, Patrick wasnt working and had to deal with Roy the other pharmacist. Had the same conversation about my history and medical issues. 2 for 2!!! He was just as kind, and gave me the reassurance that relationships with patients matter. Tip to all: if you want a good experience, take a moment to introduce yourself and help them get to know you. Just like any good physician, make an effort to help them get to know you and they'll show you what it means to be a good neighborhood pharmacy! I've been coming to this Pharmacy for 30 years and since it changed ownership it has changed, first it was the staff, then the pharmacist and know they aren't open on Saturday. This place is going down hill. To bad, time for me to find another pharmacy. read more

Technician Valdez was very unprofessional and the reason I will never come back to Bright Pharmacy. She knew I was in active pain. I had been calling all day about my pain medication and of course when I arrive my MORPHINE is still not ready and she literally worked like a turtle, on purpose. If I could leave ZERO review I would. They are the absolute worst pharmacy I have ever dealt. They said they had my prescription in stock. By the time they had it transferred (they had to transfer it), they no longer had it in stock and would have to put me in order on the list. They said I was #1 on the list. After calling almost every day for a month to see if my prescription was in, they kept saying they still hadn't gotten it in. After a month, now they say my insurance doesn't cover it and I would have to do a mail order. That made no sense. CVS had filled it previously and why would Bright Pharmacy wait a month before supposedly figuring out that my insurance doesn't cover it. I call BS. They lied saying they had it in stock and lied saying I was #1 on the list. read more

This information has been reported to the California State Board Pharmacy and Better Business Bureau prior to me writing this Yelp review. Previously, my neurologist had electronically sent in 2 prescriptions for me in August 2019. When I called to check on them, the pharmacy said they had only received one, and I asked them to call the doctor's office for them. I went back and forth with them because the pharmacy was blaming my doctor's office, but the doctor's office said they had sent everything over. I went to the neurologist for a follow-up appointment in October where he hand-wrote my prescriptions so there were no questions about how many medications needed to be filled. When I dropped off my prescription, the pharmacist, Patrick, came to talk to me and said that they didn't have these medications in stock and pushed my written prescription back to me (this should've been a clue as to how they handle their business). I told him I didn't need the medication right this second, and that I would wait for him to order them. He seemed to reluctantly take my written prescription. A week later, I called to check up on my prescription. I was told that they could only order one and neither were covered by my insurance. I told them that wasn't true because I had been getting this medication for years. They told me I needed to call my insurance company. They also told me they were charging me $355 for one prescription and $175.52 for the other one, totalling $530.52 for two prescriptions. I called my insurance company and they said both of my medications WERE COVERED and were a copay of $40 each, which was a total of $80 - a VERY BIG PRICE DIFFERENCE from $530 that they were trying to charge me. My insurance company got involved and personally called them several times to explain how they should be billing it since they were not putting it through. I called several times asking about my medication, and they said that they could only fill it as a generic and not name brand as was specified because it wouldn't be covered by my insurance (this is not true, the insurance even spoke to them about it). When I told Karen that this is not true and the insurance already told me they spoke with her about this, I made a 3-way call with Karen and my insurance, which then Karen contradicted her story and said they would need to order the name brand. This went on for over 2 weeks!! After nearly 3 weeks of me calling the pharmacy, my insurance (Blue Shield) calling the pharmacy with both a customer service rep AND pharmacist, Bright Plaza Pharmacy told the Blue Shield pharmacist that they are refusing to fill my prescription because they will lose money. Blue Shield told the pharmacy that they could fill out a claim to be reimbursed for their lost money, and again, Bright Plaza Pharmacy REFUSED to do that. They REFUSED to fill my prescription, and they refused to fill out the form to be reimbursed. This is very alarming for multiple reasons. Number one, they are a pharmacy and are supposed to fill prescriptions for customers. Apparently, they do not fill prescriptions they don't want to; they pick and choose what they want to fill. Number two, if I was not insistent, and just took their word as being true, I would not have my medication as I've had for years. If I would've just assumed they knew what they were talking about, I would be without medication I need. Number three, if I didn't know the cost of my prescriptions and get my insurance company involved, they would've charged me $530.52 for two prescriptions that should only cost $80. That is a difference of $450.52!!! That is a lot of money!! Who else are they doing this to?????? Number four, what happens with people who are on expensive medication for life-threatening illnesses, or older people who need certain medication? Does Bright Plaza Pharmacy refuse their prescriptions and/or tell them lies like they did to me that their insurance doesn't cover it? This is against the law!! You cannot charge an obscene amount of money for prescriptions when the insurance says the copay is $40, AND then they have the audacity to REFUSE to fill the prescriptions because they'll lose money (even when insurance has offered to reimburse them). This is unacceptable. There are people who rely on their medication to live day-to-day, and this pharmacy is ripping people off and telling them lies. How many people's lives have been negatively affected because of their greedy actions?!?!? read more

I could not ask for a more professional business. They never hesitate to help and they call you by name and say hi when you come in. Your treated like a human not just a price tags. They have helped several times with my insurance getting my husband's medication approved. Once they caught an antibiotic that would interfere with one of my husband medication and called the doctor for a new one. If my son has to go pick up a prescription, they tell him any information needed and always ends with telling him to tell me to get better. These are the things important to me. When my husband passed away in June Pat the Pharmacist called me at home to give me his sincere condolences. That was the best. At a time like that someone you do business with takes the time to treat you like a friend. I can't say enough about how well I feel treated and know that my medication is being processed properly. I wish I could say something positive about this local pharmacy in Whittier. Its been here for many years. The few times I've come in was to have a prescription filled after taking our daughter to the urgent care clinic, which is in the same building. I can understand their attention and concentration is needed to fill prescriptions is crucial, I for one appreciate it. But, to ignore and not show any interest to incoming customers is wrong. Everyone in this place needs to open their eyes and take a "I can be nice to our customer" course OR pop a "Smile, I can be friendly" pill. Ahhh! I feel better now. read more

If I could give zero stars I would that is how I feel about Bright pharmacy right now. It is always a struggle to get filled this past year and a half. They used to have top notch service in the pharmacy department however now they're always saying you call the doctor and when they get the prescription finally filled they never called us to let us know one time it took over three weeks for a prescription to be filled. Mercy who I happen to speak with this morning tone of voice was that she was laughing because I couldn't get the prescription filled even after I told her my husband was leaving tomorrow for a trip and they've had the prescription for over a week. She said just call the doctor I said fine we will call the doctor and I will make sure that after this we no longer get any more prescriptions filled and she said that's perfectly fine obviously they don't need our business. So don't go there anymore if you expect quick reliable service. read more

When I went into the store to pick up RX. Our Dr. Did not call in both of our prescriptions. It was Friday and I was going to call Dr office on Monday and figure what happened. But Bright Pharmacy took care of everything without my asking them. Bright pharmacy also delivered the RX directly to my home, no charge. My doctor who practices in the same building sent my Rx to the pharmacy to be filled because my local pharmacist did not have med in stock. I waited 5 days for Bright to contact me with pick-up info. Nothing. So I called to verify it was ready. I live 26 miles away and traffic is just terrible during the holidays. Anyway, the staff member told me they did not have any insurance information. She could not answer my question if anyone had tried to call me (which they did not). So since no insurance, the prescription was sitting waiting to be filled. She told me if I went in I would have to wait an hour for them to verify insurance, prepare the prescription, count the pills, and finalize it. Question...what if I was a cash paying customer? They just do not fill prescriptions if a patient is not in their system?! This is a sad way to treat people who need medication. Since several days had passed, I called my local pharmacy and they had the med in stock. I transferred the prescription and picked it up close to home. Good bye Bright Plaza Pharmacy. Not sure why all the low reviews. I have been using this Pharmacy for about three years. The staff is always polite and pleasant. Every time I have used the automated system my prescriptions are ready on time. On the occasions I have dropped them off, they are ready within 15-20 minutes. Anyhow just my experience. read more

The pharmacists and staff were extremely helpful while I was in California for two months as a co-caregiver. Had to visit this pharmacy after my little one was placed on a breathing treatment and had to pick up his medication and machine for the breathing treatment. They were contacted by my child's pediatrician's office and worked gave me such a reasonable price for the nebulizer because they knew that my insurance would take days to approve it (and I needed it right away). Y the time I arrived, I only waited a few minutes for my medication and was on my way out. Courteous and knowledgeable staff! read more

I like Bright better than CVS or Target cause hard to get meds aren't as hard to get with Bright. Only one complaint is they are always out of my prescription and waiting till they get it really puts me behind which the date to take them is the day your supposed too. Very disappointed with this pharmacy. I recently purchased a digital thermometer, asked the clerk if it was a good. She said yes, and that I could return it if dissatisfied. In fact, the thermometer did not work so I tried to return it 4 days later, with a receipt, not for a refund but for a different brand. They said no, advising me to call the manufacturing company directly to get recourse or maybe a refund. I find this very unprofessional and misleading. They sold it therefore they should be the party that returns it, not the customer. This is one of the reasons customers go to a large chain, such as CVS. The large chains will not usually refer you to the manufacturer. They simply return the defective item themselves and resolve the issue with the customer by either refund or a replacement item. I do not.recommend this pharmacy to anyone. read more

I was quite disappointed. I was thinking this was a medical supply store. They sell medical equipment, but the employees (although very nice) do not have as much knowledge as I would like. I spent $100 on an item that made my condition worse & of course I could not take it back. I have been filling my prescriptions at BPP for over 10 years. During all of my visits, the pharmacists and staff have been very informative and friendly. The convenience of having a pharmacy inside the medical building is ideal. I especially like the phone and on-line refill feature the pharmacy offers, as well as the option to have your prescriptions delivered. I have been in the pharmacy numerous times when they are extremely busy and I have always been greeted in a quick manner and my prescriptions have been filled very timely. I love the feel of a "neighborhood" pharmacy. It is refreshing to have a sense of community. I would recommend BPP! read more

I use this pharmacy for convenience sometimes. Hasn't been too bad so far, until this evening. I dropped a prescription for my son yesterday and was told they we're out and it needed to be ordered and would be ready tomorrow afternoon. So back to pick up the meds and turns out it wasn't ready and not ordered. So they give me a couple to hold me over, as I'm leaving I am stopped and asked to pay the co pay for the prescription, ok , no problem. I wait for a while because I can see there's some confusion with the prescription, no problem, stuff happens. So I pay the co pay. Before leaving I reiterate ,to the girl helping me,(who was very nice btw)about the meds being ready for sure tomorrow, she says yes, and again , I reiterate, are we sure because they told me they would be ready today so I just want to be sure. Here is why 2 stars , maybe petty but it was bothersome, a lady from the back starts yelling over the counter, I can only see the top of her head , says sorry but you were givin wrong information and we ordered them and so on and so on. I feel like if you're trying to apologize, if that's what she was trying to do, at least walk around and talk face to face instead of rudely interrupting and yelling from behind the scenes. What's the point of having a convenient pharmacy in the building if it doesn't stock commonly prescribed medicine. My father had a stroke and was being released from the hospital the next day with a feeding tube and a regimen of GLUCERNA 1.2 as his only nutritional source. This is a special order item and every pharmacy I called had never heard of it or had no interest in helping me find it. I called BRIGHT PLAZA at 9:20 am and a phenomenal young man told me that though they did not have it at the moment, they could order if for me...and have it in the store by 2pm, the same day! He patiently went thru all the different model numbers to confirm that I was getting exactly what I needed. And the price he quoted me was less than what the on-line sellers were advertising with an unacceptable future delivery date. I burst into tears knowing that this amazing little pharmacy was willing to do unbelievable magic to help me and my father in our desperate time of need. I got a call at 1:45 confirming that my GLUCERNA 1.2 had arrived, and I gladly drove 2 hours to secure this essential nutrition. Got my mother's wheelchair from Bright Plaza Pharmacy, after 1 year the footrest and brakes on the wheelchair were not working. I called the pharmacy to inform them of the problem, a young man answered and said he would come to the house to tighten the brakes. On the day of the scheduled service he did not show up and did not call to say he was not going to show up. Called the next day for an explanation and the young man said he would show up that day which he did. The young man took a long time trying to fix the footrest finally giving up and said he would order replacement footrest. Then he went on to work on the brakes, now as any caretaker knows taking care of a 98 year old wheelchair dependent person is a lot of work and this service call was taking a lot longer than I anticipated and I knew my mother was going to need the wheelchair soon to go to the bathroom. So he tightened one brake so much it took a lot of strength to put the brake handle down, the young man saw it was difficult for me to put the brake handle down he offered to loosen it. Wanting this service call to be over, getting antsy and thinking the brake would loosen soon, I mistakenly said "better safe than sorry" and told him it was okay to leave. Unfortunately after a couple of months putting this brake handle down several times a day, I feel there is a problem with my right thumb, it can be very painful. The day before yesterday, my mother had a doctor's appointment in the building, after her appointment we went downstairs to Bright Plaza Pharmacy to explain the situation. The same young man was at the desk, I asked if the company would pay for an X-Ray of my thumb he said no and got defensive, I asked to speak to the manager, he said she wasn't in, I asked for her name, which he provided and once again got defensive. At this point, I am frustrated and offended by his reaction so I told him that I was going to write a review and call an attorney. He didn't deny he had tightened the brake too much nor did he offer an apology. read more

I firmly believe in supporting local businesses who perform and vote with my dollars. Bright pharmacy brings the best of old fashioned courteous service together with today's modern efficiency. Each time I visit, the person behind the counter is attentive, courteous and is often times - a young person! (I knew they existed.). More importantly, they have my back on making sure I am getting the best price, watching for drug interaction, or even liquidizing medicine for my young son before he could swallow pills. I am writing this review because I feel bad that I have to change pharmacies. But I moved, and it is no longer as convenient as it used to be. So I want to let Bright Pharm., that I am still a fan. I have received polite, efficient and friendly service from all the staff. I have to say that I I forget to check when I need refills, but no matter, I always received excellent service.
