I went to Bright Smile Dental office for my first check-up, I was a little skeptical and nervous to try this new dental place before coming BUT I was so PLEASED with everything there: the gentleman who works at front desk, a lady who assists the dentist, and Dr. Jed,D. they did a great job for me today. They have worked professionally and very friendly also. They provided the X-ray, deep cleaning services for me, it was wonderful, I thought I would be very rough and hurt but it wasn't at all. The last but not least is office's hygiene. It is not very spacious but very clean, sweet-smelling make we can feel coziness, lessen the fearful atmosphere than other dental offices. After my recent experience I am left extremely disappointed in this dental facility. I had been coming here for the last few years and really enjoyed the dentist and staff. It had happened a few times in the past, that I would show up and they wouldn't be open yet. And I'd end up waiting in my car for them to open the doors. So this appointment I had last week I was in no rush to get there. My entire morning was scheduled around this appointment which was at 9am. I showed up just after 9 and they were CLOSED. Like completely closed. (There was a sign that said they were coming back around 10:30) After changing around my entire schedule to make this appointment I was highly irritated. I call while I am still in the parking lot and leave a message expecting they'd call me back later that day so I could reschedule. It wasn't until DAYS (talking 4 days later) that I get a phone call. Not only does he barely skim past the fact that they were closed when I showed up but he tells me they no longer accept my insurance. I had NEVER missed a phone call from them (and if I did no message was ever left) and now I'm left to find a completely new dentist and wait probably another 6 months before I can even get in as a new patient. UPDATE!!! 45 minutes after leaving the above review I got a phone call from the front desk. He proceeded to apologize profusely and said he wanted to do whatever he could to make it up- offering to continue my cleaning FOR FREE! He immediately got me scheduled for next week and agreed to continue with my cleaning until I am able to get into a new dentist. Then, at the end of today I got a phone from my dentist, and the owner of the business, who was immensely apologetic and said he'd be happy to see me all year with cleanings (prob 2 per year) because it could take many months for me to get in with another business. Like I stated in my first review- I really enjoyed the staff and my dentist (which to be honest is the saddest part of all of this). I greatly appreciate the quick response from the entire staff and have enjoyed my time as a patient there. read more

The front desk is nice and sturdy, and the people behind it are friendly. The kind of people who make you feel genuinely welcome and cared for. The dentist and his assistants are of the highest quality. They are attentive, skilled, and thorough. Dr. de la Paz has the gentlest hands of any dentist I've ever met. I'd trust him to defuse a bomb in my mouth. I've gotten cleanings and fillings here. And every time my experience has been the same. I write this with the intention of being helpful to people who are seeking the highest quality of dental care. I regret that my comments may have a negative impact on the reputation and financial flow of Bright Smile Dental. I wish nothing but the best for the individuals who work at this dental clinic, including Dr. De le Paz. I do feel a moral obligation to share honestly about my experience here, which was not positive. I went to Bright Smile and saw Dr. De le Paz in February 2018. I was scheduled for a teeth cleaning and dental exam. The teeth cleaning lasted less five minutes. I was assured by Dr. De le Paz and his assistant that my teeth looked just fine, that I had very little plaque build up, and there was nothing to clean. I felt a little confused because I hadn't gotten a dental cleaning in at least five years. In the past, the dental hygienist had always spent at least 30-60 minutes carefully cleaning my teeth and removing plaque. Xrays were taken and I was told that I needed 6 fillings. My teeth are in such great shape that they don't even need to be cleaned, and yet I have 6 cavities?! This felt very odd to me. I scheduled an additional appointment, wherein three fillings were done. The whole thing felt quite rushed. I felt like he didn't have time to talk to me afterwards and that he was in a hurry to leave and move onto the next person. My teeth were sore for weeks and it hurt to chew food where I had the fillings. I give Dr. De le Pax strong credit for the way that he pro-actively followed up with me during this time. I scheduled to come back in and Dr. De le Pax made adjustments on these fillings for free. But in the days that followed, the pain was still there. Again, to his credit, Dr. De le Pax followed up with a phone call and offered to re-do the fillings for free. I appreciated this gesture, but I did not feel a lot of confidence in his abilities at this point, so I decided to see a different dentist. I found a new and very competent dentist, recommended by a trusted friend. This dentist looked at the original Xrays that Bright Smile had taken. He said that he did not see any need for fillings on any of my teeth (including the teeth that Dr. De le Paz had drilled into). He also said that I have periodontal disease and that my teeth need a deep cleaning because there is a lot of plaque and tartar build up. What a contrast to Dr. De le Paz's assertion that my teeth didn't even need to be cleaned at all! It is my feeling that Dr. De le Paz didn't want my teeth to require a more thorough cleaning (or any cleaning at all), because he was trying to save time, so that he could see a higher volume of patients. In hindsight, I wish I had been more suspicious about the lack of time that he and his assistant spent cleaning my teeth, and I wish I had gotten a second opinion before allowing him to drill into my teeth (that apparently didn't even need to be drilled into!) If you are diagnosed with a cavity by Dr. De le Paz (or any other dentist for that matter) and you are not in any actual physical pain, I would strongly urge you to get a second opinion before you allow him (or any other dentist) to give you a filling. I have state insurance so I am limited in which dentists I can see. Most private dentists do not accept state insurance. This is because the state insurance does not pay the private practicing dentist enough money to offer quality and thorough dental care. Private dentists who accept state insurance have to treat a high volume of patients in order to be financially viable, which naturally compromises the level of care they are able to provide. Bright Smile Dental definitely falls under this category. If you have state insurance, I would strongly advise seeking out a community, state-funded dentist or a dental school. It is my hope that Dr. De le Paz and Bright Smile Dental will find a way to dramatically improve the quality of the care that they provide to patients. I hope this clinic's future patients will get more thorough dental cleanings than the one that I got. It is also my hope that Dr. De le Paz will be more conservative in diagnosing cavities and administering dental fillings. It's a true shame to drill into teeth that don't even need to be drilled into. read more

I had an appointment earlier today to have crowns done on two lower front teeth. Dr. Yang was extremely patient, answering my gauntlet of questions and concerns. Most importantly though, he took extra care to make sure both crowns would fit with my already existing partial, which is super important for functionality and cosmetic looks. For those of you who have children, Dr. Yang is a magician with the needle, utilizing a technique that enables him to inject anesthetic with the patient barely noticing. To be honest, I couldn't tell the anesthetic had been injected at all until I started feeling the numbing effect of the medication in my mouth. So I've been trying to find a decent dentist to finish up any work I need done before my dental coverage changes and this place is great, very clean, very nice staff but the one thing that really bothered me is they tried to sell me a $20 toothpaste? I'm a college student. I decided to come here because they accept my insurance, which turns out to be the state covered kind; apple health. I was actually excited to to get my check-up at Bright Smile because of all the glowing reviews. The receptionist on the phone are always nice and very respectful. The dentist, dr la pax, was generally condescending in his candors me. During my first visit, he asks me flat out "what do you do for a living?" Followed by "Well, how much money do you make?" I stammered a bit, turned red and replied "ok." I thought, well maybe he asks everyone that, maybe it's just me and I am overreacting. A second visit. I am lying back in the chair waiting for dr la pax to come in. The dental assistant who is assisting is very respectful and pleasant as she makes small talk while setting up her dental tools. Dr de la pax enters the room from behind me and begins a greeting. "Hello, how are you?" I try my best to reply with a suitable greeting, but I have the guard in my mouth for xrays. So, I mutter something along the lines of: "harlo..." Dr de la pax interjects and in a condescending tone says "I'm not talking to you.... I'm talking to her..." and continues to point towards his assistant. I was stunned and just thinking to myself what I possibly did wrong. Even when he treated me poorly, I was always respectful. However, I can make the assumption that his poor demeanor and lack of respect could have been indirect. Maybe he was having a bad day on both of my appointments. Even though I did feel disrespected, I continued to my next appointment. This appointment, I paid out of pocket for a cleaning and the difference was night and day. Never met a more respectful, compassionate individual in my life. read more

Dr. Brian Sohn is professional and provides great dental care. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain what is going on in my mouth and why it is happening. In the past I can honestly say I only went to the dentist when I was having a toothache but now that Dr. Brian is there I will be getting my cleanings every 6 months! When I walked in the receptionist were very friendly and they checked me in right away and sat me down. Waited for about an hour before the dentist came to see me and without consultation or asking me what I wanted to do he tells they will remove my tooth leaves and there comes the assistant to numb my tooth. I was like is there anything I can do to save the tooth...than dentist comes back again another 30 minutes later and than tells me OK make an appointment for a consultation. I had such a good experience at Bright Smile. I recently had a less-than-desirable experience at another dentist and the front office manager Love was extremely empathetic and helpful in setting up my appointment and getting the records necessary for me to be seen. Dr. Jed de la Paz was personable and immediately made me feel comfortable as a patient, making sure to continuously ask if I have any other questions and explaining possible resources and referrals for dental care beyond his office if necessary. The rest of the medical and clerical staff was great. They took extra effort and time to get my records day-of. Additionally, the office is kept neat and welcoming. I would note that there is some faith-related flair around the office and Christian music was playing. I am not religious and don't like that type of music, but none of this bothered me. The space was actually very calming, I was treated well and respected, and was happy to schedule my next appointment a year from now with Dr. Jed and his team. read more

Absolutely horrible. I drove from an hour away a and paid a bridge toll, then as soon as they ha e numbed my mouth they tell me their computer is broken so the can't do a filling! My kids have always hated to go to the dentist especially my son. When Dr. Katie Sohn did his treatment he was calm and he cooperated with her. Not sure how to start off with this but I just feel I need to say something about this dentist. I've been an established patient for over 5 years as well as my children. I've never had any issues with appointment's or care until now. The original dentist that owned the business retired and sold to a new dentist named Dr. Yang. He was alright I suppose but recently he opened a new office elsewhere and hired a woman dentist to work at this office. Ever since I've been seeing her she has repeatedly complained about any dental work that I needed done. Everything from toothaches to cleaning, she always tries to send me somewhere else. I have no idea why but Everytime I go in for an appointment she is rude and does not care how I feel or how uncomfortable she makes me or pain she puts me thru. Any how I've never complained about her treatment because I didn't want to have to find a new dentist. Well today 6/24/16 I just received a call from the office manager informing me that I am no longer welcome back. I was confused, so I asked why ? The only explanation i got was the current dentist and Dr. Yang felt that based upon my ANXIETY disorder that they could no longer accommodate my care.
