There has been so much wrong with our custom built Gehan home we literally wanted to sell it within the first couple months. Starting with the construction process where the construction guys literally lived in our home while building it, urinated all over the plywood on the second story, too lazy to go to the port o potty outside obviously, I would come every weekend and spray the areas like you would after a pet. To this day if I steam clean my carpet, the smell of human urine knocks you out. It's disgusting and unacceptable!!! The day we moved in, our brand new microwave was annihilated inside from their food blowing up in it, all my brand new appliances that we paid for look like they were purchased at scratch&dent prices. They are so scratched and dented! And the first day of obtaining the keys, we came in and took a family picture and in no more than 5 minutes the construction guys were at our door trying to get in to either use the appliances, hang out or something. So unprofessional and disgusting! And yes, I always mentioned ALL of the above that was going on to the head contractor, and he would just laugh, deflect and blow it off. We had a miserable experience in the construction process and the house itself is no better. It took a year just to get the stuff on the walk through list corrected, and only after calling around 12 or more times! And it's still not done. Our foundation was not layed evenly so all of our wood flooring pops up. They keep coming back, tearing up the floor and having to fix the concrete underneath. Totally screwed it up the first 2 times, came out a third time and now coming a 4rth time. Having to move refrigerator, dishwasher, couches, TV, shelves, entertainment. It's absolutely ridiculous!!! THIS IS A BRAND NEW HOUSE ONLY A YEAR OLD! This has been the worst mistake we have ever made and we regret it every day. Not one thing has gone right from financing, things we were told by the builder, construction or the house. read more

Update: Gehan homes reached back out to us and said they would be willing to do the changes. We were extremely happy to hear they would do this... Until they sent us the pricing. They had $1345 for 6 lights to add. 2 lights were simply being daisy chained off of existing lights. These lights are not can lights they are $7.55 surface mount lights that my company uses as well. Maybe 15ft of wire required total as well for those 2. Then 4 lights in the living room. Same lights but adding a switchleg. At $150 per opening which is the national average pricing you'd be at $750. Their pricing is nearly double. They said they were going to add the plugs by the TV coax on the walls for no additional charge since this was their error. No wonder they say this with their pricing they are not actually throwing them in for no charge. They are charging for them as well in their lighting change price. So we told them just do the plugs and forget the 6 lights. The same plugs they were doing for no additional charges. Now they have removed the lights and told us we owe $500 change order charge plus a $200 electrician trip charge. Thats $700. Now how is that them throwing in the plugs for no additional charge? They tried to add the price in the lights and now that we removed the lights they are adding change order charges and a trip fee for us for their mistake. Reminder: we paid for tv on all walls in bedrooms, living room, and patio. They put coax at all walls and no plugs. Now whose mistake is that? If they sold the plugs seperate they should of said this up front. Instead they let us leave with buying coax only which nobody would do. They said they would correct that issue at no charge yet are billing us $500 for change order plus $200 for electrician trip charge??!?!?!? Thats $700 we are being billed for their screw up. These people are not transparent at all. My mother is a realtor and my wife has a top producing team in KW. They will be sharing this experience with the rest of the agents at KW as well as their clients. You decide if you want to proceed with this builder.....they make the process an absolute nightmare. read more

We purchased a home in December 2021 during the grand opening prices for a new neighborhood in GTX our home was supposed to be complete July 2022 but wasn't completed until Oct 2022. The experience the first two months seemed that we made a good choice but once walk throughs started and building was prolonged, the workmanship became worse as we went on. It looks like someone DIY'd our house with their eyes closed. We have built two "plain jane" homes with DR Horton in the last 10 years and have had a WAY BETTER experience with them here in TX, than Gehan homes and this is supposed to be a "partially custom home". We were forced to move into an unfinished home where many problems have still never been completed four months later. In both "final walkthroughs" the house was still incomplete (broken windows, missing/broken doors, exposed concrete in bathroom floors, no shower head in the bathroom, cosmetic issues that were previously blue taped but never actually fixed, MANY holes in tile grout, etc). Our LOI has taken 4+ months to be completed and we have new people we're working with due to Gehan firing anyone who knew about our home, and our Sales contact who now "has nothing to do with this and can't help us" and no one getting notified that we needed continued work. I have had to do all of the contacting to get a single thing done. Their social media team doesn't promote this location and we've wondered why, but it makes since due to the workmanship at this location. The model home sure looks nice though...Meanwhile neighbors as well as my family, are forced to live in homes that aren't complete and don't reflect the company's slogan "happiness lives here". The house two doors down is an open house, it is a "quick move in" Gehan home and the workmanship is disastrous. We could have never afforded this home without buying during the grand opening prices and selling of our previous home as we are a one-income family lucky enough to even purchase a home at all, and now we see how terribly our money was spent on people that don't know what they're doing or simply do not care. I can't forget to mention that I couldn't get the gas turned on for weeks because Gehan didn't "close the project" on their end with the city so my gas almost got shut off today because we were never notified that they finally closed the project. I had been calling to get it set up with Atmos but kept being told the project was still open and couldn't get it switched over. We were told in October via text, it would be closed on their end that day, but when I called that month, Atmos still couldn't set us up. Unfortunately, with the busyness of life, I forgot to keep calling Atmos during November and December to check on the status, so now I have to pay back-pay to Atmos. Our heater also wouldn't turn on and it dropped below 60 in our home multiple times. Come to find out Gehan messed up. The AC Tech said that Gehan never notified the AC company of a problem with the gas connection to the unit being fixed. Gehan was supposed to contact the AC company once the issue was fixed so they could switch the heat on in the unit itself, so it would be safe to run. This never happened on Gehan's end. So, my family was without heat for two months until the AC guy came out and let us know that Gehan should have contacted them prior to closing, so they could have fixed the issue. With all of the issues with this house to be fixed, we were told to contact Gehan warranty even though NONE of these issues are warranty. Warranty responded saying these aren't warranty issues but construction issues (obviously). So now we have a new construction manager helping us to get things done. Let's hope it actually gets completed. Our home is supposed to make us feel at home, at peace and stress free. Instead, it does the opposite. We may love the location and the feel of this neighborhood but have enjoyed very little of this experience with Gehan, but luckily if you're buying here, there are 3 other builders to choose from. Please don't chose this company if you want to buy your house. They don't do good work at all. Everything in the house is cheaper, immediately I bought my house the same day, the bricks started to peel off the walls, the rooms are not sound proof, impossible to rest because the slightest noise from the next room is to high. The living room floor is rebounding in places and my husband called them several times to fix it but without answer. All equipment used is of poor quality and cheap. Air conditioning and heat don't work properly. Very bad builder. read more

Gehan home is my first ever house I bought , as a new buyer Gehan home has taken all the advantage they can. I will suggest all over United states DO NOT BUY "GEHAN HOME" at all.They are fake people.They give fake information in order to sell of their house. They are not at all supportive once they hand over the house.Since we have moved in , from initial days itself we have faced lot of construction and the apliances issueas well. so overall i will say worst quality of building and appliances they give. They have not gave us enough information to register for the Appliances within 6 months of buying the house. Also by default eveyone gets 2 years of warranty, we they gave us just 1 year warranty.Not to mention while selling the house they said they are gonna give 2 years and later then denied. One of the saddest warranty programs I've ever dealt with! Countless times of waiting for scheduled re pair work with no show no call ! Installed a new master bathroom dr 9 weeks ago still not painted! Going to get it painted myself, Seems like that Gehan homes want the home buyers to get tired of postponing the repair work and just give up! It's a number game for them, probably with fair results! Roofer came here to our home 4 months ago , no latter , took a picture from the street, no repair yet ,this is 4 months ago,been asking to get this repaired from Apr2020 nothing yet! Josh from Gehan contacted both his Construction Manager and us to hear both sides of the story. When we first talked to him, there was nothing he could do or say that would convince me that Gehan valued our business the same as all the home buyers we watched moving into their forever homes all around us while we were still sitting in our rental knowing that our home was still was just a frame. He said that he just need a chance. All he wanted and needed was the opportunity to show us that all buyers that purchase from Gehan were valued. He told us what process would happen on the next business day and of course we didn't believe him because we had become accustom to the broken promises But when we stopped by the property, we were speechless because we were not use to having a promise kept. The workers were there and busy getting the sheetrock on the walls. This was so different from all the broken promises we had been given over the last four months. He had also said by the end of that business day, we'd chat again about a plan moving forward. As promised, he contacted us. Nick had gotten sick over the weekend and was not able to sketch out the plan he requested but he had already come up with a backup plan which was thinking on his feet and another promise kept. I don't know if we will make the closing date because Nick and Kelly handed out so many broken promises that left so much undone but we are grateful for the things that Josh has started and the fact that he did not break the two promises he made and his first impression has been such a welcomed one. read more

Absolutely 100% do not ignore the bad reviews about Gehan homes. I bought a new build that was completed in Dec 2021, and in April of 2022 both of my toilets were not flushing and sewage water was coming out of my shower. I also had a water leak in one of the guest bedrooms. Every problem I had seemed related to plumbing and sure enough my main drainage pipe was broken from the get go. A plumber came and stuck a camera in my drainage pipe and it was broken from the city's main line. I had him explain exactly how to describe the issue so that I could describe it to Gehan homes. the warranty department will not answer phone calls, they have a number listed however will only respond to you via voicemail. Nobody talked to me on the phone during this entire process. My warranty did not cover the repairs and Gehan homes refused to do anything to fix the new build they just sold with broken plumbing. Total cost of the repair was a little under $5k. Definitely recommend buying a home from another builder. read more

If you asked me to define my experience with Gehan homes I would be able to in one word, nightmare! This process has been nothing but dissappointing. It seems that with every turn there is something more shocking then the next! First, the designer that works for the builder did not choose the options we asked for in the final contract of our new home build. We did not immediately catch the wrong mortar choice for our home in the contract. When we asked for the buff mortar we had initially chosen for our brick to be used instead of the gray mortar in the contract, they said sorry you signed the contract there is nothing we can do. We even offered to pay the extra fee, but apparently pleasing the home owner is not the main concern of this builder! After explaining our dissappointment with the sales agent, I can definitely attest to the lack of enthusiam that was previously described, we have now been ignored, with the sales agent refusing to even send us weekly updates on our new build. The disaster continues, the side paneling and gutters that had been chosen on the house do not match, which was a recommendation by their designer by the way, and we are not happy campers!!! I know this builder was chosen as "Builder of the Year", however, I feel as though the builder of the year should care about the dissappointment of their customers! My advice to all of you would be to look elsewhere!!! Find a company that is more forthcoming with the true nature of their business!!! And, always check the fine print! We have discovered hidden charges that were not given to us in the beginning. We have not closed as of yet. read more

Gehan built new construction home with mold and now refuse to return paid deposits and fees. December 2018, I entered into a sales contract with Gehan for a home to be built in Harmony Village located at 4561 New Country Rd. Spring, Tx. Construction on the home began February 2019. On February 17, I visited the home site. At the time of my visit the home was in the framing phase. During my walk-through, I noticed several studs with mold on them. After taking pictures, I immediately texted Collin, the sales consultant, and advised him of the mold and sent him pictures. On Feb 18, Collin informed me that he would notify Jim, the project manager. On Feb 22, Jim and I conducted a pre-sheetrock meeting. During this time, Jim and I went through the home and marked every stud that was observed to have mold on it. Jim promised that the studs would either be replaced or treated. Jim agreed to contact me prior to the home being sheetrock so I could verify that the studs had been replaced/treated. If he could not contact me then he was to provide documentation that the studs had been removed/treated. This information was noted on the signoff pre-sheetrock form and signed by myself and Jim. I visited the home site again on March 1 around 10am after not hearing from Jim only to find the home entire had been sheetrock. I immediately notified Collin and advised that I did not wish to move forward with the purchase of the home because I could not trust that the home had been treated and the marked studs had been replaced. Collins admitted that he did not have the expertise to speak with me regarding the issue so Collin contacted Chris, the area manager to explain to me what happened. Chris stated that he had emailed Rick,a mold consultant, the photos that I had previously sent Collin. According to Rick, the black stains on the wood observed in the photos were actually sap stains, so there was no need for treatment or removal of the studs. Chris stated that based on Rick's statements that he saw no need to postpone the project and that he will proceed to avoid any delays. On March 4, I then contacted David, VP of Operations in the Houston office and explained to him what was going on. I also emailed him text mess ages from Collins and Jim, as well as, pictures of various levels of mold on the studs. David sent Rick, the mold consultant, to the home site to conduct a mold assessment on March 7. Rick who is 70 years old, conducted his assessment using old conventional methods by detecting mold by sight and smell. Despite the fact that the mold was now considered to be hidden mold because the entire home had been sheetrock, I showed Rick several pictures of the mold and even walked the home out, pointing to the areas in the home were molded studs were. Rick couldn't smell mold due to the new construction smell in the home. Rick also attempted to do infrared and moisture testing of the walls but due to the wet taping on the sheetrock the results were invalid. During the consult, I also requested samples be taken but Rick stated that it would be a waste of time. Nevertheless, Rick wrote in his report that no mold was found in the home and the moisture content was found to be in normal range. Rick also stated in his report that the wood had been treated which was absolutely false. Again, I contacted Collin to let him know that I no longer wish to proceed with the purchase of the home because I knew that Rick's report was completely false. Collin suggested that I get a second assessment done to help ease my mind. So a few days prior to closing, I hired Joe to conduct a home inspection and mold assessment. After showing Joe pictures of the molded studs, air samples were collected. The samples were sent to an independent laboratory for testing. The samples came back positive with slight elevations of mold in the air of the home and high elevations of mold inside the wall cavity. Two types of mold were identified, Aspergillus/Penicillium and Cladosporuim in the home. Aspergillus/Penicillium were found inside the wall cavity of the home and was found to be 9x greater than outside. Gehan was provided with a copy of the lab results. However, Gehan is now refusing to accept the results because the results contradicts everything Rick, their hired mold consultant, wrote in his report, despite being told by Gehan that I should hire my own independent mold consultant. Gehan took the word of their mold consultant and fail to consider actual factual data conducted by an independent laboratory. I walked away from the purchase of this home due to concerns of possible future health concerns related to mold. I have spoken with Gehan on several occasions about a refund for all monies paid toward design, appraisal and mold inspections because Gehan failed to provide a quality home per their contract. Gehan has refused to refund my money in the sum of $8000 and at this point I am considering legal action. read more

Man they are quick to get you to purchase in the Phoenix area. Warranty department is terrible. No communication and I stayed home from work several days to have no one show up or show up with the wrong materials. Trying to get a hold of the warranty department is horrible. Most of the time several days to confirm work and when they do it's usually too late. At this point I would never buy a Gehan Home again or recommend to anyone. My husband and I purchased our first Houston home with Gehan Homes and we have now been in the house for one year. Unfortunately, the experience, from the moment it was too late to cancel our contract, until now, a year later, has been less than acceptable. The homes "look" beautiful and the sales person will promise you the world but before signing the dotted line, please be sure to read ALL the small print. I used to work with builders before and had never seen such unreasonable language, such as if you delay the closing (for any reason, even if you are not satisfied with the quality of work), you will be charged a $500 fee for the first day and then some other fee (can't remember exactly) for each day thereafter. BUT...if THEY delay the closing for any reason, there are no penalties. If them delaying your closing affects you in any way, like loosing your loan, locked, interest rate or having to pay another month of rent, it's not their problem. They WILL cut corners in the construction process. Be sure to stay on top of it and hire a 3rd party inspector, especially before they put up the walls and with the roof. They WILL cover up bad work. They hire the most "economic" sub-contractors who do very sloppy work and the very minimum, especially the painters and landscapers. We found tons of debris under our grass, including bottles, blades, plastic, etc. The grade was not properly done and we are now having many issues with our grass, even while hiring professional landscapers to take care of it for us. The foremen are not very responsive and they just push you to close. The "warranty" has a bunch of exclusions and many things will not be covered. We are still waiting for things to be fixed, hoping that we get solutions but the last thing we got is that we are out of warranty by a few days, even though the one-year walkthru was completed before the year was up. Other than that, we try to make it a warm and welcoming home despite all these not so great experiences. read more

Worst experience, if you are reading this because your considering buying a gehan. Do yourself a favor and run now. I put $3500 down on a preexisting home. The sales person made false claims about the home to then quit a few days later. Once gehan has your earnest money they have zero intentions of working with you. In the end I lost 3500 in less than a 2 week period. They made good on absolutely nothing, never returned a phone. I did not ever even have a conversation, instead I was lied to the gehans affiliated lender tried to push me into the home. Changing closing dates to earlier and earlier then attempts to say if I don't sign w gehans lender in 48 hours they keep my money. Huh? In the end was a blessing bec although I lost $3500 and it was totally unethical on gehans part I ended up getting another brand new house w a different builder. And it was a wonderful experience I'm super happy Gehan did what they did bec I could not imagine getting in one of their houses then being treated so poorly and having to be stuck w them like the others that say their house is falling apart. Just do some research read other complaint boards and you may want to think twice. Lots of other builders out there. read more

I went to the design center, all the selections are terrible. You can pick one standard cabinet color - cherrywood, who is in 2019 like cherrywood cabinets?! The granite selections are styles from the 90s, just the other reviews said everything is upgrade charge. We purchased a Gehan home in June of 2016. We moved in September of 2016. We feel you get more for your money for a Gehan home. We purchased a spec home so all the extras were already there. The sales people, especially Arnold Adams, are knowledgeable and go above and beyond to make it happen. Although, James Ryder wasn't our sales person, he has been helpful to us, as well. The construction manager, Rick, is tops in his class. He is probably overworked, but polite and takes care of any issues that may arise Gehan's sales, management and team have made downsizing less traumatic. They offer a good product with a good warranty. We need more neighbors out here, so consider Carnegie Ridge when looking for your next home. As others have said, this company performed a bait and switch on me. We signed a contract to have a home built, we went back and forth selecting a lot because we wanted a specific elevation of a specific plan. We finally found one, and were guaranteed that elevation could be built on that lot. We signed the contract, Gehan signed the contract, and we paid the deposit in full. Three days after signing the contract and taking our money, after turning down incentive offers from other builders, the sales representative calls us to tell us they will not build the home on that lot because of the aesthetics of the home next door. They told us we'd either have to pay $9,000 for a new elevation plan or $4,000 for a new lot. We even offered to move lots as long as they honored the lot price we had already signed the contract for - they refused. They then told us that we would have to terminate the contract, even though they were the ones that were refusing to build the home on the lot we contracted for. The sales person was completely unprofessional, tried to tell me we didn't have a signed contract (I'm an attorney and had to literally send him screenshots to contradict his false claims), blamed it on his manager, and then said the company was violating their own policies. After reading other reviews, literally from this month, it seems this company has made a habit out of this practice. I have taken screen shots of other bait and switch complaints, submitted a consumer protection complaint to the Attorney General's office, and intend to follow up with my attorney. Gehan homes at Wellington in Haslet were the worst builders I went to tour. The people in the office were some of the most unprofessional, rude people I have ever dealt with. I even tried to give them the benefit of it being a bad day and emailed, but received the exact same type of service. This may be my first home and not in the price range they would want to "deal with", however, loyalty is created from the experience of buying a first home and the continuation of buying more homes from that builder as time progresses. I've never felt more like a scene in Pretty Woman in my life, they were snobby and condescending. Also not to sound like a snob but the 3 people that came to tour Gehan homes, that they treated like trash, make a combined salary of over half a mil, so Big mistake, huge. Especially when one will be in the market for a half a mil home this year, and 7500 are moving to TX at my company. I will make sure to let others know how they "treat" their potential home buyers. read more

Lied to by sales person in order to hand over $3500 in earnest money 2 days later sales person quit. Then be lied to by the lender that Gehan has ownership in, funny the keep moving up the closing dates up. After finding out the sales person only lied in order to take earnest money on a preexisting home They tried to force me to buy the home, never answering any of my questions but continued to send me loan documents that were stating I must sign 48 hours or else you lose your money huh? I never EVER received one phone call from them They then Fraudulently altered my signature come to later find out conveniently Gehan is a lawyer. I wonder how ethical it is to alter signatures? Long story short. They kept my $3500 I was never able to speak to a person, they lied in order to get the money thinking they could force me to close on a this home. Never once tried to make anything right. Whole ordeal lasted 12 days and was on a existing home. Never met one person there besides the women who quit two days later. Don't be a victim on Gehan scheme. Run as fast as you can. read more

Stay far away from Gehan. They are not the quality builder they make themselves out to be. All the bad reviews turned out to be true. I thought they were just off hand situations that happened over the years and it wouldn't happen to me in League City. Boy was I wrong. I was informed today that Gehan will not be repairing the poor brick job on my house. I was rushed into closing despite not being satisfied, but told that all unresolved issues would be fixed after. Now it seems that is not the case. My brick issues include the following: Paint washed off the brick on the back side of the house after rain, different color mortar all around the house with ugly yellow in the front, big cracks all around, and dull brick on the front (hardly any variance). The house is a lemon in the neighborhood. Everyone that has seen it has said that it is a very poor job, including two different brick specialists. When you look at the jobs done on all the other houses in the neighborhood, you see a complete and matching mortar job with correct color variance. I don't know why such a terrible job was done on my house, but it is completely unacceptable for paying 370k. My brick should not have the color washing out from rain on the second week of moving in. I don't know if the brick is defective, but it means in just a few short years the whole house will be stripped and look really bad. As far as the color of the mortar, matching was not done and the front was turned an ugly yellow by an incorrect acid wash. This same acid was left to run down my driveway and ruin it. The driveway and porch was then capped, but this job was done incorrectly and now I have bad stains from white powder that came up during the rain as well as cracking. They also used the absolute cheapest materials in the house. Not something you would find in a supposed high quality, heavily upgraded house. They also use the worst possible contractors to do the job. I completely regret my decision to build with Gehan. Now I'm stuck with a shoddy house after spending a lot of money, and they could care less now that I have closed. They won builder of the year this year, but don't fall for that. Someone from the industry told me builders put themselves in for that. They do not stand by the quality they try to sell you on. What a terrible feeling this is... read more

I thought I would share our personal experience with Gehan Homes, and you can decide for yourself if this is the company you want to do business with. We went to the model home at The Vineyards in McKinney. We met with a great sales representative, who took time with us to listen to our needs, go over floor plans, and options, then take us to view a couple of plans that we were interested in. When we were on the fence between 2 plans, he actually (on his own time), 3d modeled one of the houses, so we could get an idea about what to expect. We arranged financing with the builder's preferred lender, moved forward with our contract, picked a lot, picked a floorplan, and set our design center appt. Now, the first negative experience started at the design center. My wife was out of the country, so I made the first of 2 visits with our realtor. At the first appt, I was told, I had to pick a backsplash that day, and they couldn't provide me with a price for the backsplash. I was given an initial estimate of $3500 that jumped to $5500. After some discussions, the design center allowed us to choose a different backsplash that fell within our budget. The second visit and electrical visit out of the way, that just left the pre-construction meeting. Shortly before our pre-construction meeting, we were informed that our sales representative was no longer with the company. Who told us this? Our old sales representative. To his credit, he never bad-mouthed Gehan. He only wanted us to know he was terminated, and we should contact his co-worker if we had questions. So, this became a cause of concern for both of us as we didn't want our account to slip through the cracks, and we felt, Gehan should have been pro-active about this situation. We felt this could have been handled in a way where things were transitioned prior to us finding out from their former employee. We went back to the model home the next day to talk, and our sales representative's co-worker had no idea who we were, and did not have access to our account. At this point began a series of emails and voicemails to management expressing our displeasure in how things were handled, and the need for improvements in their processes. I work in IT and due to the current pandemic, our office decided to transition all employees to work from home by providing them with company laptops that needed to be imaged. For me, the house issue was put on the back burner as we still needed to have our pre-construction meeting and making sure the employee's laptops were imaged and issued was the priority. Gehan's management called on Friday and left me a voicemail. On Monday, I was sent an email saying our contract was terminated. When I reached out to explain we didn't want to cancel, we just felt they could take our experience as a learning experience to address their processes. We repeatedly reached back out to different levels of management to try to resolve this, but Gehan was unwilling to budge. What makes this situation worse was that we listed our house, had a buyer lined up, and had this occurred a day later, we would have sold our house with no place to go. read more

This is our second home building experience in the same Avalon neighborhood in Pflugerville. After our first horrible experience with another builder a few years ago, we thought we may be crazy to chance the experience again. Lucky for us, our experience with Gehan has been completely different and so awesome! From the moment we stepped in the gorgeous Villanova model home and met Melodie Monroe, we felt at ease. She has made the entire process of building such a relaxing and fun experience and has never given us that pushy sales person vibe. Melodie made it feel like we were working with a friend. Our experience with our construction manager, Paul, has been great too! He is very professional and we felt at ease knowing that he knows his stuff and is motivated to get us into our home quickly. This was my first time building a home from the ground up. I did not know what all to expect, I met John Coultas and he walked me through everything step by step. Anytime I needed him he was there above and beyond what his job description would even think to state. I closed in February and to this day he is still 1 phone call away he believes in service even after the sale which is rare. I can't be happier with our experience with Gehan Homes. Our salesman, Collin was great, always available to answer my never ending questions as a first time home buyer. Our contractors Michael and Bo were seriously such a great team to work with during the building process and we can't be happier with the way the home turned out. Everything looks so high end at such an affordable price! It took them less than 2 months to build our home and our closing date was a month earlier than originally expected. I feel like someone needs to pinch me because I can't have just moved into my dream home that easily! I was unsatisfied through the process. When I was buying the house, I made it clear that we wanted to build the house to be facing true north. Robert (the salesman) (subdivision: Creek Bend in Pearland Tx) confirmed with us that the house was pointing north with the land before payment. Once we deposited $3500, they completed a survey of the land and it was pointing 13 degrees to NW. We asked Robert what had happened and he said that they most likely would not be able to change. He stated we needed to "be flexible" about this, but there is no way to be flexible in our beliefs of how our house should be. Changing the direction of our home for good luck was the whole reason for buying a new house. We wanted to cancel, but then Robert called back and said that they would be able to turn the house slightly with an additional $3,000 deposit. This is not a small sum and I understand that they need to be sure that we were willing to stay with buying the house. We were definitely going to buy the house but the additional money made it seem like they were just robbing us. If they build the house and it is not facing true north, we would lose an additional $3000 (Total: $6500 lost) with a house that we will not be able to live in. Therefore, we asked for our money back, but Robert was rude over the phone and said we cannot get out money back. He was YELLING at us how they have done everything and now we "need to be flexible." With all of this, there is no way to guarantee that they would build our house properly without incident. Be WARY of this builder and read the comments of others before getting into their trap. Gehan will say anything to get your money, NOT FOLLOW THROUGH, and be RUDE about it. read more
