AWESOME ! Service over and above what might normally be expected! On April 20 while visiting daughter and grandkids in Brighton, my husband and I wanted to take everyone (daughter, boyfriend, grandson, grandson's girlfriend, granddaughter) out for a nice dinner. We were a little hesitant about finding a restaurant as grandson just started going through the process of determining food sensitivities. My daughter called ahead to check about gluten-free options on the menu as the list of what he can and cannot eat is very limiting at this time and he is still figuring things out which can be rough for a high school senior. We were seated promptly in the front window area and Shannon S. was our server. Now I don't know if Shannon was told to expect us, but she hit the ball out of the proverbial park. Not only did she suggest side options for grandson, but when questions about ingredients were asked that she couldn't answer she went to the kitchen to presumably ask chef--but she came back to the table with answers AND a binder containing all the ingredients for each menu item (no, sorry that has garlic as a seasoning; no sorry that has a sauce with onions; no sorry that has cheese). In the end, grandson was able to choose with confidence side dishes in place of the standard menu options so that his meal wouldn't mess with his digestive system--he became more of an active participant in deciding his dinner--and that his meal was one he really, really, really enjoyed. He was surprised that a restaurant would go to those lengths to help a customer. Brighton Bar and Grill was a favorite spot when husband and I lived in Howell years ago and will definitely come back to the high service and quality food we experienced on this visit. read more

What an excellent experience! Loved sitting in the front window, looking out over downtown; great server and delicious lunch! I will definitely be back! We were there for lunch and I chose a sandwich from the lunch combo--per the menu, "Your choice of croissant sandwich paired with a cup of soup or a house side salad for $18." I had the very tasty Smokey Turkey & Aged Cheddar Croissant and a Caesar Salad. The salad was spot on! I had asked our waitress to have the chef leave the basil pesto off the croissant, but that was missed somehow, however, the sandwich was still very good! I can't wait until my next visit! read more

This is fine dining, white table cloths and all but not cheap. Service was great, drinks were filled often, great food. The 5 of us had the Thai chicken and filet tips for an appetizers, very good. Maurice and blueberry salads, clam chowder soup, steak, pot roast, we'd all order these again. The Cajun fettuccini and days special weren't a hit. We'd definitely go again. I recently hosted a birthday dinner for 25 in the private function room at the Brighton Bar and Grill. We had a wide age range, 1-90, with "interesting" dietary concerns. All present gave them very high marks in all areas. The food was delicious and was served pretty much simultaneously... a hard job for 25 diners. i frequent brighton bar and grill for their pan-seared filet tips, and they are by far my absolute favorite of all time. the zip sauce and chipotle aioli are unbeatable. aside from the filet tips, the louisiana cajun fettuccini is to die for. rich, bold, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. i stop in for lunch over the summer and usually order my favorite combo: the caesar salad and tomato tarragon soup. but one day i stepped out of my comfort zone and tried their take on a reuben, the georgia reuben, and i was absolutely blown away. it was so, so yummy and paired perfectly with the black pepper kettle chips. i truly love brighton bar and grill. the staff and servers are always attentive, kind, and hardworking, and the environment is warm and welcoming, with every corner clean and sparkling. there isn't a bad seat in the house. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Brighton. It's one of the best places in the area for American cuisine. The food is great and the restaurant is clean and attractive. I've ordered takeout by phone and it takes 20 minutes to pick up from the bar. I've tried the Blackened Salmon Salad, Cubano Sandwich, Slow Roasted Pot Roasted Open Face, the Salmon BLT, and the Wrap of Khan. They are all delicious. The meat and fish are always well-seasoned and tender. Even the sauces and dressings taste homemade and unique compared to other restaurants. I look forward to trying the dinner menu someday. read more

An update to my review: I've been here multiple times now for company dinners and every time the food and environment is great! I have really enjoyed all of the dishes there so far, except today I didn't exactly enjoy the Mac &cheese. I found it to be a little bland or too liquidy for my personal preference. I added jalapeños to mine to spice it up. My friend enjoyed her Brie sandwich though and I've usually like ordering the salmon! The pan seared filet tips are delicious and one of my favorite appetizers. The service is always nice and prompt too. Especially for a large group event! read more

My wife and I ate at Brighton Bar and Grill for dinner this last weekend, on a busy night in town with the Kentucky Derby. I'll start with the negative - reservations are almost required here, yet they don't mean much other than you will have a table at some point - we had to wait 30 minutes for a table so our 7pm reservation turned into sitting at 730, putting our entire dinner in a massive time crunch which did sour the experience. Considering its size, I think BB&G should institute a maximum time limit per table and hold customers to it to ensure they're meeting reservations and keeping everyone happy. Beyond that, everything was fantastic. Our server, Jen, did an amazing job considering our time crunch and got everything to us quickly and was incredibly attentive. The food was OUTSTANDING, some of the best if not the best in Brighton. My wife had Walleye and I had scallops, both were well done, seasoned beautifully, and great portions for the cost. The bar also was amazing, drinks were good and they even made us carajillos, a drink we found on vacation recently. BB&G had the right liquor, so we decided to ask if they could make it even though it's not on menu and not a popular drink here, and they hit it out of the park!! Will definitely be back, but hoping for a better experience next time with seating so we don't feel as rushed. A 1.5 hour limit per table could potentially solve the issue and keep things moving - we were far from the only group forced to wait for our reservation. read more

Service was good and the staff were friendly. Drinks were alright. Lighting and mood was great. Food was hit or miss, mostly miss. The filet was trimmed badly and had about a 2 inch strip of gristle, which shouldn't be a thing on a filet at all. On top of that, nothing was salted enough. I had to add salt to both meals just to get basic flavor. The steak Benedict had way too much going on. The bacon was insanely overpowering and completely drowned out the steak and even the hollandaise. I'm not sure what was up with the bacon, but it was aggressively strong. Same issue on my burger, the bacon took over everything. Produce wasn't great either. Tomatoes tasted like water, and the green onions on the Benedict didn't taste very fresh. Not the end of the world, but noticeable on both plates. Potato cakes were good. We were also brought bread after our calamari came out, which was backwards. One thing that really stood out was I specifically asked if they carried Labatt. And I was told they don't carry it at all, even though it was listed on the drink menu. Overall, good service, but the food and some basic execution stuff made it disappointing. Probably won't go back. read more

we have been coming here for years and this past weekend the food was just ok. We were celebrating Easter with our family and had a party of 9 which is not inexpensive. The potatoes they serve with their ribeye were horrible, no flavor and super hard. Some of our other dishes were great and a couple of others were ok, my husband and I are bummed because we loved it there. While I was advised our experience would be ho-hum, that wasn't my experience. While I would have appreciated a quieter environment to have a conversation with the friends I dined with, I did enjoy my food. I had a winter white cosmo to start, and that was quite yummy. I followed that with a Caesar salad that wasn't drowning in dressing and loved my filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Our waitress was attentive without being annoying. I enjoyed my meal sufficiently that I would be happy to go back. All 4 of us in my party enjoyed our meals and said we'd enjoy going back sometime in the future. I've known about the Brighton Bar and Grill for a long time. Just hadn't stopped in yet until we did for drinks one night on the patio. The service was wonderful. Our server was so friendly and helpful that I knew we would be coming back quickly which we have. Even better was that they had a great NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Unfortunately; they have since stopped carrying it a few weeks back which is very disappointing. They have a decent wine selection. I just haven't found one that I like as well yet. They have a very nice selection of beers. It's hard to find a place where both my husband and I find something we both like. For the food. With allergies it's often difficult to find something. It was a few visits before I decided to try. I went with a Salad and Grilled Chicken. I've had the salmon as well which has also been great. I love that their Mashed Potatoes are garlic free since the Fries are not cooked in a separate fryer than Gluten containing foods. The burger was good and the Mac n Cheese was just ok, according to my husband. If you are interested in dessert. The Creme Brulee and a warm Spanish Coffee are great. I've seen the Carrot Cake served. It looks amazing. Every time I see it I think someone ordered a whole cake. It is that large. I have loved that their patio is still open and that they have heaters. The one thing I want to point out before ending my review concerns the service. There is not a restaurant I have been to in which every visit has had superb service. Everyone is friendly, helpful and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Every visit I'm saddened that I didn't get the server I had before. My husband and I also tried their Roasted Garlic Platter and it left us both speechless! My husband doesn't like cheese, but he loved the pairing of the garlic and boursin blend cheese. The food is absolutely delicious except for the pork chops which ended up on the dry side. There were nine of us and the reservation was for seven o'clock. We had quite a wait because the party that ate at the intended table stayed over 3 hours and the restaurant estimated that the dining time for them was more like 2 hours. The restaurant comped is three orders of appetizers to make up for the wait which was nice of them to do so but our wait was almost an hour. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had for appetizers the roasted garlic- definitely recommend! We also had the spicy shrimp and calamari. The ya-ya gumbo soup was real good. The salmon was grilled to perfection. The walleye fish was lovely and tasty. The filet mignon was cooked nicely. It's obvious that the cook staff pride themselves in serving quality. Everyone that had mashed potatoes liked it very much. My husband and I are here and sat at the bar. It's modern but cozy inside. Visually pleasing. There is music playing, and people talking. There's a TV at the bar, no sound, which was good. We received excellent, friendly service from the time we sat down, until we left. I did not order a drink but he had an old fashioned and seemed to enjoy it. For dinner, I had a cup of tomato tarragon soup. The tarragon was faint but, it was a really good combination. I then had the steak Benedict. It could be a meal for two, honestly. Great restaurant in the heart of Brighton. Started with a bowl of gumbo. Wasn't New Orleans level but was hearty and enjoyable with some bite. For my entree, had the ribeye. Tender and flavorful. The honey chipotle glaze was really good. Very enjoyable. For dessert, ordered the caramel cheesecake and a carrot cake for the table. Both were top notch. The caramel cheesecake was exceptional and the carrot cake was moist and not overly sweet. Really nice desserts. Service was solid, all of our needs were taken care of. Nice interior, tables don't quite match the pleather or background somehow. Tom waited on us. He's nice abs attentive. Ordered roasted garlic platter with ciabatta, large house salad, a Caesar salad with blackened salmon and a Georgia Rueben. The house salad is a decent size, the balsamic dressing was nice. Roasted garlic platter was good, peeling out of the skins was best with the knife to smash it down and the fork to push out the cloves. The Boursin cheese blend, red peppers and garlic was a decent pairing. The blackened salmon Caesar was yummy. The blackened salmon was nicely seasoned. Used to be my favorite restaurant in Brighton. I took my sister there for her birthday recently & was extremely disappointed in their menu changes. Everything has gravies or sauces. I ordered their special,beef tips in a red wine sauce & it was sour tasting. Even the rib eye had a sauce added. Service as always was excellent. My daughter came in with a group of friends before the homecoming dance last night. They had a reservation, and I coached my daughter that whatever she ordered to be sure she included 6% sales tax and a 20% tip. She said that she ended up having to pay 46% extra because they included a 20% "large group charge." The staff or manager should have told these little kids that were all dressed up for their dance and clearly dining out alone at a nice restaurant for the first time that the 20% "large group charge" was the tip. We live downtown Brighton and my husband and I have dined here often. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on. read more

Placed carry out order via Yelp/Grubhub. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was told that the restaurant doesn't accept orders through Grubhub (despite it being linked on the site). I showed her the Yelp site to prove I didn't have the wrong restaurant, and I kindly suggested they correct their listing so no other customers would be disappointed. The response? I was told "the people who come here know the menu and would know that's not our menu." Only way to interpret that is that they don't want new customers, only their regulars. Ok. I took my $100+ dinner order elsewhere. Will not be back. Will not recommend. And I suggest if you've never been before, don't try it...after all, they prefer not to have to deal with newcomers! read more
