Here's what i think about Stateside Deli in Howell/Brighton. It's in this brand new, modern church building, but you wouldn't even know it. Totally separate from any church activities, so it doesn't feel like you're eating in a pew or anything. They've got some kind of partnership with the church, you see ads and TV content from them. Now, the food--just killer. If you're into lamb and gyros, this is a good spot. They've got all sorts of sandwiches and omelets too. And the coffee? They've got these fancy mix options that are just top-notch. The service is on point, fast and flawless. Honestly, you should check out some of the pictures I posted and tell for yourself! Wow! What a pleasant surprise this place is!! Everything here is made from scratch, and delicious . I ordered- 1) toffee latte- it was delicious. 2) crispy chicken salad, was huge!! To start I have celiac and cannot have gluten. I saw this place on TikTok and drove an hour just to try it. I had a lot of hope for this place but was met with letdown after letdown. First when we arrived we were swarmed before we could even get all the way through the door by 7 kids asking if we wanted to buy cookies. We said no and went on to find a seat. We got to our spots and sat down. The waitress came over and brought us water and that was the last good thing that happened. I went to order and was met with rudeness and told I couldn't get over half the menu which I'm used to but not when it's advertised different. I tried to order French toast and was informed they can't do pancakes or French toast gluten free. I then decided to try a sandwich. I ordered a sandwich that normal comes on chibatta and when I asked to substitute she made a big deal about not knowing if they could do that. At this point I don't really want to be be here as I am being made to feel like an inconvenience. We wait over 35 minutes to get our food. Mind you it's not that busy maybe 8 tables in the entire place. When it comes out I'm excited as it looks good. But that quickly faded. I took a bite of my sandwich and the chicken was so dry I couldn't even cut it. I started eating the fries and instantly felt sick. About 20 minutes later I was puking and bloated beyond belief. Overall will never be coming back. Also would not say it's safe for celiac when the waitresses don't know what is and isn't safe. read more

We were in town for a wedding and passing through and stopped for lunch as two of the four of us have are Gluten free. All four of us had sandwiches and the two gluten free sandwiches they said were amazing and the bread was the best they have had in a long time. Fries were also gluten free. This business moved into 242 Church and makes sure the people visiting church and/or the playground are NOT welcome. I used to come here often when it was the previous restaurant. I would get cupcakes, snacks and food with my kids. Now they block it off and have a sign saying you are not welcome to use the bathrooms. Once when I got a snack from them, they asked me to move and eat it elsewhere in order to make room for other customers even though the place was practically empty. Their bread and their bacon are especially good and set them apart from any other deli in the area. I come here once every few months. Today I got the veggie omelet with bacon. It was the size of my head and it was tasty and very filling. The bacon was perfectly crisp without being overdone and they eggs were perfectly cooked. Over the years I've had the pleasure of getting to know the owners. They are two of the kindest, most dedicated and hard working young ladies I've ever crossed paths with. I don't think they cook it on the grill. It could've used more Swiss cheese, but had plenty of corn beef and plenty of Kraut, they tend to stack most of their meat right in the center of the sandwich which is a little odd. Our first time at the deli, the food was ok. The server was super accommodating and very nice. We were doing carryout and she was willing to build the sandwiches any way we wanted. The Famous is their corn beef sandwich, it's not bad, not as flavorful as other delis though. It was ok, just not memorable. The turkey wrap I did modify one or two ingredients like adding cucumber. It was ok, but the turkey was on the sweeter side, which was not as good. I didn't expect the meat to have a sweeter flavor which I think three of the sandwich a bit. I have been working on my doctoral research project and decided to try out this place because of its easy access between our house and my clinical research site. It may not look like a 5 star place outside or inside, but everyone has possibly told to never judge a book by its cover. This is that place. We cannot get enough of this place since finding it. I have not been here in many years due to a bad experience with the old owner/restaurant. My daughter who enjoys great food like me told me they had new owners and that the food was fantastic. I went, service was fast and friendly. I met one of the owners. I ordered the Tiffany Chicken sandwich with roasted peppers, caramelized onions, spinach cheese and an amazing sauce. Served on what tasted like a fresh bread. It was phenomenal. I will definitely be back as I live right down the street. My daughter told me I should have ordered the fries as they were amazing.
