Check this out - In my experience, sports bars can go one of two routes with their food. They either order the traditional menu with maybe a slight variation from your standard food supplier. The food is fine, but nothing to write home about and you feel like you've had the exact same meal at other similar restaurants. However, the other route is when a restaurant leans into their menu to offer something different. Elevate the flavors. Put a spin on classics, and give you a reason to return. P's Pizza House in the Dakota Dunes falls into the later category. The cheeseballs and french fries - both sweet and regular - were fairly traditional, but the seasoning/garnish shows that they are paying attention. This brisket mac & cheese will stick to your ribs and let the flavors shine rather than drowning the meat in sauce or forgetting to cook the macaroni well. The smashburgers were exceptional. The pub burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and that pretzel bun with perfectly melted cheese and bacon was tasty, but the pimento cheese smashburger with crispy onion straws was divine. I appreciated that they were actually smash burgers and not just a regular burger with a fancy name. The toppings added to the experience instead of just trying to hide a bad burger. Not pictured were some Oreo shakes and cocktails in addition to a great beer menu. They have a private party space where they can pump out their coal fired pizzas to a large group and they even have a kids zone with arcade games to keep them busy. My husband & I go there everyday (except Monday because they're closed on Mondays) for an ice cream date. It's become our little date time away together. My favorite is Black Raspberry. His is Butter Pecan. If you're lucky you get these little pockets of the flavor bursts inside the ice cream. Extra bonus! I believe the other flavors are Strawberry, Root beer, Tropical Orange & Green Apple along with Black Raspberry & Butter Pecan. I'm not sure if I'm missing one or not. The service has always been polite. Depending on what time you go you can either have no wait or a wait. It's hit or miss. You never know but obviously lunch & dinner time are always busy. I love Subway subs after going 26.2 miles so it was a no brainer to visit here. I got the tuna sub on wheat. It was the freshest tuna sub I have ever received from any Subway in the country. The lady behind the counter was friendly and seemed to enjoy her work. It was a great experience. In fact, the sub was so good that I went back the very next day and ordered the exact same thing. On a sad note, I still remember the jingles about ..... "5 - 5 - $5 foot longs". These days are long gone. A sub and a drink now runs $13. And of course you get pressured to tip here as well upon check out. Memo to store owner: pay your crew right.
