Went in on a whim before visiting my father's grave in gig harbor. We chose it because we thought it would be silly to eat the Mac Daddiest while we picnicked at my dad's resting place. We usually bring snacks or picnics when paying our respects as my dad was a big foodie. It was pretty dead in the restaurant since it was around 5pm, so we didn't have to wait long for takeout. Not that I expect servers to be too attentive for takeout customers, but since it was so slow, a little banter or seeing if we want a glass of water while waiting would have been nice since it was a really hot day. Not sure if service would have been better if we dined in or not. As far as food went, my husband who isn't as picky about barbecue was really satisfied. He got the coffee brisket and I was surprised how strong the coffee flavor was. I'm not a coffee drinker at all so it was prevalent to me, whereas my husband who does drink coffee said he couldn't taste it. So the verdict of whether the coffee flavor is strong or not might need more tasters! :p the ribs were the best for sure! We both loved them and they definitely were tender! Would go back for those if we're in the area. Finally, the Mac Daddiest was really good and a pretty good portion. First time here the other night, absolutely delicious. First off, they have a great happy hour and on Sunday! But... it ends at 5 and you must be in the bar area. The food is absolutely delicious I tried the brisket taco plate which gave me so much meat I had to take home half to make it the next night! The servings are big and the food is outstanding probably the best brisket I've ever had. I also tried the nachos which were so good!!! I don't think I'm such a fan of the super thin chips they use I wish I used more quality chips but it was outstanding! Came with guac and sour cream on top and the drizzled sauce on them was good, its huge! like three people can eat it for dinner! The service was excellent the cute gal that served us was so sweet and accommodating! I asked to have some of their bloody Mary mix in my beer to make it a red beer and she was so happy to do it and did not charge me. The restaurant is really a cool vibe the bathroom is really fun and the bar is super nice I can't wait to come back and sit at the bar for happy hour. It will definitely be one of my go to places. Sidenote, the pickled vegetables that came on the plate were so good! The beans were good too but I will say they lack a little bit of seasoning, so I added their delicious spicy barbecue sauce. We found this amazing smokehouse by mistake and what a great mistake that was. We had been dinking around Gig Harbor waiting for our Gig Harbor Gondola excursion and we stopped in because it smelled so good. We were greeted by a delightful young lady who was our bartender and she served delicious drinks and we ended up having their nachos ---not just any nachos, but they're nachos! We decided on the pulled pork and oh my gosh it was absolutely delicious. We know that we will be back because we want to go after the brisket and ribs next time. I was walking around the Harbor, near the marina and decided to drop into a few places. One of which was Brimstone. I dropped in a grab a small bite and I am glad I did. I got the pork belly and cheese curds and they were delish! The bites tasty, the sauce, fragrant and flavorful. Also had the soup which was outstanding. The service was quick and the server, kind. Best BBQ in Gig Harbor! My husband and I placed an order to-go online and weren't sure where the brick and mortar was located. What a hidden gem! It's so close to the marina and Iscreamery, I regret not coming to eat BBQ here sooner. Next time I definitely plan to eat inside. This time, my husband ordered the two meat combo with the spicy sausage and brisket with beans and corn on the cob, while I ordered the two meats combo with ribs and pork shoulder with beans and potato salad. We wanted to share a bit of each of the meats for our first time. Everything is cooked and/or smoked to perfection! Great portions for to-go as well. I love that they give you a few sauce cups to take home too. The meat on the ribs were fall-off-the-bone, and the potato salad is a must get. The atmosphere and vibe are fantastic, but the food falls short compared to local competition. We did order take out so maybe that makes a difference? We ordered the Mexican corn, which had great seasoning, but the corn itself tasted old and lacked freshness. The burnt ends had decent flavor thanks to the sauce, but they were too dry and lacked moisture, as did the brisket, which was also lacking in flavor. The pulled pork was dry as well, but with some extra sauce, it was passable. The best meat we tried was the ribs--they were a bit dry but tender, with good flavor. Overall, the meal didn't quite hit the mark, but I'm open to trying other menu items before crossing Brimstone off my list entirely. read more

I would say it's one of the better BBQ joints for this side of Washington State. The service was adequate and the setting was of some smokehouses back home in Texas. The meat was tasty although kinda on the expensive side for how small the portion sizes were. If you're looking for some extra sweet heat then make sure to get their locally made Sassy sauce. I'm no BBQ expert (though I lived in Texas for 5 years), but our medium platter was large enough for two and the meats, brisket and pulled pork, was the best we've had in the PNW( so far). Why? To me, I enjoyed that it wasn't slathered in barbecue sauce. The meat stood on its own! Yet to my surprise, the meat was not dry as it often is. I heard the chicken was moist, also though we didn't order chicken today. We were pleasantly surprised to enjoy their house made pickled veggies. There were pickled jalapeños in there too. Since being from the South, we got creamed grits. They were okay. Bought the cornbread muffins with honey butter, which turned out to be butter and honey squeezed on top. Made my hands sticky. We have never dined here before, but personally I would recommend this restaurant with its St Louis BBQ style meats. Oh, they had gumbo to offer, so we ordered that too. My Cajun gumbo maker husband thought it was the best he had up here in the North. Let's call it different than Louisiana creole gumbo, but still tasty. Texas Twinkies (bacon wrapped jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese & brisket) are super yummy! But only 2 came in an order (with a corn muffin drizzled with honey). I could've eaten way more of those! The brisket & pulled pork was also so good. Nice & moist & tasty with the house made sauces. They lean toward vinegar-y, tangy, if that's your jam. Coleslaw & potato salad were ok. From the service to the food, it's always the best time! Best bar and cocktails in town! Their brisket is something to tell your grand children about, their street corn will make you forget all your problems & well the nachos... you'll just have to see for yourself. That being said, their tacos are hands down my favorite thing to eat here. We stopped in for brunch on the recommendation of the hostess at NetShed No 9. So we walked over and got an immediate seat for brunch at a bar table. There was only a single server in the bar area and she was very pleasant and made sure you knew where you were. The bar started to get really packed around noon. We ordered the brisket "steak" and eggs (quotes are their's) and the shrimp and grits. We paired these with a nomosa and the skewball old fashioned. The grits were unexpected (especially if you're from the south like my partner). We couldn't put our finger on it. Almost as if they rough chopped the hominy. Maybe no milk? They were good, just different. The smoked tomato gravy was very good. The grits this way seemed lighter than "traditional". The brisket was thick enough that I had to ask for a knife! It was very flavorful and excellent when dipped in the gold sauce. We enjoyed the over easy eggs - not always something restaurants do well. These were perfect. Portions were very generous. The screwball old fashioned didn't really pick up the hint of peanut butter from the peanut butter whisky but was a good old fashioned. Overall, a very good brunch. read more

We started with the Texas Twinkies and those were a flavor explosion in every bite! The heat of the jalapeño, creaminess of the cream cheese and the smoky crispy bacon make these exquisite! The prime brisket was bbq perfection... tender and succulent, and melted in our mouths. We paired this with the Street Cart Corn Cob and this was the perfect choice. We stopped to eat here on the way to Rodeo Drive In in Bremerton. It was a yummy and repeatable experience, and they allow dogs at the 2 patio tables out front. Visiting from out of town and went to this establishment based on the positive reviews. They couldn't be farther from the truth. Prices were very expensive for what you got and the food was mediocre. Clearly They do not know how to do good bbq. The mac and cheese came in a small paper bowl, lacked flavor and cost $11. Cracker Barrel boxed mac and cheese is better. The brisket taco was extremely fatty and had no flavor. The only thing that was decent was the pulled pork. And don't get me started on the "magic" baked beans. They were simply awful. Also, items listed as appetizers should not be the same exact size as the same items listed as "sides". The one saving grace was that our server was pleasant and actually removed the beans as a side item from our final bill which was appreciated. I would not recommend this place. Average food at best and ridiculously over priced for what you get. read more

Pretty good bbq! We got the medium plate ($38) with double brisket, ribs, coleslaw, and CORNBREAD . The brisket was SO tender and my 9 yr old gobbled it up. The coleslaw was kind of bland and for a side kinda small and lacking, but I didn't go there to try the coleslaw so it's fine. My son got the Mac Daddiest and he said it was very tasty except it was missing the "yardbird" which was listed in the ingredients so maybe it would've been over the top delicious if that was included. We finally made it here when they were open! Check the hours before you come as we didn't and approached a locked door a few times. But Wow! Life is better now that we have eaten here! We've heard about these famous Nachos and they didn't disappoint. The chips were strong enough but not too thick to hold the incredible amount of flavorful toppings and layers of goodness. The radishes were a perfect touch of flavor and color. But the pork and brisket was absolutely delicious. Just stop reading the menu and order the Nachos already! But shoot, their meat is so good, how are we ever going to get past ordering Nacos again and only get meat? One thing is for sure, I will always order the street cart corn cob. Holy hannah! This corn was worth the entire trip. Te cotija cheese and chile powder and lime was perfection...yet again. So good. The Mac Daddy was also a great creamy dish and we liked it a bit more adding some spicy sauces to it. And to be adventurous we tried the PB & J Sundae. This was definitely different, but the bites of brittle made us want to keep getting bites. Chose St Louis Style Ribs and Brisket, Beans and Slaw. Very happy with my selection! Ribs had crisp outside, tender meat that peeled easily off the bone. Fantastic Brisket with light pink in the middle and slight smoky taste. Beans complimented well - not too salty. Fresh cut slaw, vinager tang. When I was almost done enjoying the meal my friendly server came back and asked "would you like to see the Donut Menu?" YES, yes I would. Ordered the Strawberry Shortcake Donut and loved the berries and sauce, the mound of whipping cream and the tasty donut underneath it all.
