My only regret is that I didn't take any photos to share. This is a beautiful restaurant, quiet enough for conversation also which is much appreciated. We were greeted and seated immediately (had a reservation). Our server arrived with menus and water quickly. I chose the seafood salad, my wife the grilled chicken burger with bacon and avocado and fries which we shared. The salad had generous portions including a couple scallops, large shrimp and great sauce. Her sandwich was big, in a great way. And both were very tasty. The service continued at very high levels and we will be back. Easy parking here and reasonable prices. read more

My childhood friend suggested that he, his lovely wife and my partner and I enjoy a New Year's eve meal. We were excited to get together with these friends and sup at the Greenhouse for this first time. Due to the popularity of this establishment we were seated about a half hour after our reservation time. Later seating probably and also had to do something with it being New Year's eve. The front-of-house team from maitre d' to table servers were pleasant and efficient. She-who-must-be-obeyed ordered a Mixed Green salad whilst I ordered a Spinach, Beets, Goat Cheese salad with a yummy raspberry vinaigrette although kitchen might have been a wee bit heavy handed with dressing. Alas, both were lovely salads. Wild Seafood Linguini Alfredo was my partner's main course and thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered Classic Seafood Cioppino and whilst it didn't quite hit the high bar set by my beloved Sotto Mare Oysteria & Seafood in San Francisco, it was definitely a dish I would recommend and will order again. Our meal was completed with a lovely by Creme Brulee ordered by my partner whilst I happily ate a cup of Madagascar Vanilla ice cream and Raspberry with Blackberry ribbons sorbet. I keep wanting this place to be better than it is. It's very pretty inside, well decorated and the menu makes the food sound amazing. It's just ok no matter how many times I try it. This time I ordered a portobello veggie sandwich and had a choice of fries, salad, or soup. Menu said the fries were hand made but they were just so so. Not sure why places think they have to season fries, just serve them properly cooked and let that speak for itself. The sandwich itself was ok, but the bread used was small and not worth the price. My friend got a burger which she said was good although she didn't eat all of it. It's not cheap and they've downsized portions but not prices. read more

This is a fancy restaurant located near a shopping center and movie theater. Parking is a little difficult. For the ambiance, I expected a little more intimacy, especially with the high prices. It was a lot more casual and loud. The bar was in the middle of the restaurant, making it very loud. This is not a place for an intimate date, but for a casual outing. The food was pretty good. I am a chef and the food was a good quality with an excellent presentation. I ordered the scallop meal with the marscapone polenta and Brussel sprouts. The scallops were a bit small and slightly rubbery on the outside but inside they were well cooked. I think the scallops could have been bigger based on the price. Also, the bacon should have been mixed in with the shredded Brussels sprouts instead of left separate. Regardless, it was still a delicious meal. And the sauce on the scallops was really amazing. My husband ordered the steak and lobster with a side of the lobster risotto made with forbidden black rice. It did come with a side of truffle whipped potatoes but he substituted it with the garlic whipped potatoes. The lobster was really great and seasoned well. His steak was ordered medium rare but came medium well. We did have to send it back and he did finish his food before it came back, which was disappointing. The garlic whipped potatoes however, were one of the most delicious sides I've had in a while. It was unfortunate that there was so little on the plate and that my husband (who usually eats the potatoes and steak together) had to eat it by itself. His lobster risotto was pretty good as a regular risotto. It had absolutely no lobster in it and the flavor was mostly the cheese. I did think it was pretty good and I ate it. The rice was slightly undercooked though. The fresh sour dough bread should not be kept in the towels when served. The steam made the bread a little chewy. It should be given air to breathe. The butter was really delicious and I love the 2 different flavors (garlic and honey). They also need to update their online menu. My husband and I usually check menus to know what we want ahead of time and for dessert he wanted the raspberry orange sorbet, which wasn't on the in-restaurant menu. The drinks looked pretty amazing and my husband said the one he got was pretty delicious. I liked the look of the old fashion, which gets smoked table side with your choice of smoke flavor. Our waitress, was actually so amazing and accommodating to us. She was really nice and we gave her a 20% tip. All and all, I would not come here for food again. The only thing that we didn't like is that they spiked the pricing for the steak and lobster (regular menu is +$15 for 6 oz.). However, they only offer their 8 oz. Lobster on Valentine's Day which is + $28. So that math kind of bummed me out. The seating wasn't great either, very uncomfortable high chairs, but I didn't reserve in time for the nicer seats so that's fine, just an FYI to book in advance! It's a crapshoot on how your experience will be. Inconsistency is a constant for the Greenhouse. Seriously! Everything from the drinks to the food... made differently every single time! Same with the service. The ladies at the front are consistently a bit pretentious, unwelcoming, and inattentive. You stand there waiting to be seated, and they act like they couldn't care less. The wait staff is a complete hit or miss. When it's good... IT'S AMAZING, but you just never know what you're going to get each time. It's the exact same with the food/drink. When it's good, it's FANTASTIC! ... but when it's not, IT'S NOT! The price stays the same. It's VERY loud inside. The acoustics are horrible. You're constantly straining to hear each other and block out all of the "restaurant" noise. Sitting outside is much better. When the owner is there, it seems to be more on point, but not guaranteed. It's been a while since we've driven to Gig Harbor and been back to this restaurant and it's still as great as before. The service here is excellent! The food is amazing! Need I say more?! Their crab melt is so full of crab and perfectly seasoned. The chicken bacon sandwich has a huge piece of chicken that extended past the bun in all directions. The reuben is amazing with perfectly toasted rye bread. The salmon was cooked to perfection with black risotto and asparagus on the side. The only thing wrong was my dad ordered his wagyu burger medium well and it came out well done. He didn't want to complain, so he ate it grumpily, lol. We love this place! read more

The only bad thing we have to say about this place is that the decorative runner on the two top table was placed so it was in our lap, which was annoying because it kept moving every time I moved my hands, but that was a quick fix and we moved it. We were greeted by our waiter Isaiah, and he was amazing from start to finish! We started with the crab cakes and they were incredible. I had the Parmesan crusted halibut, and they ran out of the burre blanc sauce, so Isaiah brought me three different sauces to try. The fish itself was a tad dry, but overall my dish was amazing. My husband had the chicken piccata linguini, and it had so much flavor. For dessert we had the turtle cheesecake. It was a bit too sweet for my liking but my husband ate it all up. I will say the acoustics in the restaurant must not be great, because every other table around us were so loud, it was like we were sitting in on other people's conversations. My husband had an old fashioned and I had a fig around and find out. Overall a very good experience and we will be coming back! read more

First things first, this is a beautiful restaurant. The building is gorgeous and the interior has the opportunity to be as well. There is too much going on for the decor, plants everywhere the tables feel crowded because of the amount of things. This is something I noticed was affecting the servers directly as well. Your servers shouldn't be side stepping anywhere when they're delivering food, it's a hazard not only to them but to the customers. This is a problem easily fixed, and since your name is greenhouse why not commit to the bit and put those wood rafters to work with hanging herbs and greenery. The servers themselves were mostly good, ours were perfect. However, unless you're going to specifically declare yourself as a suit and tie place I had better not be getting dirty looks from your other servers because of my appearance, EVER. The drinks were absolutely fantastic, you have a top notch cocktail artist who I hope is getting well paid and the other tenders were also great. The food was such a mix of good and meh. Clam chowder? Amazing, thick and creamy, actual clam meat in good portions and my only notes would be to add a good bit of black pepper and a little cayenne. The wagyu burger, was disappointing. The meat was barely seasoned if at all, the lettuce was shred of all things, you don't put shred on a burger it gets slimy far too quickly and loses its crunch. The sauce, bun, and crispy onions though? Those were all excellent. Fries were perfect, crispy warm and expertly seasoned. Lastly the crème brûlée, no notes, could easily sell it by itself in little packages and it would go crazy. For all of what I got and the quality of it, I would say it just barely clears the was it worth it line and only because of your cocktail guy and our amazing server. If you're looking for a place to impress a date, fantastic, otherwise I'd go elsewhere. read more

Man, I really want to love this place and parts of me do. It's the best upscale restaurant in Gig Harbor with the best service in the area. But the food is so lack luster and mad expensive for what it is. I know, prices are going up and inflation is a strain, but damn man - can we not cook seasonal vegetables the whole way through? We enjoyed our date night out here! We went on a Saturday evening and didn't have to wait long for a seat. They don't have much low seating indoors, so it made it a bit challenging for my short stature, but we were hungry and wanted indoor seating. I ordered the Patio Princess wine flight and my husband ordered a Murder On The Dancefloor drink. The wine choices were light and refreshing. My husband's drink tasted good, but we agreed it wasn't strong for being a liquor based drink. We started off by staring the coconut prawns with a sweet chili sauce. It comes with four prawns, so it was a good amount for two people, but could have been slightly cheaper considering. I was feeling mid-range level hungry, so I got the wedge salad with a cup of New England clam chooser, and filet mignon skewers. It was the perfect amount and preparation. My husband ordered the Alaskan Cod Ling with risotto, he enjoyed it but said it could have been a bit more flavorful with extra salt. Overall, the food was well done and the atmosphere was laidback where we didn't feel rushed throughout our meal. We'd like to sit on the patio when it's a bit warmer in the summer, so we'll be back again! read more

My motto of life is to try anything twice. This may confirm if the first experience was good or bad. My first experience at this place was amazing. Great food and amazing service. My last - second experience was just the opposite. The food was bad and the response to my comment about the food was oh. The waiter didn't seem interested and didn't even apologize or ask how can we make it better, offer an alternative, etc. just walked away. I was not mean, I didn't have a bad tone, or such. My complaint was with the amount of onions that was in the salad. It overwhelmed the flavor. I put aside most of them and it was a huge mound. I speech about a 1/3 cup I set aside. He should have noticed the mound and asked if it was ok. A waiter should look at the plate and notice such - a great service oriented one imho. Then as I was waiting at the front door for someone as I left. The person at the front smiled at me. I said all was ok but I had the second worse salad in my life here. She frowned a little and said sorry. Didn't ask which one I had or asked for details as to why. Anyway, I will reconsider going here. If I do, I will never order the salad with seafood in it. I had hoped the place would be somewhere I would go to, but again I will think twice. read more

One of the best meals I have ever had! The Filet and Lobster was amazing! Cooked to perfection and fantastic flavor. We had several appetizers and they were all great and the drinks we very tasty. Really delicious food but the cocktails are what really shine! I've never had a bad drink at Greenhouse. I absolutely love the crab cakes and the coconut prawns with one of their signature cocktails. A little on the pricier end but worth every penny. I enjoy sitting at the bar where more action tends to happen but the seating is cozy and romantic for a date night. We had such a great time here! The food is really great, super flavorful and large portions. We got the shrimp cocktail which had a hint of horseradish in the sauce, the grilled prawns and bread for starters, all solid and yummy. I got the Cajun Caesar salad, I didn't get much "Cajun" flavor from it but it was a great salad nonetheless. I added the cod which made it hearty enough for me! Others got the ahi tostada which was made with nice chunks of very fresh and tasty ahi, the halibut which came with a really good cheesy risotto. Cocktails were excellent too. The espresso martini had a warm hint of caramel or toffee to it. Our service was really great and the staff even dressed up and did a little performance for the opening night of Beetlejuice! Be sure to make a reservation because it seems pretty consistently busy here. A great spot for before or after a movie ! read more

We got the filet mignon for two, selected the truffle potatoes and seasonable veggies that come with it. You can also choose garlic mashed and asparagus. But you can get garlic mashed anywhere, go with the truffle! The sauces they brought out were sooo good. My favorite was the mushroom one. Use them on your steak, potatoes and veggies, or none of them. Everything was super flavorful, with or without the sauces. Cool setup and decor. We went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't busy at all. We can't wait to come back and try the tomahawk ribeye for two. Our steak standards are pretty high and we have a few that we always use for comparison. Gotta say. I have loved this spot for years, however, today was not one of those days. I took a friend for her birthday and was enjoying the Dungeoness crab melt when a nasty black thick hair became visible in the middle of the sandwich. They kindly took it off the bill. I will say my server was really nice about it. I was too grossed out to get another entree. I did get a dessert. I did not make a big deal out of the situation. In kind, and as a good measure to guests, I would have expected my dessert comped. I don't think I will be back for a while... so disappointed! Do better Greenhouse! read more

Excellent experience dining for lunch on a Sunday after recently. Nice lunch& happy hour menu. Our server was very good, food brought out fast and hot from kitchen staff. Cocktails on point. Everything we ordered was really flavorful and cooked perfectly. We especially enjoyed the sautéed calamari, seafood chowder, goat cheese bread plate and Croque madam sandwich, and the flourless chocolate torte to-go was sinful. Our new favorite Gig Harbor restaurant, atmosphere very nice along with outdoor patio. Only complaint is the bar stools were very uncomfortable for us. Tell me if you have heard this one. A couple walked into the Greenhouse Restaurant where they come regularly. As they are being seated, the server told them they can not split their twilight dinner as directed by the manager/owner/bookkeeper, who is cowardly hiding in the back. At the end of the meal an underling is sent to confirm that in the future they will not be able to split the meal because owners Eric and Krystle Smith have determined they are not making enough money from this couple. Are there that many twilight diners splitting their meals that might bankrupt the Greenhouse? This 80 year old, disabled veteran with terminal cancer requires high seats and the ability to have a small meal because of his cancer. Is this senior discrimination? Veteran discrimination? Handicapped discrimination? Low income discrimination? Desire for bad will? More? The meal is a small pork chop, a small salad and a scope of ice cream for $38 and a $5 ice tea. They must be on a shoe string margin and even the price of a to go box could bankrupt them. The restaurant is open and the table is empty, so why not sell a meal? If it was just one person dining alone, they would sell them a meal so all that is being done is adding an extra plate. Likewise, the server gets a nice tip and they get good will. Anthony's offers a Sunset menu for $5 less with larger portions, a bigger salad and a nice dessert along with many other choices in Gig Harbor. Good will only takes one thing; taking care of your customers. Bad will is very expensive because it starts with a yelp and with thousands of seniors, handicapped and veterans in the area, the word will spread rapidly. read more

We like this restaurant because it's the most upscale in Gig Harbor. I've had the duck, rack of lamb, and the crab cakes-all of which were great. The duck and lamb were cooked perfectly. My girlfriend's favorite is the sautéed seafood salad. Hot seafood on a bed of spinach. The heat from the seafood cooks the spinach just the right amount. The veggie sides are always flavorful and not overcooked. They have an extensive bar selection and quite a few specialty drinks. The restaurant hums with conversations and laughter, but you can still have a quiet conversation as well. The staff are polite and friendly. Parking can get crowded due to the theater and other restaurants in the complex. If you're looking for a nice place to eat in GH, this is the one. Reservations recommended. read more

Better was my crab melt. So full of crab I could hardly believe it. Came with a choice of sides and I chose the fries, extra crispy. Sadly, they were not crispy at all. My friend had the steak salad and I was envious. It looked fabulous and she reported it was. I look forward to trying more things on the menu! read more

This was formerly one of our favorite restaurants, and our "go-to" place for afternoon meet-ups. One of the most appreciated menu items on the Happy Hour Bar Menu, was a delicious House Cheeseburger, cooked to order. Unfortunately, this item was recently eliminated, and in its stead, customers are now offered "(3) Beef Sliders", in lieu of the Restaurant's prior flagship Cheeseburger. No comparison! Further descriptions would be mean-spirited. I suspect that we are not alone in our disappointment. It will affect our future patronage. read more

We had called to check for reservations but were told book fully till 745 we checked open table and it show spots outside we went and were seated if we could eat with in one hour We were seated at a table near the bar. The restaurant has a lot of backgrounds noise. We had a halibut and a cioppino The halibut was served on a pesto mash and was moist. The cioppino was more a fish in a heavy marinara sauce. it had 3 shrimp a few scallops an off flavored fish and they said some lobster which I could not find. They used Onions-and carrots as well the soup was thick enough to eat with a fork. I prefer a thinner soup with more fish. The wait staff was excellent. This is family friendly as they have crayons and paper also high chairs. If your kids eat full meals this could be rather expensive as we saw no signs of a children's menu Food was good. We were in town visiting family, and they booked our reservation for a Saturday evening. We were sat right away, and from start to finish of our time here, the service was impeccable. They have a pretty amazing menu for their cocktails. The names kind of cracked me up. The menu had quite a bit to choose from. We all split some coconut prawns, and I can't remember the name of the other app. Both were delicious. My guy, and I split the tomahawk for two. We also ordered the Parmesan halibut, because we knew the tomahawk wouldn't be enough for him, and we also wanted to try both dishes. The drinks I ordered were, she's sweet like candy which comes with cotton candy on top. The other one was we are on a break. Both drinks were great, but I think I liked my second one better. I think the drink my SIL ordered was Pookie is looking absolutely fire tonight! When they brought it out they lit it on fire. My guy, and his Brother had old fashioned's. They said we're amazing. The food was great, the service top notch, and had a great time. Would definitely come back. Went to the Greenhouse Restaurant in Gig Harbor for lunch. I ordered the Wild Alaskan Parmesan Halibut. The food was really good. The halibut was crispy and flavorful. The whipped potatoes were really smooth and works well with the halibut. Overall the meal was pretty good. The ambiance was really nice. Every roomy, a lot of seats, they have a fire pit in front and a lot of heating inside. When I went, it was really packed. The staff were great. It may have taken a little long to get our food but probably because it was a busy day when I went. Overall my experience was really good. read more

Ambiance was ok. We sat at an awkward table by the kitchen door with the front door continuously blowing cold air on us. However, our server Hannah did her best to accommodate us and check to see if there was another table. There was not. Which we completely understood. For an appetizer we ordered the seafood sampler. It tasted good but lacked quality for price and should have been presented on a much smaller plate for tricking the eye. My son ordered the fettuccine, he loved it. My husband had chicken piccata, he enjoyed it. I ordered the filet, medium. It came out a bit too rear for me. I explained to Hannah it's my fault not the chef's. She said he could put heat on it. I got it back, charred. As if, out of spite, he had put it on the grill, held it down and let the flame sit on it until it was burnt beyond being able to eat. I am familiar with this behavior because we are a family from the restaurant industry. Hannah came to check on us. We said something. However asked her not to say anything. She offered a dessert and made everything right. Greenhouse, you have a great server on your hands. Unfortunately, this was our second visit where we weren't satisfied with the experience. I had dinner last night at Greenhouse with my family and it was great! We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to squeeze us 4 in the bar area no problem. We started with the Herbed Goat Cheese and Coconut Crusted Prawns. These were absolutely delicious, I will definitely be ordering these again next time I am in. For our entrées, I had the Flat Iron Steak Salad, my mom had the Wild Seafood Sauté Salad, and my brother got the Filet (subbed his potatoes for brussel sprouts). My grandma go the chowder (not pictured), but it was great. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I will definitely try to explore more of the menu next time I am back in.
