While the water did eventually work its way into my shoes -- my feet were able to stay dryer for longer than the rest of my group. Let me explain: After wearing the ubiquitous, trendy running shoes with that spongy cushiony foam, I noticed the following in less than 1 year: 1) Significant overpronation in my stride that I had never had before, 2) Substantial accompanying wear and tear on those foamy sneakers' heels, 3) My toenails on both of my feet looked terrible due to yellowing which I had never had before, and 4) my hips started to hurt. For all of that bouncy foam and cushioning, my feet, my gait and my stride had changed for the worse. I decided to look for sneakers at the Marx Running store after seeing their physical sign on the store's front lawn (yes, those physical signs still work). Once in the store, I got free gait analysis. As I was looking at the sneaker wall, I noticed a sneaker I had never seen before. I didn't know the brand name, I had never seen the design before and I found it curious that it was given central wall space at their store. I asked the store attendant about the sneaker and could I see it in my size. He mentioned that sneaker is only made for On Your Marx Running and that it actually cannot be bought anywhere else as it is made specifically for that store. I was intrigued. He also mentioned how distinct it was and gave me some additional detail. I figured let me just try it on. From the outside, it just looked like a normal running shoe with a brand name I didn't know, but it didn't have the foam you see everywhere now on running shoes. I tried on the running shoes in shocking orange (before the World Cup hot pink became a thing). The shoe fit felt good. I did the test walk in the store and thought I'll just try these and bought them. I actually started wearing them during my summer vacation at Disney World in Florida of all places. After the first 2 days of 8 miles of walking each day, I noticed my feet didn't hurt. After 8 miles of walking each day for 2 days in the sunny confines of Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, think about that: My feet didn't hurt. There was no extra bouncy, spongy cushioning in these running shoes. What's more, when I took off my socks, I noticed my toneails didn't look yellow anymore. In fact, they looked really healthy like when I was in my 20-30's. They weren't yellow anymore, they were bright and healthy looking like the blood was circulating through them. I was a bit confused. And, the final things I noticed: My legs felt good, my hips didn't hurt, and I felt refreshed - after all that walking. Nothing had changed except the running shoes I was wearing. After my vacation ended, I went to Marx Running and bought 3 additional pairs of the same running shoes. They are the best shoes I have ever worn. Comfortable, durable, and I feel like my feet and body are in proper alignment when I wear them. I actually feel the difference in my body. So, I recommend On Your Marx Running & Fitness in Acton, MA for some solid, running savvy expertise, good customer service and your next running shoe purchase. I would tell you what the brand is, but then you may never get to the store and hear how it came to be that this store is the only place you can get these running shoes. It is worth it to make the trip.

And yes, that world definitely exists here--but what surprised me is how welcoming and useful it is even if you're not that person. I first stopped in a few years ago when I was just starting to get more serious about biking. I was in "just looking" mode, but the owner, Husam, ended up having this unexpectedly refreshing take: men think nothing of spending real money on their bikes, and women should feel just as entitled to invest in themselves. It stuck with me. I didn't buy my bike there at the time, but recently went back for a professional fitting ahead of a cross-country ride--and it was 100% worth it. He adjusted me to a shorter reach and narrower handlebars, which completely changed how I ride. I'm now using my hamstrings and glutes much more instead of torching my quads early. He also spotted that my left leg is actually more dominant than my right (never would have guessed that) and gave me exercises to balance things out. I also ended up upgrading my cycling shoes while I was there, and even that made a noticeable difference in power transfer. It's those kinds of small, expert tweaks that really add up. One of my favorite things: once you're a customer, you're always a customer. Husam told me to stop in anytime--for water, the bathroom, or even just to check tire pressure. That kind of low-key, no-pressure support is rare. If I ever buy another bike, I'd absolutely come here. And I highly recommend the fitting--it gives you measurements you can use on any bike going forward.

Since I hadn't heard back from Storck, I called ATA hoping for guidance or help sourcing the part. Instead, I got a two-minute conversation that managed to be both unhelpful and dismissive. They told me they don't carry spare parts--fine. But when I asked for help identifying the correct part or sourcing it, they simply repeated what I had already said, offered no direction, and quickly ended the call. At one point, I was even asked where I bought the bike, as if that determined whether the question deserved an answer. It's not the lack of parts that stands out--it's the lack of effort. If this is how they handle someone ready to spend money, it's hard to imagine how they handle actual problems. I'll take my business elsewhere--and suggest others do the same.

It never happens with shoes and ME. Yes the shoes do look scary. Especially the black kangaroo leather ones. So I decided to settle for the least obvious ones in light grey. I still get a lot of attention simply because it does look strange. It's different alright. Putting your toes in all at once was definitely a task. It just won't go in together-it was a fight. Years of high heels and other culprits made my toes dumb. Yeah dumb not numb ;) It wants to immediately curl into a ball and get ready to stuff itself into a tight space. At first I was afraid to step on even just the street outside the store. But once I got started I was very happy with it. Now I am walking all over the place with it. My toes are more in its natural state now. Relaxed. I'm giving it four stars simply because it wasn't able to stand the rigors of my backpacking trip. It was just simply made for a light trek or non granite types. Don't get me wrong. It offers a lot of protection just not enough cushion for what I carry in weight when I go on backpacking trips. I bought the new model called Trek. It offers more traction and more coverage. I was very excited to try it on a much simpler trail that is more suited to a day hike. It worked very well with my rocky hike on Inspiration Point. I also started wearing the five fingers socks with it and it is a much better experience. For an avid hiker my feet is very sensitive. SO any possible hot spots is fixed by wearing the socks. I am convinced that this is very comfortable and healthy for you feet. Not sexy at all. But hey you're either born sexy/hot or not. Being in the fitness industry I had done my research and drilled everyone I knew who had them to…read moresee if they were right for me. I got 50/50 reviews, some people like them, some found them to be "a waste of money" (note the quotations, I really did hear that a couple of times from people using them as slippers at this point because they disliked them). I run, I teach Yoga and Pilates. For me it was a no-brainer, no matter what other people said, it just seemed that they make perfect sense for me to own them. I carefully measured my feet per the instructions and ordered a pair. They came a couple of weeks later and I was sad to see that they were way too big. No problem, the exchange policy is pretty clear and easy. Less than an hour after getting them they were on the way back, $9 later for return shipping, with delivery confirmation. After checking to see if they had gotten the shipment I waited 8 business days after the date of receipt and sent an email asking about my exchange. I got an email basically telling me that it took at least 10 business days after getting them to RE-SHIP. Ok, fine. 3 weeks after sending them I get my exchange and they too had about 1/2" extra space in my right heel. The shoes didn't fit either. Again, I re-measured and this size was technically a size too small per their instructions yet were still too big so I again sent them back and requested a size smaller. Another $9 later with delivery confirmation. They got the shipment on Feb 19, a Saturday. After 5 BUSINESS DAYS - around the 28th we send an email inquiring about the status. No answer. We send 3 more emails. No answer. Today we send another to just about everyone in the company asking for the status of my return. It wasn't a nasty email but we are frustrated it is TWELVE BUSINESS days after they received the shoes, all we want is a shipment number or to let us know when we can expect them. No answer other than a refund. We didn't ask for one, we just wanted to know where my shoes are and were given no explanation as to where they are or why they just gave us a refund. Horrible customer service at a time when people think twice before spending their money. They obviously don't want us as customers and have no interest in customer service per the appalling response. No problem. I have plenty of clients, plenty of people who respect what I have to say and what I can recommend for their training in running, cross-training, triathlons, Yoga, Pilates and honestly I have never had an issue with Asics, Nike and even actual bare feet for some of the classes, so I guess this product won't be one I recommend because I can't do it - I would never recommend a product from a company who treats customers this way.
